After our lovely lunch we drove back and our RV was ready to get back on the road We were three women traveling alone and we felt completely safe getting back on the road again. Traded us a tractor with mower that he advertised to us and described as identical to a different one he actually posted a picture of with the exception of a pretty paint job. Turns out the mower on the one he traded us is missing several key parts to attach it to the tractor. Thus the tractor is useless for what we were going to use it for. We traded for a $2000 dump truck. He claimed he was representing someone else whose name was Cliff S. Sheldon kept making promises to deliver the missing parts and was continually a no show. Every phone call was an excuse. He even started blaming the Cliff guy. Needless to say here it is 2 months later and we still do not have the missing parts nor the tractor chains that were promised. Wish we would have looked up other ratings on his FB pages. Quite a few unhappy customers. Buyers and Sellers beware.

Anyway, I explained to them several times that I was looking at trade in value and that I had a couple of offers from carmax and nerdwallet. The lady I spoke to said that they usually (key word) do better than them. I figured, what the heck, they are only an hour away, why not. Now, I was brutally honest about rating my truck, actual mileage, scratches, as well as the accessories. Well, they lowballed me by $3000.00 and made it sound like they were being very generous and magnanimous about the whole deal. I told him he was low and thanked him for his time. He was a bit taken aback about that. Asked me if I wanted his estimate, said I could keep it or even throw it in his face if I wanted to. Okay, I did kinda chuckle over that. Obviously, he has done this before with limited success. As I left, he tried to engage and explain his position, I just smiled and left. The lady I originally spoke to sent me a half-hearted apology email that made me chuckle, too. Update: I sold my truck to Driveway.com for $25,150. Blaise Alexander offered to go as high as $22,000 (after telling me it was only worth $21,000 and change). Even though I was only asking for trade-in value, I was prepared to take $24,000 when I went there. Lucky for me, they low balled me. I guess I owe them a thank you.

I told him that I didn't care what the car looked like (as it is getting older) but that I just needed it to be fixed so that it was drivable. He stopped what he was doing, brought out some tools, and fixed it up right as I waited! I was thrilled and extremely grateful that he was willing to help. He didn't charge me for the work that he did at that time but let me know what the parts would cost to fix it "right." The estimate he reported to me was under $100. He was very willing to accommodate my upcoming busy work schedule as well, which is great as I didn't get a rental car. After West's closed, I was worried about where I would go to have my car fixed in these type of situations that arise... I am relieved that there is still a body shop in the area that doesn't just try to rip you off! This is the place to go! :)
