This place is awesome! We have had access due to our hotel stays - but if you lived in the area - you should take advantage in the world class facilities and grounds of the CFC. I'm impressed and really enjoy visiting when we are in town! I admit it. For the majority of the last 25 years, I've been a gym rat. You know, one of those guys that has spent an outsized share of time sitting on spin bikes, hitting the weights, socializing with other patrons, and taking advantage of most every gym amenity as if it was my own. Yes, I developed a sick and ugly addiction to the sour smells of sweat and the sound of weight-lifting grunts. I found that my social circles pathetically included only other gym rats. And worst of all, I got the DT's each time I had to go home. My family and loved ones unsuccessfully tried countless times to do an intervention, attempting to break me from my soul-sucking addiction but nothing worked. Finally, it took the closures of gyms during the pandemic to finally break me free of my obsession. After belonging over 20 years to a competing gym facility, I decided to try Cooper Fitness after the pandemic loosened. I was attracted to the large open facilities, with well-maintained equipment, which also offered walking/jogging paths, tennis courts, outside pools. and a food grill. (And, of course, the founder of the Cooper Clinic, Dr. Ken Cooper, is a legend in fitness and preventive medicine.) The only times that the facility tends to get crowded seems to be in the mid-mornings. Most of the clientele is a bit older than many other health clubs in the area...which is okay in my book since I'm somewhat pleased to finally lose the preening rooster alpha-males who used to strut around in my old gym thinking they were like Hans and Franz in that old Saturday Night Live skit. And in later morning time frames, parking can occassionally be a challenge. At this time, the facility is getting an expansion, which I hope will provide a bit more space...I've got my fingers crossed that there will be more flexibility for floor stretching activities which can be strained at times. So head on over to Cooper Fitness and demonstrate your fitness prowess. And if you want to act like Hans and Franz, that's okay...I will forgive you. read more

This place is legendary. I mean, the founder of modern aerobics (Dr. Ken Cooper) is the one who engineered everything about this place. From the second you step on the gorgeous multi-acre campus, you can tell that these folks take fitness seriously. There's so much going on here I'll narrow down and focus on the Fitness Center itself. I've been in a lot of gyms during my lifetime, but nothing comes close to matching Cooper in terms of first-class amenities, trainers, class offerings, and high-tech cutting edge science. If you just want to show up and use the gym or the outdoor track, you will get your money's worth. But there's so much more. Most of the fitness classes are included with your membership - spin, yoga, pilates, etc. Choose your class using the Cooper app or see updated listings on their website. Today, my spin instructor was Kim Chance who happened to win a national championship in marathon mountain biking over the weekend. Yep, their folks are aces. Great staff. The personal trainers are great as well, though the only one I used was Ryan as it was included with my membership back a couple of years ago. Beyond the gym, there are pools, tennis facilities, a beautiful jogging trail, fitness store, terrific restaurant, and so much more. They won't publish their fitness center fees on their website, so I called. This is very much "if you have to ask, you can't afford it". $700 initiation and $201 a month... but no contract. I can't speak about the gym because I have not set foot in it. I'm sure it's amazing. For that price it has to be. read more

This place has an awesome running track, pool, and gym. It's very strange, however. The vibe is almost like you are stepping into a cult-like experience; most as if you are an outsider. read more

I've been regularly going to Cooper my whole life. Both my parents are members and I have continued my membership through college and into my professional career. I have worked out at most gyms in Dallas at one time or another; Telos, Equinox, LA, 24 etc. It is my opinion that Cooper is the best. Pros: Personal training. The turnover is so low that I've know most of them the majority of my life! The fitness assessment is very comprehensive and the training sessions are top notch Facility. Great locker rooms, weight room floor, basketball court, pools, outside running trail, to name a few Equipment. 5 power plates!! If you haven't experienced one, you're missing out. State of the art equipment is well maintained and new. Group classes. Yoga, Pilates, bootcamps are great ways to change it up. Great instructors as well. Spa. Massages I've had have been great The recent renovations easily make this gym the best in Dallas IMO. It's not even accurate to call it a gym but rather an all encompassing wellness center. The Cooper Aerobics Center on Preston Road is as good as it gets. It's not your typical 24 hour fitness, but they have world class facilities and equipment, and a wide variety of classes. I would say their membership costs are higher than average, but you do get what you pay for in terms of service and a wonderful location and amenities. The outside walking track is calm and tranquil, plus they have a great pool with water classes you can take advantage of. The spa next door, while additional in cost, it just wonderful! read more

This review is based on over ten years of membership and addresses the fitness center and hotel only. The location and grounds are five star. More like a campus. Quiet, fun to go to with the kids and just bang around the park like center. The hotel is a great value, well staffed, clean and quiet. The staff are really great- always friendly. The pools are great. And now the problems: Working out there is like traveling back in time to the 1980s when nobody knew anything about exercise. Lots of machines, no Olympic lifting platforms, sparse free weights, group classes... There has been a revolution in athletic training - intervals, HIT, strength training , Olympic lifting that has been completely ignored by the low intensity aerobic slant at Cooper fitness center. The training concepts suck balls and it shows in the clientele -in ten years nobody ever got better just weaker and older. And this gets to the crux- the clientele are insufferable weak in body and mind Preston Hollow one percenters - not a single athlete among them. It's douchebag central.p read more

I've been a member for 20+ years, and I'd say there are many positive things about the Cooper Fitness Center. The location and the outdoor track are 5 star. The equipment, studios, locker rooms, fitness trainers are all great. The problem is the summer kids' camp! The kids stand on the track as runners try to get thru, the locker room is jammed with teenage employee counselors who "settle in" all day to prime locker space, the available pool lanes drop from 6 to 3, and two-thirds of the gym floor is roped off for a basketball camp consisting of 4 pre-schoolers. I wish Cooper would focus on its ADULT membership, and allow kids to come ONLY with their parents during the weekend family hours. I find it nearly impossible to get through my workout on weekday mornings because of the kids' camps! Join Cooper Fitness Center if you want to trip over young campers all summer long! read more

This is a very belated but necessary review. My parents purchased a very pricey gift card basket at a charity auction, and included in the gift certificates was a Cooper Fitness 30 day membership, 1 session with a personal trainer, and a massage. They decided to give me this as a present, and I was thrilled. I visited the center for the first time and received a tour from a very uptight and professional lady, who got me set up with a temporary card to use to enter and use the facility. I very much enjoyed my time working out there- Nice equipment, great running track, and very clean and nice locker room. I did find it very odd, the ladies in the shower room every morning, all knew each other, and I was the only person who was not greeted by everyone, and was just slyly looked at, almost as if they were suspicious of me. In other words, there was a group of older ladies that all knew each other, that watched me as I walked by, obviously wondering who i was and why I was there. So immediately I realized this is a very clique-y place. The same thing happened in the cafe as well. Fine, no big deal, i was still enjoying the facility. When the time came for my training session, I met with the female trainer and we begin our session. As I was doing some walking lunges, she pointedly asked me about my package/gift certificate bundle, and told me she had never heard of such a thing. In her questioning me, she made me feel bad for being there. She made me feel not welcome...Like a charity case. Even though, my package had been purchased for quite a bit of money. Still , No big deal. However, the icing on the cake was when I visited the spa to get my massage. The masseuse was wonderful. I went to the spa front desk afterwards to give them my certificate and tip, and they assured me I could tip with my card. I did so, and then found that my card was charged the entire amount of my massage. I called, and they rudely informed me that there would be a holding charge for the amount and that is the only way they can allow someone to tip on the card. I then spoke to the spa manager, who questioned me about how I was able to visit the spa, and when I informed her that my massage card was part of a gift package she said that i wasn't supposed to have the massage gift card/it wasn't supposed to be gifted. A very long confusing argument ensued about whether or not I was supposed to have the gift package (not even about the charge anymore) It was incredibly upsetting, because once again, this package was purchased for quite a bit of money. In the end, I realized that the entire time I visited I was sneered at, questioned, and felt a bit unwelcome in the space. read more

I've being going to the spa at this place about once a month for almost a year, until I finally succumbed and signed up for the full-cost membership (well, they waived the sign-up fee). The facilities are great, the members are classy, and it's the only outdoor pool in Dallas area where you can swim laps in peace , not being surrounded by screaming kids and psychotic music (that's what sold me). They also have great water aerobics classes with amazing instructors. read more

I absolutely love this gym! I was tired of the whole uptown Dallas gym scene- I just wanted a good workout in a comfortable place without all the people watching that I see at other gyms. Plus my workout is framed with comfort when I use the beautiful and clean Ladies Locker Rooms! read more
