This is the second time the company has done this - they quoted for example $2,600 and have you sign blank screens without text above your signatures. They then send an invoice with the quoted amount - $2,600 and tell you you will receive the annual discount on that amount, bringing it down to $2,300. Later they charged the full price of $2,600 and state that the full amount already included the discount, even though the invoice shows no discount. They then send an updated invoice of $2,600 saying the discounted amount is already applied. After two times of doing this, I will not be working with this company again. read more

Do NOT use this company for New installs or service of any kind. Our smart system Hvac, Furnace and thermostat was installed by them Dec. 2017. They serviced the cooling in 2019 and did not disclose upon our purchased in June of 2020. Our family and pets were having horrible nausea, headaches and called in Gordon May 2023 and he said there is a Freon leak and that his company serviced the system in 2019. He added more Freon even though we asked why a New unit would be leaking. He said he didn't know, but could check for $300 more dollars. He got it running and left after we paid $450 for service call without any diagnosis. Continued problems, so we called in another company for second opinion. The Freon Gordon added destroyed the havoc coil and compressor and filled our furnace eztrap with Freon and oil. That is what was making us sick. There is leak in the furnace evaporator coil where they retro fitted the drainage pipe. So the entire system inside and out has to be replaced. A $10k loss for us. Cool Techs takes no accountability and disregards the medical harm caused to us and our pets, let alone the fire hazard to us and the entire condo building. I will file a DPOR, BBB complaint and we will be filing court documents against this company. Hopefully, the State of Virginia will not allow this company to ever work here again. read more

Based on a recommendation from a friend, I took a chance on this place. My ac decided to take a vacation in July. Although they say they're located in Linden, I think they serve the entire northern Virginia area as I am located in Fairfax. Anyway, the guy who came was right on time, not one of those I'll see you between 12 and 8 lines that other companies feed you. The technician that came was very efficient, he explained to me what was broken and how he could fix it in a way that I could understand, which was awesome. I'm glad ya'll had good experiences. We just had another company come out because our attic unit was being wonky. We were not surprised to be informed that the gas was not switched on to the unit after Jason's last visit to replace AC coil. Our experience failed in so many ways, failure to diagnose, properly repair, and provide estimate on services. This was through our warranty company and Cool Tech came out responding to an electrical issue where we smelled smoke. Sure enough, something had burned out, lets order and replace it! Okay, no communication, several days, longer than a week, finally had the item in. The tech goes up and says, "uh oh, something else was burned, you need this, that was a real fire up there." Yea, we know, the fire department responded, you are the expert didn't you check it all out the first time and made a diagnosis? Nope, another two weeks with no AC in the summer. Then, its all fixed, right? Nope, still not right, call the warranty company, out comes Cool Tech. "You need a new coil, its all rusted." Huh? What? The first, second times that was missed? The coil is pretty big, pretty easy to see the rust and failure of it, Oh how I wish I could post photos of the coil. Why didn't you check all of this when I specifically asked because of the fire, HUGE concern about safety. "Oh we did that." UmmmmHmmmm... Okay, you install a new coil, no problem, do it. Work completed and out comes the bill. We knew there was a Freon charge, 2-3 lbs we were informed. Yeah, nope, "here's the charge for bringing this up to code, the Freon, you have old stuff, oh we didn't tell you the entire system had to be charged, 5lbs." We disputed and paid for what the warranty company quoted us. I again said, yeah, we are out so many service calls, three now because of the lack of proper inspection and diagnosis. Here's some money, have a good day, thanks for coming on a Saturday. So last night, when I turned the heat on and in the morning it was still quite cold, temperature actually went down, my husband said, "I'm sure its something not connected up there." And my husband isn't a fix it guy, he's a I'll make a call guy. Call the warranty company, "uh Cool Tech can come...." No thank you. Another company comes out, sure enough, the GAS LINE was not connected from the work in the summer. The GAS LINE that is the fuel to heat the house. THE GAS LINE. :[ So the service fella said, "Was it my company that did this, cause I'm gonna go back to the office and RIDE this one." No sir, it was Cool Tech. I opened a hair salon in Gainesville, VA (Three Ways Beautiful Salon & Spa) June 1, 2016. In mid July the AC stopped working while I had clients in the shop. A friend recommended I call Jason @ Cool Techs which I promptly did. I explained the urgency to get my AC up & running and he was able to be on-site within two hours. After diagnosing the problem as a defective capacitor, (which he had on his service truck) he was able to get the unit up & running within 30 minutes of arrival. I was expecting a hefty invoice due to the sense of urgency, however I was pleasantly surprised when he handed me the invoice! Very reasonably priced with no additional markup or "emergency fees".
