My dad and I had called over 6 different plumbing companies that advertised as being able to work on septic. Five out of the six said they do not do pumping of the septic tanks. The sixth one said they'd call us back but after 48 hours had not. Today, 5/5/26, my dad was driving back to his home from running an errand and saw a Powell's Plumbing truck pumping a septic at a nearby house. He turned around and went back and asked them if they could come and do his while they were in the area. They made a call and said yes! They showed up shortly after the job they were doing was finished and took care of pumping dad's septic out. Amazing. Dad said the lead tech was training a new tech but that they both were super polite, very professional and took care so as not to damage any shrubbery around the house. Used Powell many years ago to clean out a septic tank and thought I got decent value and good service. Could not say the same for the guy who came several years later. I believe his name was Adam. He stood around and smoked while another fellow stooped down to clean out the septic. Got a big bill for this service but was not told what was actually done. Purchased a water softener from them that has not worked correctly . They have come out tested water know that the water softener not working correctly and even billed me for users they diagnosed incorrectly . Although the response I first got from yelp clearly said "price estimate" and NOT service call charge, 2 men showed up, to look at the surface mount sink I wanted installed, took a long time looking at it, then gave me a price for the job, and I said no thanks, that's way too much. I then had to sign something that said I would have to pay the $75 service call charge, since I declined to have them do it. I then called another local plumber who came over this afternoon and didn't charge me for an estimate, but then gave me a price that was less than half of Powell's plumbing estimate. Had a leak into my basement from the main floor. To their credit a technician was sent out same day, but was unable to locate the leak. As it was close to the furnace after consulting with his supervisor, they told me it was an HVAC issue with condensation on the ducts most likely. After paying their service call fee I had HVAC guys come by. They said 100% not an HVAC issue. On a whim we pulled the fridge away from the wall and sure enough the ice maker line had a pin hole. $2.50 compression fitting fixed the issue. Sure glad I paid Powell's all that money for an HVAC guy to do their job for them. Will be looking for other services in the future. Should have read the reviews here first. read more

We called Powell's because of water in the basement, turned out our pressure tank and hot water heater decided to quit. Jacob and Roy were dispatched and told us what the problem was and how much to fix it. They didn't have a heater on their truck so we made plans to have it fixed the next day. We've had Jabob here before to fix a pressure switch and he was just as polite and helpful as he was then. So Jacob and his helper Pucker came and installed the tanks , they made sure everything was working correctly before they left. AVOID!!!!!!! I am new to area and have been so impressed with all the local vendors... that was until I found Powell's. They did a small job well so when I had a second-floor water leak ruining my ceiling I called them again. APALLING Plumber said I had a crack in my fiberglass tub and would need to replace it. They had one in stock and for several thousand dollars they would replace the rotted sub floor and the tub. I looked at it after he left and there was no moisture or sub-floor rot under the tub. Rather it appeared to be a leaky fitting. I called another plumber who said the problem was in fact a leaking fitting.... Under $200 later the problem was fixed. The bad fitting had residue on it. The second plumber said it was due to no plumbers putty being used when installed. This explanation was very different than Powell's. Powell's assessment was that it was a dangerous calcium issue in the water that would begin to affect our kidneys. Their solution to this issue was to completely replace our water treatment system. Powell's also noted that the water piping used in my 5-year-old house was a bad product and that I should start replacing portions each year before it began to crack and cause damage. I got a second opinion on that as well and found that the product was used in almost every new home build and only cracks if frozen. When I complained to Powell's they refunded my $75 for the diagnostic visit without comment on the preposterous assessments. I guess it is possible that the plumber was just completely incompetent and not trying to rip me off... read more

DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND Powells Plumbing for several reasons. 1. Did not honor appointment date. I made appointment several days ahead of service date and then I waiting around for hours. Appointment was supposed to be between 11-1pm. At 3:30 I received a call they will not be arriving and tried to schedule another appointment a few days out. Told them if they did not come the next day I would schedule with another company since plumbing emergency. 2. Did not resolve issue after two visits and hundreds of $$$. The major reason for my call was clogged downstairs toilet. I called Powell's because I had three other plumbers snake the toilet and issue kept coming back. I expressed my concern that I believed this was a bigger issue than just snaking a toilet and I would like them to send camera down. Well, they just snaked the toilet instead and charged $350. A few hours later the same toilet was overflowing again. I called their office and asked to have plumber come back. Plumber came the next day, did the same thing and then they charged my card $275 without my knowledge or authorization. Guess what... toilet still overflowing. Called a better plumber and the real issue was the city sewage line was broken. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND $$$. 3. Charged credit card without authorization. On the second visit (since issue not resolved on first) they charged my card without my consent or authorization. I was never given a bill, an invoice or anything. Out of nowhere I noticed a $275 additional charge. They must of kept my card on file and charged. I thought they were just following up since they didn't resolve issue on first trip. I had to open a fraud dispute with my bank. I will repeat DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. read more

I asked for a specific tech that the manufacturer recommended. They sent someone else. I requested my septic pump be checked out. I was told it would be 75$ for them to show up. If I allowed them to complete the repair, the 75$ would be credited. They showed up on time. He presented me with a 300$ bill without looking at anything. He said to sign or he would leave. I asked about the 75$. He acted like he didn't know and said he would leave. He said for that price he would check the pumps and floats. I agreed and signed. He opened the 4 septic lids and said I would need to have it pumped before he could check them. He checked my panel for 5 min and said I have voltage to the pumps. Very shady. Honest review from real customer. Called for a leaking expansion tank on top of the water heater. Powell's answered and sent someone out in an hour. The gentleman was young but seemed confident in his abilities. He looked at the crack and leak in the side of the tank and gave me an estimate of what it would cost and then replace the tank shortly after. I elected to change both the expansion and water heater tank since it was 10 years old. The gentlemen installed the water heater without issue and explained its functionality. The job cost around 1700, would I use them again probably so, little expensive but everything went without issue. I have used other popular plumbers in the area and they are no better or worse and are just as expensive. My job was straight forward compared to the more complex jobs listed in the reviews. However, with the lack of skilled tradesmen in America every time you call for service it is a gamble these days even when using the same company for years. read more

I called Powell's yesterday, July 21. yes, it was Sunday, but their website was misleading, by stating they provide same day service. I spoke to the answering service who took the name, phone and email address. She informed me that the on call technician would give me a call. Two hours later I called back as I had no call back. The lady stated that the technician may be in the middle of an emergency but assured me he would call. By 2:30, still no call back. I called the answering service once more. a different lady answered the phone and she informed me that there is no technician on Sunday. On Monday morning Powell's did call early and informed me that emergency services start at 250.00 an hour and they can be at the house between 5pm and 7pm. I'm thinking this should not be considered an emergency situation now because they are not prioritizing it as such. Needless to say, Powell has lost all of the confidence I had in them. I called Roto Rooter, who answered the phone, arrived promptly, diagnosed the problem, started working on the problem (blockage in the sewer) and are coming back tomorrow, July 23 to finish up. I brought Buffalo Wild Wings to a plumber employed at Powell's, with his name tag displayed as "Logan" took the food. Thanked me and then reported he never received his food. His Mountain Dew and Buffalo Wild Wings he personally took from me. I not only was advised to make a police report for theft, I canceled them as a possible plumbing company to work in my home. If you hire people who, lie, cheat and steal, keep Logan on your team-his lack of integrity cost Powells business a 9k contract. From the first visit to diagnose our problem to the final clean up, Powell's did a very good job of fixing a complex and difficult problem. Other plumbers came out and cleaned out the line but never thought to check the one upstream. The first tech from Powell's ran the camera and mapped everything and found our issue. The quote came in at a reasonable cost. It included some backhoe work, concrete busting, concrete repair, going under the foundation and removing 60 year old cast iron pipe. Mike (the tech) and Anthony (his assistant) worked very hard to get things done right and in a timely manner. We never had to leave the house, as service was restored every day. I have used Powell's twice now, once for a job cleaning out a grease trap in a restaurant and once to install a laundry sink in a basement (hooking it up to a sewer line. I was charged nearly $250 for the grease trap and was able to find a different company that did the same job faster for 1/3 the price. The laundry sink cost over $800 in labor and materials and that didn't even include the sink, sump pump, and faucet that I paid for on my own! Somehow it took $317 worth of PVC to connect a sink to a sewer line when the connection couldn't have run more than 8 feet. Are they knowledgeable? Sure. Do they respond quickly? Somewhat. Can you find comparable or better work that is a hell of a lot cheaper? Lawds YES!!! PS. The only reason I even went with this company for the laundry issue is because that is who my tenants contacted. If I had been the one to make the call there would have been 20 other companies I'd have called first. read more
