The ice cream at Cook's Farm Dairy is amazing! I normally have an adverse reaction to ice cream due to lactose issues. It seems with Cook's ice cream, I really don't seem to have much of an issue. It's a good thing because I'll be stopping here frequently! The service is friendly and the ambiance of the new social facility where there's plenty of seating for small groups in their ice cream and coffee facility is quite nice. Great place for families and friends to gather and enjoy some of their best products. They've got refrigerated items as well - milk, pies, ice creams, etc., that you can also buy while you're visiting. Please check 'em out if you haven't already. One of my all time favorite places for ice cream! They recently built an entirely new building that is really spacious to allow inside seating. It's a great set-up and appears they have two serving counters to be able to accommodate a surge in crowds. Drive in availability as well. Now...the ice cream....I got the Tractor Trails and my MIL got Cow Pie. They were both outstanding as always. The venue is huge with high ceilings, a bar in the middle and the ice cream counter along one wall. There is an up stairs and a covered patio as well. Great place to sit and enjoy a couple scoops! Tonight I tried a flavor I've not seen here before, pistachio almond and my favorite, tractor tracks. Both are excellent but didn't pair well together...totally my fault! We pulled in, on a 90+ degree day, to see two lines of cars idling. There were easily a dozen or two of cars. I'm sure you can imagine the noise, fumes, and waste of fuel from this activity. There's a sign explaining that they accept people walking up as long as they are in line with the cars. The farm has a website with flavors, but not all the flavors are available at any given time. We really wanted eggnog with pumpkin crunch, but ended up with moo tracks and pumpkin crunch. The ice cream was delicious, the calfs were adorable and fun to feed, and service was top notch. There was even a choice of meat and dairy groceries that could be ordered at the same time as the ice cream. What a treat this place is! We came while visiting from out of state, and the whole family can't stop talking about this wonderful dairy. We had the good fortune of being able to join a tour of the dairy so that we could see the milking machine in action (and try some delicious chocolate milk)! The farmer was knowledgable, patient, and engaging with the whole group. He told us about milking, keeping cows, the ages of each group of cows, etc. The highlight of our visit was being able to purchase handfuls of corn kernels to feed to the calves. One calf was born a day before we arrived, and was as cute as can be! Petting the older cows was an exciting experience as well. And finally, the ice-cream was amazing! Yum! Oh! And an added bonus is that the bathrooms were very clean, considering they are on a farm. *Even without the tour, guests are able to walk around to look at the cows and pigs. Tasty treats can be ordered at the front window (cheese, ice cream, meat-sticks, etc.). A note to city folk- wear shoes and clothes that you don't mind getting dirty! Plan to get stinky. While viewing the adorable piglets, one jumped in its trough, covering us in slop and mud. Haha! read more

I was a bit surprised on Saturday morning when I discovered this place that it was a drive-up window only. There was little signage about options and prices, but there is a menu you can ask for when you get to the window. My sundae was a generous size with lots and lots of nuts and amazing homemade and fresh whipped cream. I got half gallons of ice cream to go. Unfortunately these were not cooled down to lower temperatures (a practice that other small creameries I have visited use so that you can travel a hour or so without have too much melt). The place has a special flavor changed every once in a while. There were the classic flavors and a few fancied up varieties with special names, but I had to ask to figure out what some of these were, and these were not strikingly different. Some families came with smaller children who walked around to go look at the cows, crammed in a barn close by. During the pandemic it's drive-thru only for delicious good including milk, beef, and ice cream! They have a nice selection of ice cream flavors and appropriate portion sizes! We parked our car, ate our treats, and walked around to visit the cows and pigs. They do have a one-stalk bathroom available. There are hand sanitizer stations under the pavilion near the garbage cans. This is an exceptional experience for the whole family. They have baby cow and baby cow igloos. OMG, so cute. You can feed the baby cows milk bottles!! They have pigs too. The farm hand helped my daughter feed the baby cows. She was in heaven. She enjoyed it more than my grandson . I highly recommend this farm. Everyone was so lovely and helpful! Beautiful MICHIGAN country at it's best, farm fresh air, sun on your cheeks, wind in your hair & a smile on your face. I've lived it this area most of my life, I don't know the owners personally but, over the last 30 plus years I have visited with a classroom of elementary students & family & friends. They have always ran a clean, educational, professional honest down to earth business. They serve the most generous portions of Ice-cream money can buy, from the cow to the shelf. Sure it smells like a farm, it's really a state of the art animal hotel. Guest can pet a day old calf that will lick your face & suck on your finger tips! You can also visit the slightly older calves and fully grown milking cows. They always have baby pigs sloping in the mud happy to see you. Wild kittens are stalking mice, Pigeons & Barn swallows hovering above while a blue bird roosts on a fence post & deer grazing in the fields. There's drive thru, covered picnic area to eat your Ice-cream & take it all in. They provide a Porta potty for customers use & you can purchase corn to feed the animals for a quarter! I save the best for last, this year they have a self served milking room! You go in the room and there is a wall of clear plexiglass. The gate opens a cow walks in stands in position, the machine turns on washes one utter then the three others & rinses them off too. Then the milkers use a laser to line each teet & begin milking. You can see how much milk they get from one cow. I know my milk is fresh & coming from a clean environment. This place is what living is all about. It is an awesome adventure for the whole family. They have decent restrooms , just beyond where you feed the cows. The ice cream is good and serving are generous. We recommend the single size Blue Moo in a sugar cone, with extra napkins. We also picked up a bottle of their "Legendary Cook's Family Recipe Ranch" dressing for $7. It's quite good. Heavy on the dill. Not too thick. And it doesn't taste like chemicals the way some store bought brands do. We loved it with fresh cooked cucumbers and carrots from our garden. We will be back! Cook's is a local tradition.
