Looking for the best selection of meat you will find anywhere in the Metro area....this is it! Cooper's features Country Pleasin Brands and their meats are the best I have had in Mississippi. A couple of my favorite things to get are the Pin Wheels (I like the jalapeno, cheese, and steak but all flavors are great), the crab stuffed mushrooms are also a must. In the market for Ribs, these are the best you will find anywhere. This is a full service butcher shop so any kind of meat you are looking for they will have. Sausage, Bacon, Chicken, Ham, Steak, etc. Around the holidays this is the place to get your smoked Turkey and Ham. Make sure to check with them ahead of time as you will probably need to place an order. In addition to the wonderful meats, they have pickles, relishes, jelly, rubs and seasonings. One of my latest finds is the Pecan pie. Did I mention how reasonable their prices are? It is definitely worth the drive to just south of Florence. Located next to Jerry's Catfish House (The Igloo). Enjoy.

Kami Burage my dad and I lost our minds in this place I came for a smoked ham and smoked turkey. For a little over $20 for both of them together, how can you not? Just thaw and heat??? Oh yeah, I had to. My dad came to browse and I don't know what happened next thing I know he had a filet mignon, twice baked potato, and his favorite bbq seasoning that he hasn't been able to find for over a year! It was a great time exploring with Kami and him. We had a great time! When I hit the lottery, I'm moving in... they had St Louis cut ribs (my favorite cut) for a mere $15 and some change for a whole slab!! That's insane. A 16 lb whole brisket for $60!!! I'll definitely be back! Great exploration! -- at Country Meat Packers.

Always very friendly, good choices. The cooked portion in the corner smells amazing. Their stuffed pork chops are very good.

Nobody but customers had on masks. Great products but not worth catching Covid. I'll be back after the virus is over.

I tried several different flavors and my favorites were the pineapple and jalapeno. They are now making their sausages available here and I picked up some right away. Lil Butcher Shoppe is located at 1910 Broadway Dr in Hattiesburg, MS, and has been proudly serving the Pine Belt region since 1991. This family-owned and operated "olde-fashioned" butcher shop offers a wide variety of fresh, high-quality meats, local products, and excellent customer service. From its humble beginnings at Tip's gas station to its current thriving location, Lil Butcher Shoppe has become a beloved fixture in the community and now making their sausages products available in stores. Their history, brothers David Lawson and Steven Dyar founded Lil Butcher Shoppe over three decades ago, drawing inspiration from their family's history in the service industry. Prior to opening the butcher shop, David worked at Tip's, a gas station named after their mother, Christal "Tip" Lawson. The family managed the various locations from the years 1974-1990. David had worked in the family's gas station business his entire life, where he learned business management and customer service skills. After serving in the Navy, Steven Dyar began working at Carroll's Meat Shoppe, Patricia (Trish) Dyar's family butcher shop in Jacksonville, FL. This is where Steve learned the butcher trade and fell in love with Trish, whom he married. In 1990, the couple decided to move back to Mississippi. Lil Butcher Shoppe boasts a vast selection of fresh, hand-cut beef, pork, chicken, and seafood. Customers can also request custom cuts to suit their preferences. In addition to high-quality meats, the shop offers a range of homemade items, such as: * Stuffed Potatoes (6 flavors) * Bratwursts * Boudin * Meatloaf * Smoked Chicken * Stuffed Porkchops * Stuffed Chicken * Gumbo * Mardi Gras Pasta Sauce * Casseroles * Stuffed Mushrooms & Peppers * Crawfish Pies The shop also stocks an assortment of cheeses, homemade jams, and various ready-to-bake dishes. With such a diverse array of offerings, Lil Butcher Shoppe truly caters to a wide range of tastes and culinary needs. I have already prepared a number of dishes for breakfast and dinner using several of these sausages and I'm a fan. The pineapple flavor is very good just grilled on a bun with a pineapple slaw and the jalapeno one is great with beans. I have more ideas and there's lots of ideas. Bottom line: Lil Butcher Shoppe has stood the test of time as a family-owned, community-oriented establishment in Hattiesburg, MS. Offering an extensive array of high-quality meats, homemade dishes, and local products, it remains a go-to destination for residents and visitors alike who appreciate quality and exceptional customer service. The food in the cafe in the back looked like it had been sitting for hours and it was only 10 am. Highly deceptive pricing! They do not put prices on anything. I am heading to Hattiesburg area to pick up some of these staples bcuz there is no reason these prices should represent California prices.

Carniceria Valdez is literally a counter in the back of a Mexican grocery, but coming out of that kitchen is some mighty fine Mexican food. I went with a couple of tacos and a gordita. For the gordita, I went with chorizo as the protein and for the tacos I went with the asada and the barbacoa. The tacos were just under two dollars each ($1.99 to be exact) and the gordita was, I believe, $3.50. I probably enjoyed the gordita the most and the chorizo was definitely my favorite protein out of my three choices. The staff was friendly enough, though the ordering process was you walk up to the counter and order your meal and they call you up when it is ready. All in all, I would definitely recommend here and I will give it five stars.
