There is a little area that is enclosed with a heater similar to the one at the Fenway station. Unfortunately the heater was broken. A train comes by every 10-20 minutes at night, while in the mornings and noon it's every 5-8 minutes. The train around this area does go a little slow so leave for your destination early. Keep in mind if you get cold easily, don't sit by the doors. A breeze comes in every time they open the doors. If you sit in the middle or away from the doors the green line does heat up!

Except that out here, Reservoir station, Cleveland Circle Station and Chestnut Hill Avenue Station are within about five blocks of each other. An easy walk and maybe if you're riding the Green Line into the city, you'll have a quicker ride from Reservoir since there aren't as many stops between here and Kenmore. Reservoir is on the D branch of the Green Line. A solid above ground station, it has good cover to protect you from the elements, plenty of waiting area, audible and visual announcements of the next trains in both directions, and automated ticketing machines for purchasing a Charlie Ticket or adding value to your Charlie Card. The station is between Chestnut Hill (about a mile away, outbound) and Beaconsfield inbound. There are a number of bus connections upstairs.

It travels down the middle of Commonwealth Avenue (aka Comm Ave) and ends at Boston College. There are 24 stations on the Green Line, which runs about six miles. A full run at a normal time will take about 45 minutes. Busier times are close to an hour. During rush hour, the trains run often but not often enough. It gets way too crowded. I've skipped boarding trains at Boylston for 20 minutes until there was enough room for me to squeeze on. Fortunately, I don't have to commute in Boston because this would suck. I'm sorry, fellow riders! And as for the riders, I do see the occasional dude offer his seat to a more senior rider. This doesn't happen often enough, especially when the sign says right there that the seat is reserved for handicapped or elderly! We finally get to Harvard and we're randomly let off where I've added pics across from the TD bank but there's nothing clearly labeled which buses to take or not. On our way back we had to ask multiple bus drivers which bus ours should be to get back into the center of Boston. Bit of a nightmare, really. Clearer signage is a definite must, esp on days when it's raining, which it was.

I can't say that I've seen this level of service at any above ground Green Line station. There are audible and visual announcements of the next train and there are some areas where you can sit/lean while you wait. The station is pretty well lit and there's a taxi stand though both times I was here, I did not see any waiting taxis. There is a ramp boarding area for those who need such assistance in boarding the quite high Green Line train cars. Brookline Village is on the D branch of the Green Line between Longwood (inbound) and Brookline Hills (outbound).

Outside taxi and bus stand, though the taxi driver wanted a minimum in charge and would only take cash if it was only $15-20 for the ride to the hotel. Amtrak, buses, subway stop, and regional rail here (MBTA). The building wraps around the corner and doesn't connect to the business tower behind - interesting design, though. They did allow you to board about 10-15 min early.

The bad thing is you have to go through this filthy station. It gets crazy on game days. The Red Sox fans are drunk and they get loud and sometimes violent. Also it connects to many busses. There's a lot of bus routes that go here. Another station with the location about the only good thing about it, and that's only when there's a game. It's convenient for Red Sox games to avoid looking for parking and paying for it. The station itself is pretty bad, but it has lots of connections to busses and trains.

You can stand in the middle of Yawkey and just take it all in for a few minutes. I sure did and appreciated that I got to experience such a spectacular evening that started on Yawkey. Everyone was in good spirits and courteous. Clearly even if there isn't an event happening at Fenway you can still explore the different bars and have a good time. We didn't really know what to do at the start because there weren't any instructions of how to purchase a ticket. Apparently you can just put your card to the turnstile and it will credit you for a ride and open the gate. Ignore others jumping the gate. It's not right and others we talked to said eventually people get caught jumping the gate or drafting people through.
