I prefer the chili dog, and the fries are on point. Service is fast and friendly, even during the busy lunch rush. I'm giving two stars because the customer service was on point and I felt for the workers. The customer in front of us was not too happy during our visit and I did feel for the workers as to how she acted. Now onto the food. My kiddos have asked to try this place for months. We finally did and it's a no. The hotdogs are just a boiled and flavorless dogs. The buns are so thin and with the hotdog hot they just fall through the bottom. At first sight they look delicious, but we were all left less than impressed. My kids didn't even finish their hotdogs. The location is so convenient, but the food is less than stellar. Omg no no no this place is a joke. Please do not even believe these comments. Let me tell you how they prepare a cheeseburger. First of all they take cold bun out of the bag. I ordered a #2 2 chili dogs with fries and drink. Overall it was a good experience. Fries cooked to order so they are hot and crunchy well seasoned. The two chili dogs had a good flavor although they could have been a little warmer. The chili just just the right amount to complement the hotdogs without being overpowering. Any place that has a scrambled dog has got my vote. These friendly folks have got one every bit as good as the sarges. Pedestrian weenie on a fresh deep pocketed bun allows the chili to get all up in the thang. Onions ride well along with cold hamburger dill pickles. You don't eat this chili dog in 4 bites out of one hand while riding a bicycle that's for sure. It's best eaten with a knife and fork or a spoon. Soon as I finished I mine I wanted a second one. I'm glad I thought better of it as one was just right. Everybody is happy in here and with good reason. The chili is thick meaty and doesn't have any beans. Nothing special about the bun or the weenie. Both came straight off the shelf from the grocery. It was a good one though. Columbus is a great chili dog town! read more

If I had to sum up the food of Columus it would be: Barbecue Catfish Wings Scrambled Dogs The last item is pervasive, with more places offering their take on it than you would expect. And while Cook's isn't as well-known as Dinglewood Pharmacy, their dogs shouldn't be discounted. I would say that I overall enjoyed Dinglewood's dogs a bit more, from using the red hots to the consistency of the chili to the bun (somehow) not getting as soggy when it was drenched in said chili, but the differences are minor, and unlike many of these other places, Cook's has a bit more of an enterprising spirit, underscored by their embracing of the 21st century (i.e., website), and a second location (though it's so close to the first, I'm not sure why they bother keeping both open). Sure, you could argue that the difference between a scramble dog and a regular chili dog is tenuous, and you could quibble about the minute differences between one place and the next, but as you're plowing your way through one, it doesn't seem to matter as much. read more

Alright. Before you read this review, I want to mention right up front that this is a review for a hot dog stand. It is excellent at the few things I expect a hot dog stand to be good at. 1. Good dogs with some good options. Slaw, kraut, chili, onions, etc. 2. Price. They are reasonably priced! Great hot dogs at a reasonable price! 3. Customer service. The people here are very, very friendly. While I was there, I watched them give free drinks to a group of Soldiers in uniform. It was awesome. Also, they have a drive through. I wouldn't say that you should go out of your way to eat here, but if you're in the area and are looking for a place to grab a quick bite, it's a nice place to eat. read more

My husband and I just ordered the hot dog with sauerkraut. The hotdog was the worst we've ever eaten. The sauerkraut was ice cold although the dogs themselves were hot, The sauerkraut felt like it just came out of the refrigerator. This is the second time we've gone to this restaurant. I like to eat here but Carla is RUDE and not helpful. She is demeaning to the customers and is very short when asked questions. She insults customers saying we don't know how to read when asking her questions about the menu. Quite frankly, the last 2 times I drive off. Place is legit. My wife and I ate here many times when living in Columbus (one of the few downsides to moving away from the area). Moved to the DC area where folks have no idea what a scrabbled dawg is. I always hit this spot (along with Krystal....again, DC snobbery doesn't allow for these types of establishments) up when I come to town for business. It edges out the Digglewood dawg and the Hidden Grill in Phenix City. read more
