We went in on Saturday looking for some beans for our new coffee maker. We were hoping to purchase and try a couple of different kinds of brews before we committed to a bag. The gentleman at the counter said this was not possible, they they only had one type of bean brewing per day. He also explained that the brew they were selling that day was from the most expensive beans they had on offer. I ordered an iced coffee, and asked would this be from those beans, then? Nope, he answered; the iced coffee is a special, different roast. I have to say that it was delicious. We chose two half-pound bags, blindly, based on the barista's recommendation, but it really was not what we were hoping to achieve. With a whole wall of fresh beans on offer, I'd think there should be some way to try them. We will probably be back, the coffee is good, but perhaps consider what customers might be interested in. read more

Went on a very busy Black Friday afternoon and was so impressed with the two baristas! The line was out the door and they were amazingly efficient, kind, and easy going. All the other coffee shops seemingly closed early. I ordered 2 oat milk lattes (extra credit for having 3 non-dairy options: oat, almond & soy). One with vanilla and one with toffee crunch. They had a TON of flavor options! There were so many I wanted to try (pistachio, peppermint, elderflower, salted caramel, the list goes on). The barista who took my order also took the time out to compliment my nails Ambiance was cool. Many people studying or on little chats with peers. Lots of local art hanging on the walls to purchase. CB is easy to miss...located on Mill St., where the weekend FM is held, next to an ice cone shop! ++ Ambiance is small unpretentious funky cool vibe. Both sides of entrance sitting cubbyholes have fun painted murals. Inside is an open rustic space... several large tables for working and socializing on the right and the ordering station to the left. Opposite the Mill St. entrance, their rear door opens to a chill court yard with several self-service café tables. ++ Coffee, teas, pastries and beans are to be found here. I've had drip and macchiato and they were verrRy drinKable! Unfortunately, they don't have MY nitro that I'm hunting for in A-town. (They do have nitro). If you prefer frou frou kinds, they have those as well. Also, CB is a ROASTER and their beans are in dispensers to the right of the counter. They have a decent selection, I think at least 20 and each bin is labeled including the date of roasting! My friend got some fresh roasted Guatemalan that they ground up for her liking. Food-wise, they serve croissants, macrons, protein bars that are sold by Pete at local FMs. They also sell limited coffee gadgets. It's a good place to get a pick me up when I visit the weekend FM and the Marietta Square. ++ Price is average for the area. ++ Service is prompt, friendly and knowledgeable. + Parking is street and lots. If I could leave negative stars I would...I coincidentally came into this coffee shop for the first time being a Marietta local on a particular day at a specific time a public figure just so happened to have been murdered and it was just breaking on all the news headlines as I had just ordered my coffee and the staff behind the counter started cheering and celebrating the murder of another human being loudly so everyone in the shop could hear. I was so shocked trying to process what I was hearing and became so disgusted I just walked out without my coffee. I've never been in the food/restaurant space where employees acted so heinously and I honestly felt very uncomfortable and scared the way they were talking and celebrating someone committing a crime. I'm so disgusted that the employees here even felt like they could talk and celebrate the murder of someone in general, let alone in their place of work, making sure all the customers heard, almost in a threatening tone. Needless to say, it wasn't just me who walked out after that so I'm sure this will have a huge impact. I will NEVER come here again if it wasn't obvious. I'm embarrassed for this place and that they have hired such horrible and SCARY acting employees. read more

I'm working my way through a Mental Floss list of best coffee roasters in each state. When a trip to Atlanta came up, I immediately checked to see how far away Cool Beans Coffee Roasters in Marietta was. I was ecstatic to find out it wasn't very far. Cool Beans is located in Marietta Square, a cute collection of local stores, restaurants and entertainment venues surrounding a park. The first thing I noticed when entering the shop was their huge red coffee roaster which they've named Big Red. It was just hanging out in the middle of the shop for everyone to see. This is not normal, most places keep their roaster tucked away in some back room, not right in the middle of the shop. The coffee geek in me immediately headed over to check Big Red out. After my roaster exploration, I got down to the business at hand. What should I order? I started with my go to, a latte with nut milk, and my wife's, a mocha. I added on a chocolate muffin for my daughter. I wanted to take home some beans for my aunt and myself. Unlike other coffee shops that have beans prebagged and sitting on a shelf, Cool Beans has over a dozen plastic bins of different roasts tucked to the right of their bar. They don't measure out and bag a pound of beans until after you order it. I found this approach a bit overwhelming, so much to consider, but the barista took the taste profile I described for both me and my aunt and offered up some recommendations. After everything was paid, I went to find my family. They were seated in a little "private" room to the left of the entrance. It had a small counter (the perfect size for my kids) and was painted like the famous Starry Night painting. My kids loved sitting in their own private space. There was another "private" room on the other side of the business entrance. The rest of Cool Beans is filled with your typical cafe style seating: bar spots, window seats, two and four seated tables. About that coffee. Loved the latte, one of my favorites. It had the perfect balance of nut milk and espresso. Not too sweet, not too milky. My wife found her mocha to be just "ok". The real win of our visit was the beans I took home. Outside of a roast I got from New York, these have been my favorite beans. They are very flavorful and help me make a mean (and sophisticated) cup of coffee. If you love coffee and find yourself in Atlanta (or Marietta) do yourself a favor and give Cool Beans a visit. read more

This is a cute coffee shop in Marietta Square that has plenty of southern charm. I gave it 5 stars due to the following: 1. Location: great location for the area. 2. Parking: plenty of spaces in front of the shop and surrounding the area. 3. Price: the coffees were fairly reasonable for the area. Refills are $1.18. 4. Service: the guy behind the counter was very friendly and took out the time to explain to me the menu. 5. Setting: good amount of seating and also spaced out well. I love the different pieces of artwork on the wall from local artists that were available for purchase. Overall, I met with some colleagues for a quick, casual meeting and it was such a great place to do so. Coffee was yummy and the environment was friendly. I would recommend. read more

We love going to Cool Beans in the mornings for a coffee. We typically go once a week for a treat. I appreciate that they have a loyalty punch card, and they offer a discount if you pay with cash. I love their outdoor seating area - it's really spaced out and such a lovely spot. They also have a wide variety of coffees, flavors, whole beans, etc! Just expect a long wait on a Saturday morning because everyone comes over from the farmers market! read more

I popped in here to grab a drink in between church services that I was playing fiddle for on a Sunday morning. They get points for being one of the only coffee shops open on a Sunday morning in Marietta besides Starbucks haha. Social distancing guidelines were also well laid out. There is a beautiful porch area just outside the shop where you can sit and have your coffee. I had the chai-latte which was a little sweeter than I expected, but then again, that is a sweet drink in general. You can get a bit of a discount if you pay in cash and they also have a loyalty card for returning customers to get free drinks. I would definitely recommend this spot for a Sunday morning brew if you've got some time to kill or just want a chill place to sit and read a good book. I hope to come back sometime soon! read more

Cute spot to the side of Marietta Square. I got a nitro brew and my partner got the eight ball espresso with butterscotch. The espresso was tasty! I'm not much of coffee person so it's on me for not knowing how strong a nitro brew would be (especially without cream) so my initial taste was not the most pleasant, but after a little cream, it was ok. Like I said, I'm not a coffee person so I'll just opt for the sweet coffee next time. I happened to snag the last ham and cheese croissant and it was delicious!! Definitely coming back for it again!! It's a nice coffee shop vibe with tables to work and catch up... not very big so I don't know how it would work to socially distance during peak times, but there is also an outside space, so come when you can! I have been coming to this coffee shop since I lived in the area (6 years ago) and it is still my go to place every time I'm in town. It is not your generic "Starbucks"...NO! This is a true coffee place for coffee lovers and coffee aficionados alike. I'm super picky about coffee, so much that I have an espresso machine at home because the coffee shop in my area does not know what good coffee is.... However, the people at cool beans know how to prepare a good cup of Joe. They roast their own beans and have quite a selection. To be honest this place is the only place I like to get coffee at in Atlanta ...I have tried several other places......they do not come close to this place. So, don't think about it and go visit the nice people at CoolBeans....life is too short to drink bad coffee! read more

I love this place not just for their excellent coffee, but also for their friendly and knowledgeable baristas. You don't usually have baristas making recommendations or discussing foaming/milk types with you, but these people knew their stuff and I truly appreciate them. The coffee was also excellent (Spanish coffee is the best Mexican mocha latte I've ever had!) and their cappuccino is smooth and on point. I've been coming here for years because the location is nestled in the Square which has a ton of character and uniqueness. The coffee is decent, well good enough for me to come back. What has been the achilles heel is the lack of cleanliness and flying insects. It's hard to enjoy your coffee or get work done while swatting gnats and flies away from your face. It's especially bad near the window seating area. Overall, I've not had a bad service experience as the staff are friendly. The location, fair coffee, and good service is probably why I still come. If they address the bug issue they'd be the go-to coffeehouse. read more

The place to be for coffee lovers. I'm not a huge caffeine drinker. One of the perks of working remote is if I ever feel tired I can take a nap, no need to falsely stimulate being awake for me. On the flipside, this means I can never truly review a coffee establishment. It's like a vegan reviewing a steakhouse, I can try to give my opinion, but it will vary vastly from the majority of people frequenting this place. Still, since there are still some people who are like me and don't drink coffee, I will write this review and you can take it for what it's worth. On a Tuesday morning at about 10 a.m. this place was busy! We had to sit at the bar because there were no tables empty. It was still pretty quick to get our drinks though, so most of the patrons there were like us, choosing to stay and work instead of getting drinks to go. I got a mint green tea and a croissant. I wasn't expecting anything special with the croissant I just wanted something to eat and most of my choices were sweet. It was actually pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to get the croissant but I also didn't think man I could have gotten the same quality from a grocery store. The mint green tea is made from a tea bag so that I could have definitely gotten from the grocery store. It was still fine and I really just got it so I could have an excuse to work in that space. This place is worth five stars for the atmosphere. If I need a place to work I would gladly buy a tea just so I can camp out here. They have bins of coffee beans so it looks like they take their coffee seriously. If I ever start appreciating the bean, this will be one of the first places I will come back to visit. read more

This is a Marietta Square staple and, if you can avoid going at peak times, a great place to snag coffee. Sometimes though the line can wrap out the door and around the corner, but they're typically pretty good at managing the flow and getting people through. Depending on the time of day, it's either a great place to work or the worst just due to the amount of traffic that goes through there. It can get pretty loud during peak hours, but that's no fault of their own. But it is always an excellent place to meet with friends to catch up, either outside or in. read more

Why 5 stars? Because it has something for all lovers of caffeine. --- --- --- I like places like this because my wife and I are on the polar opposite end of the coffee-drinking spectrum. I drink espresso shots black, and she likes a bunch of sugary shots, mixed in with a few drops of coffee. So when I see a very vast menu like this, I know that other people in my situation can come here and find something for all to enjoy. In this case, I was not here with my wife, I was with a colleague. She is not a coffee drinker at all, so Cool Beans was able to flex its variety muscles even more! She ordered a green tea and thought it was solid, while I went with an espresso macchiato. Mine was great and the baristas could not have been friendlier in the process. They hooked us up with the WiFi and even gave us some tips on where to park in the square, because we planned on being there all day. We then were able to find a comfortable corner and knock out some work, with some pretty solid WiFi, despite tons of people being in here and using it at the same time. I came back again later in the day and grabbed a Ponch Via. It was tasty and packed a mean punch, but was a bit heavy to drink, so I'd probably opt for another macchiato or just a couple of shots of espresso next time. Very nice place. Came on a rainy day before a reservation for a restaurant nearby. Employees were nice and my latte was smooth and balanced. There was plenty of seating in here but most of it was taken so that was the only downside. Very cute though. And my favorite part-the prices! While other coffee shops usually charge $1-2 for milk alternatives, flavors, and additional espresso shots, here they are only 47 cents each, at least for now. The total was around $9 for an almond milk latte and a cappuccino (both 20 oz). It's hard to find prices like this anywhere else during a time like this. And my latte wasn't all ice like some places tend to give. It was a reasonable amount of ice and I could sip on it for a while. I didn't want to spoil my appetite but the baked goods were definitely tempting, as well as almost-unbelievably well priced. The best cup of coffee I've had in Atlanta in a long time. I'm a picky eater and a picky coffee drinker. Some people call it a diva complex but I think its more about simplicity. I like what I like....so when I saw this place on Yelp while I was at Harry's I thought let me check it out. I will admit I didn't have high hopes for the place. From the outside it doesn't look like much. Its located in the historic part of Marietta square and the shop has a cool funk hip vibe to it. I got a cup of their coffee of the day which was an Indonesia variety for $1.65. I can't believe they charge gas station prices for premium coffee... The coffee was bold, musky and filled with small burst of fruity notes. Absolutely scrumptious. You can bet I will be back again and you definitely should check them out.... read more

There was snow on the ground, ice on the sidewalks, lots of ice and the smell of wonderful nutty coffee filled the night air. I had to stop in. The staff was so nice and I loved the wall of handmade mugs and jewelry. My husband chose a special 8 ball coffee and since it was late at night I went with the Mexican hot chocolate. He loved his coffee and had added a pump of hazelnut to it as well. My hot chocolate was not overwhelming or too sweet. I loved seeing all walks of life seated at the variety of tables braving the cold to enjoy this quaint coffee shop.
