Not able to eat. The ground beef quality was thick chunks uneatable. The flavors is are nothing like your typical Shepherd's Pie. The veggies were hardly there so small to find. Mostly beef and very dry. Nothing like the video on this Cook Unity platform. Sorry Chef.

If you are someone who checks Yelp before trying a restaurant... I'm right there with you. And yes, I know... Cook Unity isn't technically a restaurant. But it kind of feels like you've curated a lineup of restaurant-quality meals and had them delivered straight to your door, ready to be reheated however you like (chef's recommendation in a pan or in the oven, or in the microwave... I choose the chef's route) What sets it apart is that it's a Chef's Marketplace. These aren't random meals. These are dishes created by actual chefs, people with accolades, restaurants, cookbooks, a following... all putting their menus into rotation for you to order from weekly. I've tried the typical meal prep brands that promise "easy" and "time-saving." That's great, but not if it comes at the expense of quality and taste. I switched to Cook Unity from Factor, and I haven't looked back. Honestly, I regret ever convincing myself that Factor was good enough. I know my reviews tend to be more detailed than most, but that's just how I am. I'm not paid for this, and I'm not trying to sell anything. I just appreciate when something actually delivers on what it promises. For context, I live alone, and while I enjoy cooking, it's not always practical. Between time, cost, and wasted ingredients, having restaurant-level meals at home just makes sense. Actually, it goes beyond that. I find myself reviewing almost every meal in the app because they're genuinely worth talking about. There are 300+ meals to choose from weekly, plus rotating new additions, premium options, snacks, desserts, and juice accompaniments. And the delivery has been solid, better handled than most traditional food delivery services I used to rely on. Personally, I run a two-weeks-on, one-week-off rhythm. It keeps things balanced and makes me appreciate it even more when I come back. And I get to cook and be purposeful for a week. Some standouts so far: - Chef Cat Cora -- Seared Salmon & Crispy Rice with Sriracha Mayo Firecracker Sauce - Chef Aarthi Sampath - Jamdown Jerk Chicken w/Coconut Rice & Roasted Plantains - Chef Esther Choi -- Miso Ramen with Chicken Katsu, Shiitake Mushrooms & Bok Choy - Chef Chris Ratel -- BBQ Chicken with Gooey Mac & Cheese (no exaggeration, one of the best mac & cheeses I've had) - Chef Anne Thornton -- Sweet Chili Tofu Bowl with Quinoa, Edamame & Broccoli (I re-plate my meals because it just feels better... but you do you... don't judge the pics, didn't realize I'd be making a review. But my mom loves to see what I eat!) If you made it this far, you already know this isn't a quick review (I rarely do a quick review lol). I just like highlighting companies that actually follow through on what they promise... and in this case, exceed expectations. Cook Unity definitely does. Hope you give it a shot!

Had a small delivery problem that Mateo handled almost before I finished telling him about it. The food is first class but not pocket draining. I keep coming back for amazing steak and perfect salmon, as well as the freshest shrimp. Might be time to branch out and try their interpretation of food I cook myself, like chicken and pork. It all looks good. I enjoyed their cheesecake and desserts also. I think this is the way delivery should be. read more

I was with a different healthy meal delivery service, but so glad I switched to CookUnity. The quality of the food is far above what you'd expect to get for around $15 -- and they deliver it to your door on time (usually an hour window which you can specify). It has made me a healthier eater and made my life a lot easier! read more

I'm very grateful for them. There are days I'm too tired to cook and the option of having healthy and skillfully cooked meals delivered is awesome. The portion size is right. The packaging is minimal and recyclable. Best is that the food is organically sourced and/or from sustainable sources. We are lucky to have this option. A+ Order with confidence. read more

Food is good, usually. Service is abysmal!! Food came 1 1/2 hours late and wasn't what was ordered. Took 30 min to get this resolved and the person on chat, Mateo, was incredibly rude. Will not be doing business with them again. read more

I'm sorry, but this place is a mess. Their app said I was being charged $10, then I got billed for $16 (2x delivery fee for some reason), so then I called and they agreed to remove the extra item that caused the double delivery fee, and then they still delivered the item and kept the original charge. I ended up having to go through my bank to dispute the charge. I could have cooked a full dinner for less effort. read more

Love the diversity of dishes from the team at CookUnity! Some of the best delivered meals have come from here - the Lamb Shank, Salmon, and Meatballs are all excellent - strong flavors, good portion sizes and I haven't had any problems with delivery at all. read more

Very happy I subscribed to this service a couple of months ago. I'm on the ten meals a week subscription (it may have changed since I signed up) and receive 5 meals twice a week. The food is overall very good! There are some misses, but for every miss there are two real hits. The food is always fresh, largely portioned and healthy. Regarding the subscription, it is very flexible and I can reschedule or skip a delivery easily. They still have some bugs to work out which is why I didn't give 5 stars, but I would definitely recommend! read more

This place is the worst! Good is NEVER on time! Again, I ordered at 6:30 pm. Food was supposed to arrive by 7:30 pm. 7:45 I called their customer service and she said it would be at my place in 5 minutes. 8 pm now and still not here. Now customer service line goes to voicemail and the box is full. I hope this place goes out of business soon! read more

Ordered Roasted shrimp by Chef Sam Fox. Portions were generous, including a side salad and a chocolate chip cookie. The taste was excellent. Delivery couldn't have been smoother, food was left with doorman. The convenience is top-notch, it's more expensive than healthy fast-food, but clearly cheaper than any restaurant. Where have you been all my life cook unity?!I have been blown away by restaurant quality meals with seamless style delivery and prices and the care and quality you would expect from a personal chef. The menu is varied, flavorful and balanced and I have ordered multiple times a week and saved time preparing meals - instead I get to sit down and enjoy an amazing meal with my family as soon as I get home. As a busy working mom, this time is priceless. It also gives me a chance to save time on making adult meals, so I can focus on making homemade baby food for our 10 month old! Some of my favorite meals: The lamb chops with sushi rice, the peruvian ceviche, the grilled shrimp with yucca, the chicken soft tacos. All great. A few nits: As someone who is gluten free and health conscious - I do wish there was a bit more emphasis on health - sometimes it feels a little heavy on the salt and cream - and the dessert chocolate chip cookies get a bit boring (and are NOT gluten free). The sides could also use a little more TLC - the salads are often unimaginative and imbalanced (heavy on the greens light on the veggies) and it would be great to have more of the non-salad sides like watermelon salad and spanish rice. Other than that, stellar service. read more

As someone who has to order from Seamless every evening for work, CookUnity is the greatest thing that has happened to me during my two years of (before now) eating typically unhealthy, overly salted Seamless food. Finally an option that gives you transparency on ingredients / health information while offering tasty, artisan meals. Wonderful gourmet meals made with organic ingredients. Much better than takeout because the meals are intended to be heated at home in the microwave or oven, whereas takeout/delivery food is often cold or soggy. Great customer service -- you can talk or chat with a real person. All meals come with a side dish. The BBQ chicken with mac and cheese was out of this world. The portions are generous. read more

I've been ordering from CU for over a year now and can honestly say I have never had a bad meal. The ingredients they use are high quality and they offer a variety of options (steak, chicken fish etc). I love the steak options and the meatballs with zoodles!!! Their customer service is friendly and always helpful. I recently signed up for the delivery service and appreciate that they offer you the option to change meals and sides. read more

I have been ordering from CookUnity with some degree of consistency over the last year. The food is great- very delicious (although I am somewhat skeptical about the calorie counts given that the food is so filling and delicious!) and wholesome (real, fresh ingredients). A great option for ordering healthy, convenient food, and certainly much better than most take out places! I've also had amazing experiences with their customer service. Highly recommend! read more

This is absolutely the worst food delivery service in all of Manhattan, hands down. First of all, it took an hour and a half for my COLD food to arrive. Secondly, they charged me well over what the app said it was charging me AND did not give me an opportunity to leave a tip. When the food finally did come, it arrived cold, and after heating it up, it was nearly inedible. The chicken tasted like dry cardboard and the rice had so much cilantro in it it tasted like I was eating soap. The dish was advertised as "chicken and fennel" and I literally got two leaves of fennel and that is all. I will never use this app again. It was much better when it was still Goodmeal. read more

Not clear enough on their site and Seamless that "the food is sent out chilled and YOU have to cook it ... a meal card comes with the order as to how it needs to be cooked." So after you wait an hour plus, microwave your meals that you paid $50 for, you'll be motivated to learn to cook yourself and save your money. read more

We tried cook unity the other night and did not really know what to expect. Imagine how excited we were when our dinner arrived as the said it would it was delicious. The filet was pink and my chicken was moist. I may never cook again and it is perfect if you are trying to control you portions. Yeah! read more

Exactly what you would expect. Good food at a competitive price. I got home right as the person was supposed to arrive and they were there waiting. I had their steak dish and it was quite delicious. Definitely would use the service again. Much better than other places where you sign up and they keep sending until you say stop -- CookUnity isn't like that, you pick what you want and they send it once and then if you want more you can order again. read more

I hope Cook Unity is here to stay - I love their food!!! I've had a 4-meal-a-week subscription for a couple of months now. The food is delicious and very reasonably priced for an entree! The portion size is generous as well. The food was delivered at the very beginning of the 30 min delivery time frame and was quick and easy to heat up. I had the steak and corn/bean salad and it was delicious. Two thumbs up for CookUnity! I ordered the Maple Mustard Salmon and it was so delicious. The dish is light and fresh. I also ordered Banana bread and i recommend for you guys to try it! I tried CookUnity for the first time and would definitely recommend it. I ordered fish on a truffle potato mash - it also came with a side salad with a very nice dressing and a rice crispy for dessert (both of which I didn't know I was going to get, so it was a nice surprise!). Ordering and delivery were very straight forward - food came on time and was nicely packaged with easy heating instructions. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that the food was a bit too rich for me - next time I would try to find a slightly lighter option. In general though, I think the food choices are better than Munchery and you don't need to order sides or dessert because they're already included. read more

I love CookUnity! They change the menu daily and you can pre-order for whatever delivery frame time you want. You have like 6 options per day. I love to order the steak or a salmon option, the price is very reasonable. The food is awesome! Everything is so tasty, homemade and healthy! Great concept. Great food. Love that it's healthy and affordable compared to some other NYC delivery options. Delivery is generally great as well. One big problem - quantity! They always seem to run out early in the evening (i.e. it's 5:15 p.m. and their update email tells me that there are only 6 salmon dishes left in all of New York). Please PLEASE increase the quantity of meals being made every day so that I don't have to order from somewhere else anytime after 7:00 p.m. read more

I am rarely motivated to write reviews on yelp for takeout food. But this one makes sense because on the three occasions I have ordered CookUnity it has never felt like a take out experience in terms of interface and easy of ordering, delivery times, the packaging, and most importantly food quality! They have multiple options on most nights, and at least one if not more of them have sounded appealing to both my girlfriend and I each time. Every dish comes with a tasty side, mashed potatoes, salads, grilled veggies etc. and the portions are healthy. They tell you where the ingredients come from and who cooked the meal. It seems that having multiple chefs that specialize in cooking a particular meal is a winning strategy. I've tried munchery, sprig etc. but how many unique awesome meals can one head-chef create? The meals at CookUnity feel like each of my close friends moms made their signature dish and deliver it to my door step. No better way to feel right at home! read more

From the moment we walked into Picnic (a digital ordering food court where multiple kitchens operate under one roof and you input your order electronically) the staff (Kai) was incredibly kind and accommodating, taking the time to recommend the honey BBQ pork combo--and wow, we are so glad we listened. The meal came complete with fluffy rice, a perfectly cooked fried egg, and a freshly prepared salad of crisp lettuce, sweet corn, and carrots tossed in a light, refreshing vinaigrette. The combo even included a water or soda, which felt like such a thoughtful touch. This meal was truly the highlight of our day. It tasted home-cooked, savoury, well-prepared, generously portioned, and absolutely scrumptious. Every bite was comforting and balanced, not heavy or rushed--just honest, delicious food made with care. We're Filipino-Canadian and lucky enough to have some of the best Chinese, Thai, and Vietnamese food on the West Coast (Vancouver!), and this meal genuinely tasted like home. That says everything. The chirashi had a variety of sashimi, lots of ikura and plenty of sushi rice. It's very good but for $50 I'd rather kick in more $ for the omakase. Maki Flight is great, $21 for a sampling of their three best rolls. It's 12 pieces total but they're nice size with a good amount of filling. If you're looking to treat yourself for lunch or maybe a nicer dinner takeaway - solid choice. I'm convinced enough that I'll try Joji for real one night.

I hate cooking to the point that I tell people it is a religious belief for me not to ever do it. I'm not a food-motivated person and I just need enough food to not pass out so meal services have always been the way to go for me. I tried Nutrisystem first but I got bored with the meals and the price was right, but the quality was not so great. I then switched to Factor. Factor was fine and the quality was better than Nutrisystem, but it was hit or miss and there were ALWAYS stems in my green beans so I got fed up and switched to Cook Unity on the recommendation from a foodie friend of mine. I have been using Cook Unity for over a year now and I love it! The meals are awesome, the quality is great and they keep delicious, nutritious staples and are adding new meals and cycling them all the time. The website is fairly easy to navigate using filters to find meals that meet your dietary needs and to exclude options that don't match your preferences or any dietary restrictions. That being said, I would like to start my subsequent diatribe by saying I do not think the following experience is typical to all Cook Unity users and is most likely a symptom of logistical issues Cook Unity had when they were slightly less popular/in demand in my city (Seattle, WA) that have now been fully resolved: The only reason that this review is getting 4 stars instead of 5 was that it was a logistical nightmare to initially start getting deliveries to my apartment. I live in a smallish apartment complex that utilizes a call box to buzz in and out guests and delivery services and building management is rarely present on site. Cook Unity gave me an 9-hour window (11:00am-8:00pm) on Sundays for deliveries and while I do get a text saying my delivery is on the way with a GPS tracker saying how many stops away the delivery driver is, it would initially give really wide estimates of when the delivery would actually arrive and several for deliveries, the delivery would show up 4+ hours after the original delivery estimate (for example, for one delivery I received a text that said my delivery would arrive at 11:44am then it actually arrived after 7:00pm). This translated to me missing deliveries because I was unable to answer the phone for the entire delivery window. The driver left without delivering the food and Cook Unity said they couldn't redeliver or give me a refund or discount on the missed delivery because it was my fault. I, of course, threw a fit because there was no way I was going to pay them over $100 because their delivery estimates were unreliable and I was unable to sit by my phone for nine full hours simply waiting for their call. Their customer service eventually did agree to give me a 50% discount on the missed order so I was still out $50-$60, but it was better than being stuck with the entire loss, so I am thankful for that and do understand that they couldn't reuse the food and did have to pay the driver so fair is fair. This issue was resolved when my apartment building was able to provide Cook Unity with their own personal access code so building management could let them in as needed. Once Cook Unity got the delivery code we had no further access issues, I haven't missed any deliveries and over time, the deliveries have become more consistent and started to arrive around the same time on the delivery days. The delivery people are super friendly and communicative if there are any issues (contacting via phone and/or text). I can assume that this initial delivery set-up issue is fairly uncommon though and would not occur if you are having your meals delivered to a standalone house, to an apartment complex that has building management on site to receive packages or if you live in a complex/building that already receives Cook Unity deliveries. If you are in a secure apartment building/complex, I recommend reaching out to your property management before choosing Cook Unity to inquire if Cook Unity already has access, if they can assist with receiving deliveries or if you have the ability to set up access for them once you start your subscription. I have had a couple of other instances where I had to contact Cook Unity customer service for order issues (just simple mistakes in the orders that will happen with any delivery service over time) and they have been extremely helpful, understanding and quick to respond. I received a 50% discount on a single order for posting this review. read more

If you love food and love to cook, why would you ever need meals prepared and mailed to you? This was my position for years while food meal services blossomed all over the country. Then a medical event occurred which made it impossible for me to shop and cook. My wife did not want the position of being our household cook. When my sister-in-law recommended Cook Unity, which offered so much variety of meals and flexibility for each member to order exactly what they wanted, we gave it a try. We have not been disappointed in any meal and I mean any meal. Certainly, they are some meals we like more than others, but we have truly enjoyed each meal. The quality of the ingredients is excellent and the creative recipes have been delightful. One member is a keto person, my wife is a pescatarian and I love meat and veggies. None of us have had one problem finding meals that suit our diet and appetite. The portions are adequate but no second helpings which for some of us is a good thing. We have only been ordering dinner meals and a dessert one time. It was cherry crepes and it exceeded my expectations. The meals come cooked and carefully packaged ready to heat in the oven at 350 degrees or microwave, which we have not done. We enjoy reading the bios of the Chefs who are part of Cook Unity and now that we are our 6th week, we are developing favorite Chefs. Also Cook Unity offers international cooking and we have ordered Indian, Thai, Mexican, and Italian. The shrimp and salmon in the dishes has been top quality as well as the beef. The hanger steak and the All American Pot Roast are two of my personal favorites. The average cost is $11.99 unless you order a premium meal which can add $2.99 to $6.99 depending on how premium it is. There is no way I can shop and cook and produce these quality meals for $11.99 each. Even for someone who loves to cook, it is nice to have a break some nights and not have to come up with a dish. We chose the 4 nights a week plan which means 8 meals a week for the two of us, sometimes 12 meals when our roommate participates. None of us have one complaint about the food. We live in rural Maine, so we have had delivery issues but the Cook Unity staff addresses any concern quickly and will credit any meal that is not delivered in the best condition. (Full disclosure: I tried CookUnity through a Yelp Elite promotion) At first glance, it's a brilliant model - I've described it to friends a HelloFresh for lazy people. There is a great selection of meals fitting a variety of diets. Pricing is a little steep ($12-16 per entree), but it is admittedly comparable to my delivery options on the UES. I also like the delivery updates that have been pretty accurate in my experience. Panko Crusted Salmon with Ginger Beets ($16): salmon was well-seasoned and perfectly cooked in the oven, crispy broccoli, and roasted beets are always a win. I didn't realize the beets had ginger, but they were tasty nonetheless. I was pleasantly surprised by how large the portion of fish was so that's always a plus. Definitely a filling and worthwhile meal. (*For anyone trying this option, save the sauce for the end - 10sec in the microwave to warm it, but it'll make the fish soggy if you add it at the start) Grilled Salmon with Roasted Radishes ($16): smaller portion of salmon, but still tasty. For some reason, I ended up having to wrap the salmon in aluminum foil individually and giving it an extra 5 mins in the oven since it wasn't cooked through. The brown rice pilaf was really delicious and filling, and I enjoyed the cilantro sauce over the top of everything. All in all, a worthwhile concept but maybe a little outside my budget. I normally don't leave reviews, and when I do, I try to be fair and balanced. In this case, though, I'm honestly struggling to come up with anything negative to say. I signed up for CookUnity last month and am now going into my fifth week. To say I've been pleasantly surprised would be an understatement. While I'm not a picky eater by any stretch, I'd like to think I have a fairly experienced palate after trying all kinds of foods over the years. Because of that, I honestly wasn't expecting the quality I've received. The meals consistently taste fresh, flavorful, and far better than I ever expected from a prepared meal service. The pricing is also very reasonable when I look at what I was spending before. I used to order DoorDash or Uber Eats 3 to 4 times a week, usually spending $30 to $40 per order. Now I'm paying around $100 a week for six meals that are already prepared, ready to eat, and genuinely enjoyable. I've tried roughly 24 meals so far, and there has only been one that I didn't finish. I don't even remember why, which probably says something. The portions are satisfying, the meals take about 3 minutes in the microwave, and the containers are oven safe if you have a little more patience than I do. Honestly, they'd probably taste even better in the oven, but I'm usually too hungry to wait. One thing I didn't expect was how much this would help my day to day routine. I work long hours, often from 8 AM to 8 PM, and I have a bad habit of getting so focused on work that I forget to eat. I have been on long term disability for a long time and am not mobile enough to get my own groceries and cook even though I love to do so. I have tried many other prepared food services such as Hello Fresh, Real Eats, Factor, before I found CookUnity and I have to say that CookUnity is far and away the BEST. The food offerings are so varied, at least 200+ offerings each week and the menu changes every week, with every kind of diet, Mediterranean, Paleo, Keto, etc. on offer. It has allowed me to enjoy a varied and nutritious diet at a very affordable price and to keep my food costs fixed which is very important when you are on long term disability and limited income. I also appreciate the treats because you always need a treat every now and then, the Tiramisu is my absolute favorite. And the juices as well are very good. The meals are truly delicious, containing quality ingredients, prepared with care by award winning chefs and delivered with care also. I feel full and satisfied after every meal, I appreciate the proportions, they are just right. I am also impressed with the shelf life of the meals, even on the 7th day of the week the meals are still fresh and good. And most importantly because of my condition, unlike with the other prepared food companies I mentioned, CookUnity always delivers directly to my door. I have only had an issue with delivery twice and it was resolved quickly, fully and with compassion both times. Customer service is also top notch. The meals come in insulated bags with ice packs to keep the meals cool which are both reusable. The bags themselves are lovely and high quality and I have given many to my friends and family who really appreciate them. I am beyond grateful for the CookUnity service and offerings. I don't know how I would have survived without CookUnity these past months. I started with a 6 meal a week plan and I am currently now using a 12 meal a week plan. I am disappointed with CookUnity, a meal delivery service that claims to provide tasty meals and convenient service. While the food is great, I cannot say the same about my overall experience with them. Let me explain the reasons for my frustration, including their unprofessional delivery service and deceptive discount policies. First, let's acknowledge the positive: the food. CookUnity's meals are undeniably delicious, with a great variety of flavors and high-quality ingredients. However, this positive aspect is overshadowed by the many problems I've encountered with their service. Their delivery service is simply unacceptable. I have consistently received damaged boxes with exposed and even spoiled food items. It's disheartening to eagerly anticipate a fresh and satisfying meal, only to be met with disappointment. In addition, I had to cancel my subscription due to these recurring issues. When they offered me a "60% discount on my next 4 orders" to keep my business, they conveniently failed to mention that these orders had to be consecutive and that there was a one-month expiration period for the discount. As I was traveling internationally for about 25 days, I naturally skipped my orders during that time. When I returned, I realized that the discount had expired, leaving me without the promised benefit. What makes matters worse is that CookUnity never clearly communicated the conditions of the discount when they offered it. They misled me by saying the discount would apply to my "NEXT 4 orders," without mentioning the expiration period. It's their responsibility as a service provider to be upfront and clearly communicate such important details to customers. My first less than perfect meal shipment in March 2023 with CookUnity redeemed itself. All of the meals arrived with the plastic seals opened and several of the meals spilled. Customer service via chat with Lucas offered a a full refund if I could forward photos of the meals. In two days, my account was credited. We tried the Kale Salad with Herb-Marinated Chicken and Creamy Pesto Dressing and the Seared Shrimp with Avocado Sauce that night and found them both delectable! The next night was Roasted Brussel Sprouts Seared Garlic Flank Steak with Charred Broccoli. The steak was seasoned but chewy, the veggies were outstanding. Grilled Chicken with Carrot Thyme Purée was also sumptuous. My 2nd order didn't apply my original discount from the introductory order during check out. I emailed customer service and again was immediately contacted by Luis. The discount was applied to my account and calculated correctly during check out. We thoroughly enjoyed the next meals: Low-Carb Turkey Patties with Lemon Aioli, Beef Empanadas with Chimichurri Sauce, Creamy Poblano Chicken and Roasted Shrimp and Eggplant. Each dish was well seasoned, and those that came with individual sauce cups were exceptionally flavorful. We followed the chef's instructions to oven bake the meals and within 15-18 minutes they were ready. We have been satisfied with CookUnity's customer service and product during this season of rest from cooking all week. They send a friendly text reminder to create our next menu. Should we miss the deadline, they send their best selections based on previous orders and personalized profiles that we completed. I've enjoyed the meals, they're genuinely great. For several weeks, I purchased around 16 meals a week, and I was initially impressed. However, my experience with their customer service left much to be desired. Here's what happened: they send reminders for the cutoff time to select your meals. I missed it by about 20 minutes but quickly reached out to resolve the issue. Customer service assured me it wasn't a problem and instructed me to select my meals. I followed their guidance, made my selections, and received confirmation that everything was taken care of. But then, I got a text saying they couldn't honor my choices and would send me random meals instead. I reminded them of our earlier conversation and explained that this wasn't what I wanted. Their response? "There's nothing we can do now." The frustrating part is that, based on their schedule, the meals they planned to send me weren't even going to be packaged for another four days. Changing a few meal selections during that time should have been simple. Instead, they offered to cancel my shipment but refused to refund my money, citing their "terms." To make matters worse, they warned me not to dispute the charge with my credit card company, claiming it wouldn't make a difference. I have been using Cook Unity meal delivery service for a couple of years now and really like how it saves lots of time and effort on food prep and shopping, and on decision-making time when ordering take out, with much more variety than I could ever pull off cooking for myself. It takes less time to order for one week of food from Cook Unity, than it takes for one shopping trip and dinner prep or ordering for one meal from a new restaurant where I'm unfamiliar with all of the menu choices. Cook Unity works for me because I love variety and there are so many delicious and healthy meals to choose from every week! There are meals for every kind of diet and preference, as well as desserts, splurges, and fancier meals. Sometimes there were issues navigating the app, like it deleted all my choices when I went to change one meal and missed the deadline, or it didn't allow me to confirm my choices before deadline one time, or I couldn't figure out how to change the date of delivery, or they missed picking up reusable bags, but the customer service by email and text is fast and helpful. They have good discounts, promotions, and credit for referrals, as well as it being easy to skip weeks, pause, or cancel. So it's very flexible and doesn't feel locked into an inescapable subscription. I also like how the delivery bag and ice packs are reusable and not like other meal delivery services that have boxes and packing that goes into trash or recycling. Disappointing Management & Zero Curb Appeal at their Hyattsville, MD facility If how a company treats its surroundings is any indication of how it operates, then this meal prep company raises serious red flags. The area in front of their warehouse is a complete mess -- and it doesn't look like an isolated incident. There's trash everywhere: plastic wrap, water bottles, food containers, blue gloves, broken-down cardboard -- much of it seemingly related to the business itself. Even worse, delivery operations are happening right on the public sidewalk and street, with pallets of meals and bags scattered around. Despite a clearly visible "NO DUMPING" sign, this area looks like it's been neglected for weeks, if not longer. Overgrown grass, broken sidewalks, exposed wires, and littered curbs make the space look unsafe and unprofessional -- especially for a company in the food industry. I wouldn't be writing this if it were just a one-time issue. But from what I've seen, this is consistent negligence, not just a bad day. Final Thoughts: If they treat the outside of their facility like this, it makes you wonder how carefully they treat the food inside. It also shows a disregard for the community and basic cleanliness. My menu this week includes Malaysian Fish, Lobster Ravioli, Jamaican Braised Oxtail over Penne, Sumac and Oregano Roasted Salmon, Beef Stroganoff with Truffles, Moroccan Chicken with Couscous, Adobo Hangar Steak, and Anthony Nichols Puerto Rican Sazon Shrimp Soup that I try to order every week because it is so good I literally use it to cut with inferior soup I get from take-out. All of this, All of this for about $100-$120 this week. My career is restaurant/bar work. I earned my 2nd level sommelier accreditation in 2015. The misconception is that just because you work in Michelin Star restaurants and kitchens is that you eat right. That's not right. Long shifts and late nights mean that we may be serving you Wagyu Beef but we're going home and eating Taco Bell. I've tried Hello Fresh, I've tried Blue Apron. I don't have the time or energy to spend 2 hours prepping, cooking, cleaning a meal that you purport takes 20 minutes. CookUnity is the first meal service that truly speaks to my necessities. I've been using CookUnity for many months, maybe closer to a year now, after trying a couple different food delivery services. It's by far the best one, for a couple reasons. First, the food is amazing! It's always very fresh, and doesn't ever feel like "leftovers" like Factor kind of does. The number of choices is incredible-- other places have maybe 20 to 50 meals you can choose from, and CookUnity has hundreds! This is important because I need to watch my saturated fat intake, which has been tricky to do with other services. You can easily sort by types of food, diets, protein, etc., to help you find the right things. The dietary info is easy to find and read. I'm not vegetarian or vegan, but probably half of my weekly meals are, because I've discovered new things that are delicious and are low in saturated fat. I didn't really set out to find new "healthy" food on purpose, so it's pretty cool that I have at least one really good meal a day that I love! Finally, their customer service is fantastic-- I've had maybe two small issues (something left off the order, I think one time the seal had broken on one item), and they gave me super quick responses that took care of the problem. I'm so happy I found a way to get good food without cooking and buying groceries that end up going to waste. I look forward to Mondays because that's when my delivery comes! read more

There are so many options to choose from by adding things like nutritional goals, flavor profiles, dietary restrictions, preferences, allergies, etc. Low carb, low sodium, low calorie, gluten free, (or none of the above), spicy, mild, even dietary lifestyles like pescatarian, keto, vegan, vegetarian, as well as cusine syles like american, asian, indian, mexican, italian, mediterranian, and more. You can filter things like protein, veggie, and carb to only view meals with all 3 in each dish. The options are endless. If you have a super busy week and can not select your meals, they will select them for you based on your preferences. They'll send reminders when it is time to select your meals. If you want to skip a week or more, it's as easy as clicking the button to skip that week. You can use the app or the site. I personally prefer the app, but they both work. There is even a window that you can change the meals you have selected for future weeks. I almost forgot to mention that you get discounts for referring other busy people like yourself. It saves time from cooking/cleaning, money, gas, and guess work. Cook Unity even has a quick and responsive customer care team. They'll listen to you and help at any time of day! I was skeptical of prepared meal delivery services for a while and had preconceptions that they'd be like frozen microwavable dinners you get at the supermarket. I heard of services like blue apron and factor, and was even trying Meal Pal at the time. But due to my work schedule just getting out of control, I needed something that saved me the effort of cooking, and me having to go pick up my meals during lunch. After I saw my co-workers using cook unity, I decided to jump onto the bandwagon, and it became a choice I have not regret. Aside from saving me time, the freshness, variety, and portions were what stood out amongst the rest. I think my stomach shrank, and probably lost some weight along the way too. Most meals are reasonably portion, if it isn't write a review. I would like to believe the peeps making the meals are listening. Think personal meal prep, but instead from a range of world class chefs. Even my dad who's never impressed with anything was impressed. And the customer service is amazing, shout out to Marie for the great assist! Cook Unity has been around since the 2010s, and I'm pretty sure if they're still here that means something. They may have had bumps along the way, but perfecting things take time. I highly recommend everyone like me to give it a try, YOLO. read more
