What an unexpected gem! This place doubles as a shop and bar with fancy cocktails. It's the perfect place to start your night with a drink or cap it off! We went here before dinner and it was easy to get a sat at the bar at that time. We also went here also after going to the Cooperstown Distillery earlier in the day so we were well versed on the spirits. I got a Fenimore flyer which was delicious and very boozy. I was definitely ready to party afterwards. My husband got the Manhattan and it was also delicious. The bartenders were also so nice and were chatting with us the whole time telling us about the town and hall of fame induction weekend. This is a gem of a place on Main Street in Cooperstown, most known for the National Baseball Hall of Fame. The location is amazingly convenient for the tourists who are going to the local museum or other local dining and shopping spots. While there are other places to get drinks, it's nice to have a place that focuses on a more bar like atmosphere. This is a combo drink service and shopping opportunity for souvenirs, so come here to drink and find gifts to bring to your loved ones (that may not want baseball themed items from the rest of the street). It has a large selection of drinks from the Cooperstown Distillery a few blocks away as well as other souvenirs like shirts, bottles, etc. The drinks, there is a specialty menu crafted for their stock and sometimes baseball themed. When I've visited, the staff is really interactive and will make something not on the menu if you tell them the type of drink you like (e.g. sweet, bitter, something with orange juice, etc.). They mix in locally brewed beer including some of their own. My experience there has been afternoon, not night life. So, it's more of a conversational environment as people come in and naturally are open to sharing their experiences on their trip, in the museum, etc. Only thing keeping it from 5 stars is the somewhat limited tap beer selection, I mean it's great but not perfect. They will have local beers, craft, themed mixed drinks, with knowledgeable staff that can accommodate special requests. read more

Chill place, the lady that runs this place was very chill and helped with finding the perfect whiskey. Fudge is delicious which was made with their whiskey! Walked in to just purchase 4 bottles of wine at 8 pm on a Monday and waited for at least 15 min to be acknowledged with bottles sitting on the bar. We first stopped here in March 2017 while doing admitted students tours with our elder son. Back then, the drinks were 8 bucks, so cheap, and quality! Fast forward to 2023, the prices have gone up, but not overtly so, it's 10-12 bucks now, and you are getting a craft beverage with a top-shelf liquor, expertly made by friendly staff. Sometimes you are just in the mood for a special drink that goes above and beyond. If so, this is the place for you! This place was so cool we went back TWICE today! Best Whiskey Sour we've ever had! Jonathan is a great bartender. He's friendly, knowledgeable, full of history and silliness, and he alone caused us to stay longer, drink more, and continue the chat. Well played, bartender, well played. It was lovely to see an old school bartender style of making cocktails, with care and elegance. Seems weird, I know, but worth the stay for visual effect, ambiance and quality. Oh what a lovely little place. My husband and I stopped by on a Friday night but weren't really feeling cocktails so we just took a quick look around and decided we'd be back the next day. During the day they switch from cocktail bar to more of a retail shop atmosphere with tastings of their spirits from Cooperstown Distillery. They have a nice selection and sell some of their spirits in baseball shaped decanters - in theme for Cooperstown but different from the bats and memorabilia stores that line the main streets of town. You can also order beer during the day and have local brews on tap. We sat for awhile talking to other patrons. All in all a nice place with good service. read more

We really wanted to like this place. The location is great and the decor is awesome. The service staff was friendly and very attentive. However. We both ordered their mixed drinks my boyfriend got their gin and tonic and I ordered the mule. My boyfriend said his was flat, we thought the tonic was flat. He asked for it to be remade, normally no big deal. Now we both genuinely believe the bar tender, although nice had no idea the difference between tonic, club soda and this bubble water she made. While she was remaking his drink instead of adding tonic like the recipe says in the menu. She made "bubble water" out of a kitchen-aid device behind the bar. We were both so speechless we didn't say anything. Tonic is a very specific beverage generally used in gin mixes or other bar drinks. "Tonic water is a bitter carbonated soft drink made with quinine, used especially as a mixer with gin or other liquors (originally used as a stimulant of appetite and digestion)." We paid for our drinks and left. We were looking for a place to hang out and we found it elsewhere. We definitely will not be back. read more

Walking down Main Street in Cooperstown it seems every single shop is baseball oriented and all sell the same things. Seriously. The same. Exact. Things. Everywhere. I get it. It's baseball town. Diversity is still a good thing to think about though! Thank you to the owners of Cooperstown Beverage Exchange for changing up the scenery. What a pleasant surprise this was to find. Only open for four weeks and they seem to be doing huge things already. They offer up a variety of local beer, wine, and liquor. They have free tastings and the guys serving up the spirits really knew their stuff. On top of the booze, you'll also find great gifts for the alcohol connoisseur in your life or some goodies for yourself. Definitley a great place to stop in and experience the local beverage scene. Cooperstown Beverage Exchange is a retail store and bar for the Cooperstown Distillery. This place is oozing with character and charm. The drinks are great and the staff was so friendly. An awesome new addition to downtown Cooperstown! It is a hub for the Cooperstown Beverage Trail, and they sell beers, wines, and hard ciders all made by local breweries and wineries, as well as their own hard spirits, a Vodka, Gin, Rum, Bourbon, and a Whiskey, all made by Cooperstown Distillery. The Exchange, as it has been nicknamed, has complimentary tastings all day long of their spirits as well as select members of the beverage trail. The store is also beautifully decorated, complete with beautiful wooden furniture and comfortable lounging couches. A high array of retail merchandise is also available, including Cooperstown Distillery t-shirts and merchandise, flasks, countless high-quality bitters, bottle openers, and so much more. The Exchange is especially extraordinary in that it completely transforms into a cocktail lounge after 5 pm, where retail is removed from the tables and chairs and barstools are brought out to create a very friendly, classy cocktail feel. The signature drinks, that also change very frequently, are all delicious, hand-crafted cocktails made with their spirits. After a long rainy day's exploration of the Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, the boyfriend and I were looking for dinner and drinks. We decided that the first place that was open and serving food would get our business, and he'd noticed the night before that the Cooperstown Beverage Exchange had a sign saying they served food after 5 p.m. We ran over in the rain, and though I was dubious about actually getting food (nobody inside seemed to be eating), I said okay, let's do it. What we discovered was a really mellow, laid-back vibe and some really good beverages, delivered by friendly and accommodating staff. We both started with local beers, and then I moved on to a Manhattan made with the Cooperstown bourbon. All were great. As for the food, it was even more limited than it usually is - a choice between the charcuterie board and one of the sandwiches. We opted for the meat and cheese, which was ample - enough to accommodate four people - fresh and tasty. We especially enjoyed the opportunity to relax in the comfy sofas and watch the Cubs beat the Dodgers for the National League championship... right there in Cooperstown. If we lived closer, I could see us making the Cooperstown Beverage Exchange a regular hangout spot. read more

This place is the bee's knees, its arms, and its legs! Third time there and randomly met the owner tonight. She was super nice and I'm pretty sure my wife has a friend crush on her. Anyway, the drinks are the real deal here. Not only are the base liquors super high quality (of course they are, they're a distillery), but all the mixers are fresh squeezed or made in house. Definitely do a tasting of all their spirits and I dare you to leave there without buying a small triple play (small samplers of their whisky, vodka, and bourbon). Also, if you're lucky enough to be there when they are offering their peach fizz special, you absolutely have to try it. honestly, while the "Cooperstown Beverage Trail" sounds neat in theory, the fact that you'd have to drive to all of them and can't logistically make them all in one day anyway is a bit of a hindrance. and I've been on plenty of tours of breweries/wineries/distilleries so they all blur together. what you're really there for is to sample the elixir, right? well, this store/bar has a bar which serves drinks from all the local manufacturers, at pretty low prices. a tumbler full of Cooperstown Distillery bourbon runs you only 5 bucks. OH YES INDEED. now that's the best way to warm up during winter. ask for a sample of something before you buy, and the staff will oblige; this is how I learned that clear (unaged) whiskey isn't to my liking. you can also buy bottles of pretty much everything locally made to bring home, as well as drinking glasses and other accessories. yes, it's run by Cooperstown Distillery so the emphasis is on their products, but it's cool to see them working with the other places. "a drinking town with a baseball problem" is an apt description of this town... nice comfy place with friendly staff. walking distance to most of the B&Bs and it's right on Main Street. they serve food in the evening, but I saw people bring in pizza too. read more
