They have one of the biggest plant selections I've ever seen in Utah. Not only do they have a massive selection it's also maintained and very organized. You can tell they care about every customers because even if they are selling plants they make sure to let u know when it's a good time to plant or not plant certain plants. They have signs that help customers know when to plant. They have employees everywhere maintaining plants and helping customers. I easily spent a hour and a half of just looking at all the different plants. The prices for the plants are very realistic and the plants are always healthy. I've never had anything I've bought from them die. They have the most beautiful hanging baskets I've ever seen it's become a tradition every year for Mother's Day to get my mother two massive hanging baskets which last all the way to November. When the neighbors see them they ask where we got them so they can pick themselves up one as well. I love cooks so much that I bring people there all the time to get the cooks experience! read more

They have the most beautiful flowers. They are homegrown right here in Utah so you know we'll work in your yard. They have advice for every part of each city around here to let you know what goes well and their prices are the best. I've never been to another nursery as great as this one All their employees really know all about flowers and trees not like going to Walmart where they have no idea about their plants that aren't even grown in Ut We buy all of our flowers hanging plants trees, only from cooks because they're the best. They've only had great customer service here. I don't know what little things other people have complained about, but it must've been somebody's off day because that's not their norm. read more

I've spent quite a bit of money on trees and plants here - not anymore though. I bought an apricot tree there this year and it had a few spots on the leaves. I didn't realize this was a problem until it spread all over in just a few weeks. When I called and emailed pictures they said this is common blight- blamed it on the wet year we had (which we didn't have a wet year) and said good luck with that there is nothing we can do for you. Not even a discount for another tree. I called other nurseries and they said they would replace a tree that came with that especially when it happened in such a short time after purchasing. I guess I'm going to have to pay a little more for better service and peace of mind. read more

Went back again and this time I was in search of plants for the yard specifically Bleeding heart bushes. Lo and behold they had them, not bare roots for planting or tiny weak looking plants. These guys were at least 8 in tall. I also found a good variety of herbs and salad greens. Again the place was extremely busy in my opinion but the employees insist it was a slow day. Two stars for their indoor plants selection. Although this place is always crowded with people, I did not see why Cook's was so popular other than being a very big nursery with a large variety of plants. As I came for indoor plants, I was very disappointed to see how all of the calatheas were dead. In addition, I only found 2-3 snake plants, and did not find the indoor plant I was looking for. I definitely expected more from Cook's! For the indoor section of Cook's, it was quite stuffy and seemed a little shady. Compared to other local nurseries, this was definitely not decorated as nicely and did not have any modern or aesthetically pleasing pot decorations. read more

This place should change their name to "crooks" as that would be more accurate. We bought 5 trees from them at nearly $200 each. They were planted by a certified arborist. We hand watered them as specified and 4 of the 5 died. Crooks won't honor even their terrible 50% credit refund policy much less actually make it right. The manager didn't even talk with us, just sent the flunky desk help to tell us no. I will never buy anything from them again. Save your money & go to a real nursery, not these "crooks". read more

I've been a Cooks customer for quite a while. Last year I got cabbage that was labeled broccoli and this year it was some kind of sweet pepper that was supposed to be Jalapeno. The topper was when I asked an employee to show me a seedless dark grape, which turned out to have big fat seeds. I spoke with them about all of these and got no help nor refund. Terrible customer service. We have bought so many things here over the years. They always find a way to not honor their "guarantee" when a tree or shrub dies after purchase. Yesterday, staff led me to an herbicide for a problem I described. I learned it was not the best solution, so today returned the product. They charged me $20 to credit the return back to my credit card. Complete disrespect for customers. There are a lot of nurseries. We won't be going back to this one. read more

Holy crazy busy greenhouse. On a Saturday afternoon, this place was insane! It's also GIANT, though, so once you battle other cars for a parking space and make your way inside, you should be all right (though maneuvering a cart was not the easiest experience). Cooks mainly offers outdoor plants: perennials, annuals, vegetables, herbs, trees and bushes, but they have a small section of tropical indoor plants, too. I was shopping with my mom, sister, and her hubby, and we all fell in love with a glorious eight foot tall banana tree. They also carry a ton of hanging baskets, some of which were nearly as large as a person! Offerings of everything tended toward more common varieties, though I did find a few exotic vegetables and herbs. Speaking of which, an incredibly charming fellow was hanging out in that section, asking every customer in his path if he could help, and offering bits of edible plants to anyone willing to try 'em. He was a total sweetheart, and it was fun picking his brain for all the weird goodies Cooks might have. Beyond plants, they have fairy garden décor, planters, bird feeders, fertilizers, manure, and other soil amendments. Prices were reasonable to very good. I have been On. The. Hunt. for the vegetable and herb version of Myke, and though I seriously checked about 10 nurseries up in the SLC area, couldn't find it anywhere! While waiting to make my purchase here, I spotted it's familiar green packaging, and nearly yelled in delight! That made my whole visit (and weekend, if I'm honest...how lame is that?). You best believe I will return for more as soon as I run out (and never fear, they carry the tree and shrub variety, too!). Lastly, the checkout process is smooth as butter, and although only two registers were open with lengthy lines, we got out of there lickety split as one employee boxed everything up prior to our even reaching the cashier. read more

They always have what I am looking for. They had lots of coir that I needed, and mums, and a lovely crabapple tree with mini fruits (to not be messy) out front. I planted it a few years ago and it looks beautiful! They even have a large variety of tomato starts and a good variety of other veggie starts. I will always be a Cook's customer! read more

It is hard to give them a bad review as most of my experiences with Cook's have been good but today I had a really bad experience. I purchased two scoops of garden mix soil. I parked my truck in the area where the garden soil was located and went into the store to pay for it before loading. At the time I parked the truck there were no other customers waiting to be loaded. After the purchase I came out to get loaded and there were still no other customers waiting. The employee running the skid steer loader was visibly angry with me for the way I parked - even confrontational. I thought for a second he was going to get off his skid steer and be aggressive. I walked over to my truck while he was being confrontational which made him even more angry. For a minute he stared at me and refused to load. I finally called out to him..."ready?" and he finally loaded my soil. Perhaps he was having a bad day or a rough life but the experience was bad enough as to be unsettling. May shop there again, but I'll have to think about it. This was a 0 star experience if there was a 0 star option but generally I would give Cooks 3 stars for customer service and 4 or 5 stars for the quality of their plants. read more

Went in only once, but probably won't go back. The plants seem to all be neglected. A lot of them are dry and half dead. Many are missing labels and price tags, which makes finding anything difficult. I purchased a large plant of grass. It was root bound and I don't have skills to repot. I returned the plant and apparently when i bought it a sale was on, buy one get one free. I didn't know and the cashier didn't tell me. When I talked to the manager he told me about the sell. He called me a liar! that I got two and was returning one. Prices are high, but I'm ok with that when I know I'm supporting a local business. One employee named Eric was amazing and he helped me find a product that was hiding in the back. Unfortunately I cant give this business 5 stars. The guy who rang me up wasn't very pleasant and he cared more about leaving his shift than giving good customer care. All the registers were full with lines of customers, a good employee would have just stayed clocked in for another 10 minutes to help out. I had to ask for my products to be bagged, I guess he just expected me to walk out of the store with 8 different objects in my arms? He didn't remember to give me my receipt and when I asked for it he didn't make a move to hand it for me. I had to grab it from the machine myself. I wish I knew the guy's name so management could talk to him, the way he spoke to the other employees(while completely ignoring me during checkout) makes me worry that he is one of the guys in charge. I think I heard him say, "My shift is over I got to go" about 4 times in 1 minute. He was waving employees around trying to orchestrate but flailing badly, no one understood what he wanted them to do. I wonder how he got a leadership position with no management skills and such a negative attitude. If you train your employees properly they'll know what to do when the rush comes. I think this is a case of a family member or friend who was given a career position without the proper qualifications. You need to treat your customers with respect. It shouldn't matter if your shift is over and you want to get home. Do it right and bag their groceries. Say things like "Thank You!" after someone spends $100+ at your store. I'll probably be coming back sometime. However, I will make a conscious effort not to have the nepotism manager ring me up again. read more

Horrible. Plain and Simple. I purchased 7 Tomato Plants 4, Pepper Plants and 6 Strawberry plants... Turns out that not only were the Tomato plants already infected with Fusarium Wilt fungal infection but now my entire grow bed is infested with Aphids. I KNOW without a doubt that these all came from the plants I purchased from Cooks because it is an INDOOR Aquaponics Greenhouse IN MY BASEMENT with no exposure to outside elements/Pests... And all my other plants were started by me from seeds indoors. The ONLY possible way that these infestations could have happened is from the plants I bought from Cooks. What a joke, waste of my time and now pain in my ass to have to deal with trying to eradicate the pests and keep the fungus from spreading to the rest of my greenhouse. Don't go to Cooks unless you want to kill your entire garden. read more

The staff is helpful, the water lilies are just flat out awesome and they make me want to have a pound in my non existent back yard! Cook's Farm and Greenhouse is my favorite place to go for plants! It's really reasonably priced, and their selection is "YUUUGE" (Donald Trump). My wife and I try to keep plenty of plants in the house, but my green thumb sometimes seems to be a little poisonous to our plants because I often end up accidentally killing. So, this place has started to become a little bit of a go-to for me to replace my murdered plants. I don't love that sometimes you do have to do a little bit of a search for a plant that doesn't appear to be dying already. This makes me a little cautious to buy some plants for fear of them already being in the dying process. This might be because their selection is huge, so it's a little hard to take care of all the plants adequately. I don't know. In summary, great greenhouse with reasonable prices and YUGE selection. 8/10 would try again. read more

So many plants! Cook's on a Saturday in the spring is the place to be. For plants. Expect a crowd, but they're generally pretty good about moving lines along. They have a huge selection of flowers, plants, and all manner of green things. I'm not super sure what to say about them other than the fact that I've never had a problem finding what I'm looking for. Alphabetical order and well stocked plants ftw. The place has many plant selections which is great but be careful of dishonest cashiers. A couple of times when I went several weeks ago, 2 cashiers over charged me. The first one, instead of ringing just one plant he doubled it. Didn't even apologize when I came back to ask for refund. The second time, another cashier charged me with 11 plants instead of 7, go figure. Then when I returned and told him, he said "Thanks for helpling us be honest." I was like what? So be careful, it seems like some of their cashiers are intentionally robbing their customers by over charging them. read more

Cook's have an extensive variety of plants and we wanted to support a local business. We bought over 1,000.00 worth in trees and had the bigger trees delivered. When the trees arrived one was not what we had bought and after a phone call and after agreeing that someone made a mistake (either them or us) the trees was returned and their employee left. Well, when we closely inspected the other trees two of them (columnar spruces $200 each) had many broken branches leaving a big hole on the side of the trees. Anyways, I'm not happy with their service. Bottom line if you buy trees take them yourself because you won't know what you will get. Now I have to go to Lowe's and buy 2 more trees. read more

My wife went to Cook's today to deal with a return and purchase a lot of new items. It was VERY busy and she had to wait over 45 min to get help. Because the return was a bit complicated and the staff was busy they actually asked her to come back another day (after waiting 45 min) rather than help her out. The hallmark of good customer service is not how well you do when there is no one else to serve, it's how well you can do under a load. In this case - complete failure! There are too many other options nearby to have to put up with this... you just lost a long time customer. read more

Worst Customer Service! I have shopped at this nursery for 15 years, have been told multiple times when checking out about their one year guarantee & recently purchased $2000 worth of plants for my dream yard. The evening I received 3 expensive trees, I deep-soaked them for a few hours because they were a little dry. The next morning the trees were drooping significantly. Since I live over an hour from Cooks, I decided to give the trees a few days to see if they would recover. (Meanwhile none of the other plants from Cooks or the $5000 worth of plants I purchased from other nurseries are having any problems.) I watered them daily & checked to make sure they weren't over or underwatered multiple times a day. When it was obvious it wasn't anything I was doing to kill these trees, I attempted to return them. I was treated extremely rudely by 2 separate managers & told it was my fault that they had died because I wasn't watering them enough. I was told I should have been watering them everyday & I replied that I had been. I have been gardening successfully in some of the most difficult climates & soils since I could walk. To be told I was an idiot & didn't know how to water a potted tree was inappropriate. The managers did not care that the trees had begun to die almost immediately after receiving them. They didn't care that I had been shopping there & spent thousands of dollars. When I asked about their 100% year guarantee I had been told about by multiple cashiers over the years, they pulled out a tiny paper from behind the register with their actual return policy. This can be found no where else in their store or on their website. As I asked about returning the other $2000 worth of plants which were doing fantastic, they told me that I was no longer able to return any of those for any reason. It sounds like Cooks changes their return policy as they want & that they do not care about losing customers. They have definitely lost me! read more
