Halo was able to come out within a couple days of contacting them and the diagnostic fee was $89, which was to be applied to any work performed if needed. it turned out it was a tripped breaker they were able to reset and my system is cooling perfectly again... for $89!! The most notable and appreciated factor for me is they didn't come in trying to sell me service plans, upgrades to my system or accessories, or otherwise upsell me on a well maintained and well functioning older HVAC system. Even when I asked for a quote on a heat pump to take advantage of the rebates while they last, Halo didn't push me to pick the most expensive option or upsell me on a pricier type of system. And icing on the cake - despite a lot of in and out while working on figuring things out, my technician was constantly putting on and taking off booties to keep my house clean. I asked him to come over and inspect my furnace at the end of winter and he told me that my carbon monoxide levels were dangerously high because my furnace was clogged! so he yanked out my furnace (without permission) and told me I needed to replace my furnace asap. I learned late that the carbon monoxide testing was taken in the wrong place, the flue. Not knowing that he personally cleaned my air ducts he explained that my furnace wouldn't have been clogged if someone would have cleaned my air ducts properly. Cost: I got 6 estimates for this project and theirs was the best price and the best plan. Cleanliness: The workers were careful and mostly cleaned up after themselves well (although I did find a handful of sheet metal screws on the driveway afterward). Promptness: They showed up when they said they would and worked quickly. Communication: On site, they did a great job of communicating. But contacting them with a question can require patience. I've waited 2 weeks for an e-mail response to a question before with them. I understand that companies get busy, but you have to respond even if it's to say "I don't have time to address this right now but you'll hear from me in a week." It's the only reason for 4 stars.
