But if my visit is any indication at all, this is probably a family-run spot with nice folks doing their best to bring you good flowers. The world of plant stores/nurseries has taken a turn for the charming lately, with some even doubling as wedding and reception centers. Interiors are being redone with very Instaworthy layouts and all the modern trends. That's not the case here. This is where you go for your bedding plants. This is where you go for a nice tree. This is where you go to peruse the perennials to just cruise and find something you like. I'm told that earlier in the season they have a nice selection of veggies so that would for sure be worth checking out. I'm not sure if the wintertime brings more houseplants, succulents, cacti, or other on-trend plants, but for now that selection was pretty limited. It's not their specialty, and that's A-OK as long as you know. I found the help to be very friendly, and they seemed to focus a lot on making the plants as affordable as possible, which is always appreciated. They were kind enough to remark on all the recent markdowns and take the time to show a few favorites. All in all, it's a pretty straightforward spot with a lot of the likely suspects, and if you cruise around town looking at nurseries as I do, you'll probably find something interesting here, too.

They look like they are enjoying their job which is always nice to see. The unfortunate part of my visit is a lot of their plants did not look healthy. You can tell they are watering on top of the plant instead of at the roots. You can see a lot of scorch marks on the flowers and the leaves. On the bright side the trees looked very healthy. They also had the beautiful hydrangeas lime light trees/shrub that looked beyond healthy which is rare to see at a nursery. But above all I might stop by once in awhile but I probably won't buy especially because the prices of the plants are so pricey.

Some of their trees have fallen and because no one stood it up it just stayed that way once they stood it up. The plants are very tough shape inside and outside. It was sad because normally they are full of life. The employees were not helpful at all which was sad because normally they are helping people all the time. But maybe that's just because I visited in the early winter and who shops a nursery then? In any case, once we made our way inside, it became clear they're making moves to up the adorbs factor and move to be way more than just a pot-em-up nursery. The main retail area here is lovely, with gifts, books, and loads of home decor. They've put some money into this, and while it still needs to be filled out a bit more, you can spend some time cruising here and be happy. From the main area, we made our way to the houseplant section. While there are a lot of expecteds there, I was surprised to see so many of them. We only found a few harder-to-find ferns (something way down the line in the birds nest family) but plenty of those old school ficus. I suppose the ficus sell, but with so many hot new ficus right now, I just was surprised at the quantity of the old schoolers. There are succulents as well, though thankfully not a bajillion. I liked many of the containers, especially the wee ones, and prices there were reasonable. We ended up with three ferns, one of which is now struggling due to a long vacation and a lack of water (my bad) but many of the plants there in the greenhouse needed a good amount of deadheading and some of the poor monstera were flagging, and generally it seems they probably need someone dedicated and diligent in the watering and upkeep. It could stand a little freshening up. I'd like to come back in the warm months to see what kind of trouble I could get into, but I still had a nice time and the other two ferns are going strong; the third has my full faith it will bounce back.

In short, I couldn't figure out what adapters to use in the plumbing section. I was frustrated and had spent an hour with different options to reduce a line. I was ready to give up when I saw Thomas on my isle. I told him what I was trying to do. He listened patiently and asked a few questions and then suddenly had a solution to my problem as found the part I needed. I am so pleased with his professionalism. She went above & beyond to locate us a bbq that was still in the box that was up in the rafters. She helped us to take measurements of the box & went out to the car to grab measurements of the door. Additionally, just in case the box didn't fit, she set us up with will call so we could leave & come back with a bigger car. This girl was our hero this day! The box fit & we were able to have a great bbq dinner that same night. Everything is well stocked & most the staff had smiles & were polite/said hello. Only 4 stars because the young girl that helped us with will call was less than helpful. We wanted to grab a cover for the bbq and had to repeat ourselves three times before she stopped ringing us up & acknowledged us. She then didn't even bother to point us in the correct direction. This garden store is probably ranked number 2 in my list of garden nursery's that I have visited in…read morethe state of Utah. They have a big selection of all kinds of healthy trees! they have expanded and changed things up sense the last time I have visited. I was a little disappointed this time because this nursery use to be my go to store for dahlias but they have only carried the basic types of dahlias that you can find at all the other nursery's. Last summer when I went they had dahlias that I have never seen in nursery's before. the employees kept to themselves when I visited today. They aren't consistent with greeting or helping. but overall this is a place I trust when it comes to buying healthy plants from. The prices are pretty fair so I recommend checking shades nursery if you haven't already!
