They offer basic cuts and upgrades for other things if you wish. Membership deals are fair and reasonable for the discounts. They also have on sports and tv while you wait. Well, I've been back several times now and unfortunately the haircuts and service that I have received on each subsequent visit has diminished. On my first visit, Kate was phenomenal, but I haven't seen her working there since then. Since then, I've bounced around to several barbers at Cool Heads. They've all been... okay. The haircuts I've been getting are no better than Sports Clips, Floyd's 99, Diesel, etc. Notably, the service has gone down for a few reasons, the most important being that Cool Heads does not employ a host or have a manager on site at all, meaning that several times during your haircut, your barber will leave you for several minutes to answer the phone, help guests at the desk, and take care of nominal tasks instead of cutting your hair. Also, the inconsistencies between the various barbers in regard to the services being provided is disappointing. It feels like there is a lack of training and clear direction for employees. They're still demanding an automatic tip (that is not a tip, but a service fee), which is just unprofessional and should be embarrassing to the owner. As I stated in my last review, I typically tip more than the demanded amount, and the overall goal of this demand from ownership is to guarantee better employee wages. I should have taken a picture. But there's a sign on their counter stating that 20% minimum "gratuity" is manatory. Then it goes into a full page detail as to why this minimum tip is expected. Let's just start here, Merriam- Webster defines gratuity as "something given VOLUNARILY or beyond obligation usually for some service". If the hairdressers in this establishment are relying on their tips to survive, then maybe it's time to find a different place of employment or even a different profession. In addition to my "expected gratuity frustration" my son told me he showed the lady a picture of what he was going for and was so frustrated with his cut that by the time he reached the car, he couldn't even express himself in words. But don't worry, she got her minimum required 20% "gratuity" for making my son almost cry in frustration. The sign does say that customers have 3 days to come back for a fix if they are not satisfied. Well, how do you put hair back? Also, when someone has already lost confidence in the person cutting their hair, how are they supposed to go back and let them continue to botch it up further? None of this makes sense to me. I really wanted to like this place because of the proximity to my home. Unfortunately, we are now on the hunt for somewhere else that will hopefully respect clients enough to understand that gratuity is what we offer as a thank you for a wonderful job, not something forced on us because an establishment does not pay their employees enough or charges them too much for their space. read more

Not a great hair cutting experience. From the moment she scowled to me "don't be late!" On the phone I knew it wasn't going to go well. I think if you bring your kids here for a buzz cut or something really simple then it's a very nice looking place in a nice area and you'll be very satisfied. Me on the other hand after growing my hair out and looking for a trim got almost an entirely new head of hair cut off. From the un-layered sides with totally uneven ends to the unequal sides of course not to mention the extra length on top and the back. It's not for me. Others may have much better experiences and rightly so if it's a simple cut. I won't recommend or not recommend this place. I just won't go back. read more

This was my first time and last time going to this place. The haircut itself by Roslalina was good, but the overall customer service at checkout for payment was a definite 1 star. I was charged $35 for my cut, which I expected and then I added in a 15% tip on the card reader. After the payment went through they proceeded to tell me that it's a mandatory 20% tip for all haircuts. I had a puzzled look on my face since I was like what the hell, why....and secondly, if that's your policy why the heck did you not tell me so before you charged me? She then walked over to one of the stations and grabbed the sign that was over at one of the hair STATIONS with this policy on it, and not on the front desk counter to show me. They then made me pay the extra $2 bucks to get them to their 20% tip. It was such an awkward experience and because of this I will not be going back. Right there you QUICKLY lost a new customer. If you don't disclose this information upfront to your customers, don't expect them to pay the difference after you've already charged them. Own your mistake, tell me not to worry about it, nicely explain your policy in detail to make them aware and appreciate them for being a new customer! This is seriously small business customer service 101. Secondly, I get inflation, but instead of making it mandatory to pay a 20% tip, just increase your rates. Customers should be able to tip according to how they want based on the results and overall experience. I understand restaurants doing this with large parties, but for a $35 haircut?? Never Going back!! First of all, I am not sure if he was even a certified hair stylist. He was really handling me rough and was literally hurting me with the clipper. He gave me rounded back, completely trimmed off my side burns without even asking me. I asked him to trim off half inch and he cut more than an inch. Nothing he did was correct. This is the second time visiting, first time it was on point. But that brings us to today, 1-17-2023 and by far one of the worst experiences I have experienced getting a haircut in Texas. I made an appointment for a cut and shampoo along with a head message. What I left with was a basic haircut, that was performed primarily with clippers then a hair dryer blowing the clippings off of me then being told I was finished. The stylist could barely speak English and as on their tv monitors clearly showing what my appointment was scheduled for she could not read either. They even have the nerve to tell you at check out you MUST tip a minimum of 20%. Without a doubt you should stay away and don't even enter this establishment. read more

Been here enough times to be able to make some comments now. I was briefly going to a barbershop in the vicinity but left them because they took a 33% price increase because of "inflation". I don't do 33% PI's. CoolHeads took one recently, $2 or 6.7%. That make more sense. The appointment system is very easy to use. My only suggestion is for CoolHeads to send either an email or text confirmation after the appointment is made. You can log back in with a phone number, I believe, and look at your appointment, but I always appreciate a confirmation I can reference. Make an appointment with Anne. Very nice lady and I would describe her as meticulous with quality. In this day and age where people are just trying to get you in and out of the chair in fifteen minutes, I definitely appreciate her attention to detail and perfection. They have a fridge full of drinks and the chairs are incredibly comfortable. So far so good and I will keep coming back. read more

This is a new location and I am a new customer. When I saw the writeup on what this brand offers, luxury services, I signed up for their gold package. I was sold on the type of luxury that their "Cool Heads" service offers (Their elite haircut package). First, when trying to book the "Cool Heads" service on their website, there is no drop down selection available for that service. So what I have been doing is putting my desire for Cool Heads service in the comments. The problem has been that when I go in to the salon, the stylists tell me that they don't have time to do that service (ie they are the only stylist on duty). It would be great if there was a way to book the cool heads service online so that expectations are set. read more
