    The view from the lighthouse!

Memo gave us a great tour of the history of PV on the breakfast tour, and also showed us some great taco restaurants/stands on the taco 101 tour. I highly recommend booking direct through the website over other sites. This is a must see tour! I'll be back!

I was skeptical if it's worth doing a tour, but it is! I highly recommend doing the tour if you *aren't* staying in the Hotel Zone. You want to go back to these taco stands so I find this tour less worth it if it's a hassle to come back later. I also recommend doing it at the beginning of your stay so you can find stands you like during the tour and keep coming back. Lastly, don't bother with all you can eat unless you really can eat a lot. It most likely is cheapest to just do pay-what-you-can & directly compensate Memo well! Book through his website, he seems to prefer it. We did the tour during the celebration of a Mexican National Holiday so I believe the stands we visited aren't his normal route. There was about 11 of us and we visited 4 stands then ended with paletas at La Michoacana. We tried Puerto Vallarta style carna asada tacos, carnitas tacos, then a seafood restaurant/stand. Our last stand was our favorite, where we tried cabeza, ojo, & tripa tacos. I think cabeza was the best, but the ojo tasted like Pho if you've had it & I loved it! I suggest making note of where you like most then ask their hours and try to come back at night when more stands are open! A lot of stands open at 6 it seems so you can have one guaranteed place you like but also hop around and try other stands. Overall, great experience!

We had the BEST time on our daytime walking tour with Vallarta 101 and Memo! Tacos 101!! Memo was so friendly and extremely knowledgeable about PV, the neighborhoods we strolled through and all the tacos we ate. He gave lessons on how to properly dress our tacos, explained how they were made, brought us to a tortilla factory for fresh off the press tortillas, pointed out and explained landmarks on our walk.. it was wonderful and our family had a blast walking, learning and eating. I highly recommend this tour whether it's your first visit to PV or your 50th. Memo makes it a fun and enjoyable few hours to get out of the tourist areas and into the real neighborhoods and meeting the local residents. 10/10!! Thank you Memo!

The Taco101 tour with Memo was an amazing, informative, and delicious experience that we would recommend to anyone planning a visit to Puerto Vallarta. All the food and drinks are included, with freedom for seconds and thirds, if one serving isn't enough. (But pace yourself to save room for all the stops along the tour!) At each location, Memo explained the highlighted dish, offered his recommendations, placed the order, paid for the meal, and tipped for the service--allowing us to enjoy the meal without worrying about price or whether we'd be tipping enough. (As American citizens, we think in USD and not MXN pesos). While we could have ordered any taco we wanted, as the tour guide, Memo knew the "best" item on the menu and based his recommendations off of the locations we would be visiting so we'd get a variety of tacos that touched on each staple of the area. This made the process super easy, as we didn't have to spend any time looking over the menus and were never disappointed with his recommendations. **Booking considerations: Memo said he typically caps the tour sizes to 6-8 people to ensure it feels like a small, intimate experience. We booked this tour during the offseason. For those who are unaware, offseason lasts from June through mid October due to heat, humidity, and rain. Because of this, my husband and I were the only guests on the tour. While some might view this as a negative, we thought it enhanced the experience, giving us a private tour that was more personal and tailored to us. Two of the stops were air conditioned restaurants with indoor seating, a welcomed chance to cool off. The other two taco stands were outdoors. From one traveler to another, you have to go to the outdoor stands..Despite the heat and humidity, going in the off-season to increase the likelihood of a "private" tour was completely worth it. Just note to wear light, breathable clothes and be prepared to sweat if there's no breeze. This tour is a must--so if climate is of concern, don't forego the tour, just plan to visit during the cooler months instead. ** Dietary considerations: I am gluten intolerant. At the beginning of the tour while chatting with Memo, I disclosed my gluten allergy. Like magic, Memo immediately re-structured the tour locations, eliminating one taco stand due to their flour tortillas and substituted it with another stand he knew was 100% corn. For someone who has to constantly check and recheck with service staff at restaurants for gluten content, it was nice to have that concern removed and trust Memo's guidance for a completely gluten-free experience. We 100% recommend this taco tour with Vallarta101 and look forward to experiencing the other tours they offer on future Puerto Vallarta trips.

Memo was an awesome tour guide, we can't wait to take another tour with him!! I would recommend anyone wanting to take a street taco tour Memo is the guy!

My bf and I did a seafood tour with Memo when we were in PV and it was fantastic! Definitely helped that we were the only 2 people on the tour so we got a very personal experience. Not only did he bring us to some very tasty places but Memo's demeanor and knowledge made it worthwhile; we ran into quite a few people he had done tours with before and they all had nothing but nice things to say. We ended up going back to a couple of the places he brought us to! And not only was he kind enough to share food tips but also gave us suggestions for other entertainment. You could tell he's passionate about what he does. Couldn't recommend this company more, especially with it being locally owned and managed.

We Absolutely Loved our Taco Tour with Memo. We stipped a seven different places. Each specialized in a different style of Taco. With each stop ranking them in order of Amazingness became tougher and tougher. Our guide took the time to explain the different varieties as well as a bit of history at each stop. My only regret was not begging for a container of the homemade Chilie Oil from the place that specializes in Barria style. We enjoyed every minute of the tour...

Wow! I have been on many food tours throughout the world but never have had an experience quite like this one. Love this venture's laid back attitude. I would call it a company but Memo (our guide and venture creator) explained that he doesn't like to be boxed in by labels. He is just a guy who loves to share his city with people. There is no fee for the tour and you buy your own food. He asks that you just tip what you feel is appropriate at the end of the tour. We did the Taco 101 tour. We went to five different taco places. Only one was a restaurant and the others were all street carts. They were all amazing and so so cheap! We had everything from a breakfast taco with eggs, meat and beans to seafood and on to different meats. Memo explained that different types of tacos are traditionally eaten at different times of day. We did and afternoon tour, if we did a night tour there would be different tacos to taste. Memo gave us a really good tip that we will certainly use in the future - try all the salsas first by putting just a drop on the back of your hand and tasting. This way you just how hot or mild the salsa is and if the flavor is to your liking. Can't believe we never though of this before but we will do it all the time now! We loved Memo's energy and enthusiasm. There wasn't too much walking so it would be okay for most. I would skip it if you are a vegetarian though.

Memo was great for the evening taco tour! He took our family and one other on this tour. Started with a seafood restaurant, then beef head stand, another wonderful taco stand, another restaurant and then ended with ice cream. I definitely recommend this tour

Best walking tour in PV, so glad to have discovered Vallarta 101. I highly recommend you take this tour on your first day in town. Meeting spot is at the food truck park. We had so much fun with Ana, it felt like we have known her for years. She showed us how to take the bus to avoid using the overpriced taxis. We walked along the Malecon boardwalk, and strolled through the streets of old town and romantic zone. We also got a chance to stop along the way to do some local shopping and have some fresh fish tacos...(best in my life). And also we had some fresh coconut, right from the street. Ana takes you only to the safest spots to eat/drink and we did not get sick. Plenty of beautiful photo opportunities if that is your thing. She also is able to customize your tour to your liking. I requested to not go to the touristy spots. Overall this was an amazing day in PV filled with memories that will last a lifetime and now we both have a new friend. This is a free walking tour but please don't forget to tip generously, she deserves it. Thank you Ana! We will Be back to see you. Julie and Sherry

Sylvie was very easy going listener to what we wanted and made our experience custom and better than anyone else could. Plus she responded quickly! And we were booking less than 24 hours out, so that was super helpful! We did a walking tour the first day and she picked us up to drive us around the second day to spots we missed and to go outside the city. This woman has a fantastic memory and knows EVERYBODY! She is originally Canadian but speaks excellent Spanish and isn't shy. When my friend wanted a special alcohol that's hard to find, Sylvie called a friend who owned a restaurant, they opened up just for us and Sylvie took us there even though our time indicated she should be dropping us at our hotel. When she took us to Gringo Gulch, to see The actor Richard Burtons home/Hacienda San Angel (which we heard was 800-1000 a night to stay in) she made a call and got us in there for a private tour (it was just me and a friend). Sylvie was extremely personal and really becomes your friend. The first day at the walking tour it was soooo unseasonably hot that a girl in our group got heat sick and everyone was done about halfway through because we were miserable. So Sylvie rose in a cab with the girl to make sure she got back to her condo ok. We would highly recommend her. Because of the small groups and custom tours, she'll take you where you really want to go and make sure you get the best deals.

The tour was not only beautiful but deeply educational, teaching us about the butterflies' delicate life cycles, the native plants that sustain them, and the quiet miracles unfolding around every leaf and petal. The sanctuary feels like stepping into a hidden garden, a place where wonder is still alive. Being here was a powerful reminder of how fragile -- and how precious -- the natural world truly is. In a time when environmental protections are being threatened and education funding is being cut, spaces like this, and the knowledge they safeguard, are more vital than ever. Learning about the fragile ecology that supports life -- and experiencing its beauty firsthand -- makes you realize just how urgently we must protect it, and how connected we are to every living thing around us. A few tips: * The sanctuary is tucked away in a remote area, with very limited cell phone service. I highly recommend arranging transportation ahead of time for both arrival and departure. (Our guide, incredibly kind, let us borrow his hotspot to call an Uber, which we paid for in cash.) * Wear closed-toed shoes! Among the beauty, some less-welcome critters -- like spiders and scorpions -- live alongside the butterflies! A little preparation will make your visit more comfortable. If you have a heart for nature, for wonder, and for learning, this sanctuary is a treasure -- a living, breathing reminder of the beauty we are called to protect.

We balked at this because so many are tourist traps operated by non-Mexican large companies, but then we found Vallarta Local and decided to give them a try as they are locally owned. I'm so glad we did. We did the Breakfast Tacos tour and it was one of the most memorable tours we've ever done. AnnaLo was a fantastic guide and educated us not only about the city itself, but the history of different tacos and local cuisine. We visited six taco stands owned by local families, all of which have perfected their own meats and styles. Every taco was better than the last. And the sauces! My gosh, the varied and delicious sauces that each stand offered were unlike anything I've ever had before. It's hard to find sauces like this in America because everything is either not fresh or watered down, and I will never forget the nuances of flavors that every sauce added to every unique taco. Afterwards, we visited a fresh fruit popsicle shop and the place where most local tortillas are made. We both got a freshly made tortilla and a bit of salt and rolled it up to enjoy like a snack while AnnaLo told us about the importance of tortillas and how eating tortillas as a snack reminds most Mexicans of their childhood, picking up tortillas on their way home from school. It was truly a journey and we both left full. By the end, AnnaLo felt less like a tour guide and more like a friend that we've known for a while. Getting to know her was a highlight of the trip in itself. We hope to return to Puerto Vallarta soon, and when we do, we will absolutely be booking another tour.
