    Smoked Salmon Tartine
    Aly W.

What an amazing stop in Marietta! You can dine inside or outside. They have ample parking in the lot. I love that they have a full menu as well as a bakery. I loved my smoked salmon tartine. It was exceptional! My husband also loved his savory crêpe. We ordered two full-size bakery items and two small size ones. We opted to dine outside and although it had been a rainy day, it was covered, and it was a great experience. The service was wonderful.

I drive past Douceur de France multiple times a week - a GEM hidden in plain site. Today I stopped, Ariel & Maya were patient while I was so indecisive! They offered recommendations and were sincerely cheerful. I cannot wait to indulge in my almond croissant. I purchased a sour cream pound cake for my daughters and a gorgeous chocolate ganache tarte for a friend.

Great find! I stopped in while traveling for work. I got a hot mocha and a raspberry cream cheese danish. All the pastries looked phenomenal! It was buttery, flaky, not too sweet - just perfect! The decor gives an authentic nod to France without being cheesy. I definitely recommend trying it out!

We've been to this French bakery several times because it's definitely legit and delicious, but never stopped for lunch. We had tickets to the 3:00 show at The Strand to see Footloose (which was really good!) and decided to check out the menu. I ordered the Tourte Au Poulet, which is a marinated chicken with Swiss cheese, onions, mushrooms and bechemel with a mushroom sauce in a flaky pasty and it was awesome! The service was friendly and quick and would have ordered a desert since they all looked delicious, but had no room! You have to check this place out! You'll be back - I promise!

Slow service. Sat 10 minutes before offered water. Server was as sweet as could be, but had too many tables and couldn't keep up. Not her fault but nonetheless it was not ideal. Seems like they have added more tables. We were very close to our neighbors but interior is still cute and decorated for Valentine's Day. Food....just not the same. Quiche crust is not the buttery delicious crust it used to be and no salad with the quiche. I was disappointed! Soup of the day was White Bean with Rosemary. VERy GOOD! Napoleon latte was a little lackluster- needed more distinct flavors. All in all a disappointing visit to Douceur.

Creme Brulee and Individual Lemon Meringue Tart

This review is solely for their bakery options, which are all fantastic!! We ordered a Black Forest Yule log cake for Christmas, which had a light, airy, and not too sweet vanilla cream on top with brandy cherries in a moist chocolate cake inside. Very good and a great option if you want a less chocolate heavy cake. We were so impressed with this cake and decided to get crème brûlée, macarons, lemon meringue tart, and a pear almond tart slice for New Years. Let me tell you that this is where we were blown away. The pear almond slice was PHENOMENAL. Most pear tarts lack the pear flavor or it gets covered up by other flavors, but here the delicate pear flavor remained the star of the tart. There were a lot of thin pear slices on top delicately sugared, and the almond flavor on the tart itself remained prevalent but did not overpower the pear. The dough on the tart remained moist with a flaky crust. Super delicious and addicting. The same can be said about the crème brûlée, it had a very strong, authentic vanilla flavor and an egginess to really give it body. The black specks seen from using true vanilla beans were seen inside the dessert which really shows their ingredient quality. Probably the best crème brûlée I have had that was bought! The lemon meringue tart was also delicious, the meringue on top was super light and airy like a cloud, while they were able to balance the lemon flavor perfectly so that it danced between sweet and sour. Most other places have the lemon be too sweet OR too sour, but they nailed the sugar level on this one! The tart crust itself was also SUPER soft, most places have a very hard tart crust but this one was so soft we cut through it with a butter knife. Macarons are also super soft with delicious cream and fragrant flavors inside that build as you eat them. We liked the coffee flavor that was really delicious, and have yet to try the raspberry and lavender macarons, but the pistachio one had a very light pistachio flavor that could have been stronger. Overall a really great bakery in the area was superb quality for reasonable prices. Definitely our go to bakery!!!

We enjoyed a nice Sunday brunch here! You can order pastries and coffee at the counter while you wait for a table. We did have to wait a while since it was Sunday afternoon. Our server was super sweet. A little scattered since it was super busy but very nice and got all of our meals out quickly and correctly. Their tomato soup is wonderful! I considered getting some to go for lunch the next days. The quiche was wonderful and a large portion. Everyone in our group was pleased with our meals! Very nice for breakfast/lunch food! We'll come back (but maybe on a less busy day)

I grew up in Marietta and have watched Douceur de France for years -- I can't believe it took me this long to finally stop by! I went for brunch on a Sunday, and while it was busy, we were seated within about 15-20 minutes. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable, which helped us navigate the menu. I ordered the Parmesan Polenta Bowl (with egg whites) and a chai latte. The bowl was hearty and filling -- the chicken sausage, spinach, shallots, and roasted red peppers all worked nicely together, though it could've used just a bit more seasoning. The croissant I added on the side was the star -- flaky, buttery, and served with butter and a lovely strawberry-like purée. We also stopped by the bakery after our meal and grabbed a few treats. My pear almond Bordeleau was absolutely delicious, and we also tried a macaron, almond croissant, mango paradise, and some other treats which were all fresh and beautifully made. Prices are reasonable (my total was under $30 with tip not including pastries), and the overall vibe is cozy and authentic. If you love French cafés, Douceur de France is definitely worth a visit -- I'll be back for more pastries soon!

I've driven past Douceur de France, a French café & bakery just outside Marietta Square, for years--like, nearly 20--and finally stopped in. It was busy with brunch crowds, but we were seated within about 15 minutes for two people. While waiting, we browsed their pastry cases filled with tarts, cakes, and sweets (and of course grabbed a few to go after eating). Upon being seated, our waitress, Jo, was warm, attentive, and full of great recs for both food and drinks. I went with the fried egg BLT (swapped for egg whites) on a buttery croissant. Simple, but the edition of the croissant said otherwise! It was a little on the fresh side flavor-wise, but nothing a sprinkle of salt couldn't fix. My sister ordered the parmesan polenta with sautéed peppers, spinach, shallots, chicken sausage, and egg whites--she enjoyed it too, just wanted a touch more seasoning. Prices were reasonable, around $25-$30 per person including tip--for an entree, side, and drink. Overall, cozy vibes, great service, tasty food, and those pastries? Chef's kiss. We'll definitely be back to try more!

Douceur de France is a charming French cafe in Marietta, GA. It offers a delightful brunch experience and endless coffee options. The menu features a range of classic brunch items and your go to needs to be the Tourte Au Poulet which is a buttery croissant chicken pot pie. The spot to sit is outside and the wait staff is on top of everything.

First and foremost, shout out to our server Taylor! I've said it before, the food brings me in....the people keep me coming back! Service was EXCELLENT! LOVED HER! Truly warm and welcoming and we will seek her out every time. In fact, everyone we came in contact with were next level. We were first timers and it meant a lot! Now to the food! When we go to French bakeries, we always try something on a baguette and something with a croissant. These are classic offerings, and these were LEGIT! For the baguette, I had a classic ham and Swiss with butter. I got a side of raspberry jam that made it incredible! The bread was fresh and crusty. Perfect and classicly French! My wife had a croissant with her breakfast of perfectly cooked eggs, and chicken sausage with a fantastic side of rosemary potatoes. There was also a side of strawberry puree. Just dip everything in that if you get it. No jelly needed! THEN we needed something SWEET so naturally we got a Nutella crepe with strawberries and bananas. It was delicious! This place does what bread and pastries are known for in France and they do it incredibly well! We will add this to our regular weekend brunch routine. Be prepared for lines on the weekend! We found getting there on a Saturday before 10am was about right to be sat quickly. Lots to look at as far as pastry offerings are concerned right when you walk in! We grabbed some on the way out. The place is super clean (including the bathrooms) and it feels European and there is a great patio for outdoor seating. Can't go wrong with Douceur de France!

They get their ingredients imported from France except for fresh product. They make just about everything in house. A must try when you're in the area. They sell out their beignets very quickly so you better go early for that. Get their creme brulee French toast before the kitchen closes at 3 pm. Customer service is really on point too!

Lychee Rose Entremet and Vanilla Paris Brest
    Nicolina L.

Everything tasted incredibly fresh, perfectly baked, and absolutely delicious. My favorites are the Lychee Rose Entremet, Almond Croissant, Vanilla Paris Brest, Coconut Macaroons (not pictured) I ordered the chicken sausage egg croissant and dined inside the café. While the croissant itself was beautifully flaky and buttery (seriously, perfection), I'd probably skip the sit-down breakfast next time and stick to loading up on pastries from the bakery counter instead. I love love love the bakery!! Nothing was too sweet. PSA: It gets super busy, but trust me - it's worth the wait.

As you walk in, there's a case of bakery-type items along the wall and butter-creme frosted cakes displayed under the order counter. I asked the man behind the counter if they have cooked food. They don't, but he offered me the alternative to what I had described, a torta. If you're as "American apple pie" as I am, looking around the shop, its easy to confuse a "torta" with a "tarte" or pastry. The "torta" here is a pressed sandwich, filled with meat that he called 'turkey ham' (he assured me that it was not pork), onions, tomato, cheese, avocado and jalapeños if you can handle 'em. While I waited for the young lady to make my torta, the gentleman offered me a choice of complimentary baked treat to try. Who here doesn't love a free sample!? Ok! He rattled off some of the names, but had me at cheesecake! I took them both to-go, mainly because, although there was a cooler full of cold drinks and soda, I couldn't find a hint/whiff of coffee in the place. I would've asked but I'd reach my personal 'question quota' with the sandwich. DELICIOUS, by the way! I like that the press left the bread crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and all the sandwich fixins were still crispy & cool-not soggy or melty. The cheesecake looks kinda like a lemon square, has a cookie-cake texture bottom crust and a 'cheese danish' type filling that's nicely browned on the top. The serving is big enough to split for now & later-which I had every intention of doing. But, I mean, who was I kidding?! It was YUMMY. This place is fairly new, so I hope it'll add hot drinks (if it doesn't already have them...) and a to-go menu with descriptions, so I can decide what I want to try, ahead of my next visit.

Jordan recommended Lush Cakery to my fiancee and me (our planner does not accept kickbacks, but instead passes on any discounts she may get on to us) and that is enough praise for me. My fiancee, through her own research, noticed that Lush Cakery has had a hand in a lot of nice weddings in Atlanta. She absolutely loves the look of Lush's cakes (she describes them as beautiful, fun, and creative). I asked Kat how many weddings she did last year and she told me, if I recall correctly, 185 (all by herself!). She doesn't plan on doing that many per year going forward, but she definitely has the experience and is well known in the Atlanta wedding community. Kat moved into a cute space just off Marietta Square a couple years ago. There's a retail space, open four days a week, and a tasting room, available by appointment only. The shop can also be booked for small events like bridal and baby showers. Kat was waiting for us promptly at our appointment time. My fiancee and I were accompanied by our planner for the tasting. The tasting room was quaint and charming. It reminded my fiancee of an attractive sitting room, like something you would see on HGTV. We got to know Kat and she got to know us. She let us swipe through cake designs on her iPad while talking to us about our wedding, our tastes/visions for our cake, and how our cake would align with our wedding overall. For example, we talked about the season of our wedding, whether it's going to be indoor or outdoor, etc. These kinds of things can affect the ingredients and flavors of our wedding cake. There was a menu at the table with Lush's most popular wedding cake flavors. We tasted the following six flavors: * Salted caramel * Amaretto white chocolate red raspberry * Triple chocolate hazelnut * Grand Marnier strawberries and cream * Cinnamon * Cream cheese pound with lemon curd Kat had the first five flavors in the list above ready to go on a plate for each of us. The last one was requested by my fiancee who was interested in trying the lemon curd after seeing it on the menu. My eyes lit up as I bit into these cakes. What impressed me most about them was actually not their flavor, but their consistency. Every single slice was perfectly fluffy and moist. They were tender and delicate with good crumb. Flavor-wise, they were sweet, but not too sweet. My favorite flavors were the salted caramel and the strawberries and cream. My fiancee's favorite flavors were the amaretto white chocolate red raspberry and the triple chocolate hazelnut. My fiancee thought both the strawberry and cinnamon tasted delicious, but were a little too simple for her tastes. The cream cheese pound cake with lemon curd was outstanding, but we agreed that we liked the lighter, less dense textures of the other cakes for our wedding cake. Everything we tried tasted great, so what it really came down to here was personal preference. We want a classic, elegant looking cake so Kat suggested a traditional three-tier round cake. We'll have it decorated with flowers from our florist, Julie Coffin of Unique Floral Expressions, who is one of the rock stars of the Atlanta wedding industry and whom Kat has worked many weddings with. We chose our cake and icing flavors, along with a fun design extra, and were quoted under $700 for our cake (tax and delivery included). The cake will serve 100. We'll have more than 100 guests, but there will be other dessert options too. Kat's quote is about $200 higher than another quote we recently received, so Lush is on the higher side. However, the other quote did not include an extra design element and the Lush quote also includes a "complimentary" anniversary tier a year after our wedding. A $150 non-refundable deposit is required to secure a date. We received Kat's proposal via email quickly after our meeting. My fiancee had a question and it didn't take long for Kat to respond. All in all, this was a wonderful experience. Now we just have to make a decision! Throughout our wedding planning process so far, this has turned out to be the most difficult decision yet.
