The last 2 have come with 1 ice pack on top, which is not enough to keep the food cold from wherever it comes from. All meals are not available nationwide; the availability depends on the customer's location. I have a choice of around 330 meals. The selection of meals is broad and most of the meals are generally tasty but the per-meal cost (including tax and delivery) is quite pricey and it depends on what the meal contains: About 72% of the meals are "standard" (poultry, pasta, salads, veggies, etc) and cost almost $15.00 Around 18% are "premium" meals (with meat or fish) and cost more than $20.00 About 10% are "Add and Save" items which are discounted less than $2.00 and cost around $13.00. Some of the "sting" of the cost is offset by their convenience (almost all of the meals are microwaveable for 3-4 minutes). An issue I constantly face is the delivery company's failure to follow my delivery instructions. When I report this to CookUnity, it claims to have contacted its "logistics team" but the problem continues. However. CookUnity does "apologize" by providing a discount on a future order. read more

This is a follow-up to the review posted by my husband, George.  In his review, he mentioned that I like the variety of meals on Cook Unity's weekly menu, which always includes new items.   Last night's meal was BBQ Salmon, Adobo Shrimp with Chorizo Poblano Cornbread and Steamed Broccoli.  Tonight, I had a difficult time selecting from the following remaining meals I had ordered for this week: Herbed Persian Beef Stew, Pork Loin with Mushroom-Marsala Sauce, Porcini Fettucine & Mozzarella Chicken, and Curried Grilled Chicken with Spiced Cauliflower Masala Beef Kebab.  Each of these meals are new to us, which is amazing since we subscribed to Cook Unity almost a year ago.  This goes to show there is such a wide variety to choose from that it has been nearly impossible to try each meal at least once--especially since we often repeat orders that have become our favorites. What George didn't mention was that I am also impressed with the reasonable price of the meals, especially when considering the high quality of the ingredients (including spices) used by the chefs.  Furthermore, I am impressed with the generous portions.  (George and I usually share one meal, which we sometimes supplement with a vegetable of salad.) I also like how well-balanced the meals are.  Many of the meals include a protein, a starch and a vegetable or several vegetables--all which are extremely well-prepared and seasoned.  It's fun trying different dishes because the celebrated chefs that prepare the meals come from many ethnic backgrounds.  So, Cook Unity offers Asian, Latin, European, American, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, African, and Caribbean cuisine.  Some of those categories are even broken down into sub-categories.  For example, Asian cuisine includes Indian, Korean, Tahi, Japanese, Chinese and other Asian dishes.  The menu includes breakfast, lunch and dinner items and the meals can also be customized according to one's preference--such as vegan, vegetarian, pescaba, keto diet, calorie smart or gut friendly.  Cook Unity is always making improvements to their service.  As George mentioned, I love the search engine, which allows me to look for a particular chef or type of dish (such as cauliflower rice, tofu or green rice) or a specific desert (such as Dubai Viral Chocolate cookie).  I am still exploring the recent upgrades to the search function. read more

FRAUD. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SERVICE. I tried it after receiving a gift card. Food tastes like glorified airplane food at $11.20 / piece. They also automatically charge your credit card and pre-choose your meals for you without your consent. Navigating the website is difficult, so figuring out how to cancel an order is difficult. That way, they can keep charging you and sending you their pre-chosen crappy food. For $11.20, I could get fresh food from a local restaurant. I can't emphasize enough how bad the food is and how small the quantity is. To become full, you'll need 2 units at $11.20/unit. So it's over $20 for glorified airplane food. Might as well pay $4 for frozen food at your local grocery store. Might as well get delivery from a local restaurant. Another downside is that you have to be at home during the window. If you're not there, too bad. Your food will rot unless you have a fridge in the package room. This is an awful business concept. read more

I am on my third week of meals and most of the meals have been good. On the positive side, it is so convenient and time saving and basically pretty flavorful. If you want to eat healthy you need to read the labels carefully. Many of the meals have too much sodium but some are labeled low sodium and some do not have the sodium amount at all. In addition some are high calorie but they do have a category of under 600 calorie meals. I was disappointed that I couldn't order a favorite meal the next week as it wasn't listed. Some meals I have supplemented with a salad. I do not find the website that user friendly. It takes time to get proficient in it. I don't like the idea of no phone number to call but the messages I left were answered fairly promptly. I like the idea of a pause for a break. So definitely worth a try and see for yourself. read more
