Had them do a move for me recently. Was originally slated as a one day move. A few days prior, I was told it would be done over two days because they had to drive a bit of a distance. Understandable but wish they told me that right off the bat. Ed the owner is very professional and nice to work with. Day one went well. Day two I was told they didn't have a driver for the other truck so it would have to be a third day of moving. Not convenient at all! I was also told they would be shorthanded because " I tipped them the first day so some of them went out and partied too hard!" Very unprofessional to say the least. I couldn't be there for day three (because I don't have three days to watch movers do a one day move) and when I went to check the storage unit to see how it was packed a week later, it was a mess. Just had new movers move stuff out of unit into the house, and they as well were appalled at how it was packed. Numerous boxes crushed, 2 shelving units destroyed, and my treadmill stored on its side which cracked the side guard. VERY overpriced. Would not recommend at all! read more

I just completed a move from Chicago to Las Vegas and had a GREAT experience with Copher Moving. Having moved multiple times we can quickly recognize when a mover is knowledgeable. Ed Copher provided great packing tips and offered insight into how Copher Moving would take apart/wrap our furniture to protect it in transit. The Wheaton driver and loading teams on both ends were FANTASTIC. They were professional, efficient, on-time and very easy to work with. Jamie Copher, who manages the delivery schedule and payment was extremely responsive. We had a minor hiccup just before our scheduled pickup but Ed/Jamie and team helped get that resolved with Wheaton and made sure to follow up with us. I highly recommend Copher Moving. Try someone else....otherwise roll the dice and hope nothing goes wrong, because our experience was, it's good until it's not....and it wasn't. Additionally, our furniture didn't get padded and wrapped until it was in the truck, but that's still "professional"...why? because our apt building had other moves scheduled and his movers were 2 hours late. why? because he scrapped them together, literally at the last minute. Poor communication Poor schedule management Didn't accept responsibility for poor outcome which could have been somewhat alleviated if he kept us up to date, as opposed to avoiding our calls until everything was done. These guys are great !!! They moved me last year after Two Men and a Truck came and refused to move me. They left me stranded and I called Copher and they were there in 2 hours..Moved quickly and were less expensive than 2 Men..I'm moving this weekend and I'm calling them for sure...!!! read more

As a senior citizen I have experienced all kinds of good and bad services, but I have never had such a horrible experience as i did with Copher movers. The owner is a gentleman when giving a quote, but when it came time to do the job he sent goons that were so unprofessional I was actually threatened and intimidated by them. They left behind an entire closet of clothes, left their own two wheeler truck in the driveway damaged my new home property. Plus they damaged my furniture, they even tried to hide an expensive floor lamp they broke in half by hiding it behind plywood in the garage. Stay away from this outfit they are nothing more than hacks, the leader of the mover team was either high or drunk and acted like an irrational lunatic. . read more

Honestly, if I could give 0 stars I would. I reached out to Copher Movers (an agent for Wheaton Van Lines) to get a quote on our move from Aruora, IL to Dallas, TX. I sent in a brief inventory of our belongings and was given an estimate and I was told that if I allowed the company to come do an in-person survey of our things, they would send a not-to-exceed estimate afterwards. I agreed, and Ed Copher came out to do the survey. He said I would have the quote either that evening or first thing the next morning. 3 days later, I still had not received anything so I contacted Copher again looking for my not-to-exceed estimate and they sent it over a few hours later. The estimate stated that we had roughly 2100 lbs of belongings and the price for loading, transportation, and unloading would be $3,630.00 (plus an additional $200 for insurance with a $0 deductible). I thought it was a little high but I saw the value in not having to load up, drive, and unload a truck myself so 6 days after receiving the quote I returned it signed. A few hours after receiving my signed agreement, Jaime Copher emailed me to let me know that there had been a "mistake" in their computer system and that we actually had roughly 4,400 lbs of belongings and the actual price would be $5,369.42. Woahhh, wait a minute! How did the weight of my belongings all of a sudden more than double and I am being charged $1,739.42 more than my original estimate that was supposed to be NOT TO EXCEED and that I had already agreed to?! I expressed my frustration to Jaime and said that I thought it would only be right for them to honor the original estimate seeing as I had already agreed to that price. They refused to honor the original price and said there was nothing they could or would do about it. I then reached out to Wheaton Van Lines to see if they would be willing to help since Copher Movers was one of their Agents. I spoke with Todd Emerick, a Director at Wheaton and he said that he understood my concerns and asked that I give him some time to make a few calls and see what happened. I agreed and was thankful that it finally sounded like someone would be willing to help. Todd called back a few hours later and said that he was agreeing with Copher and that they would not be honoring the price. What?!?! He said that he thought it was fair that Ed Copher had agreed to "eat" nearly $500 of the revised price (Nobody ever offered that to me) and said there was nothing he could do. These guys have horrible customer service and the fact that they refuse to honor a CONTRACT is absurd. I would strongly encourage you to look elsewhere for your moving needs. warning,, horrible , terrible , overpriced ,most unprofessional , rude,,careless. so called movers which is hard to classify them in that category. .they made a stressful time for me even worse. they are very slow .and they are not even careful with your belongings. they bring a smaller truck , even when they know how much is needed to move. then they charge you even more because they need to come back to finish . they stood around half the time talking to one another . they dropped boxes and just said oops and all laughed.. when confronting them with any issues. they would just give you a weird look and ,seem annoyed . totally disgusted with this ordeal. made the biggest mistake to go with this place. stay away ..unless you want to be ripped off and disgusted.. read more

I chose Copher's to do a cross country move for my family from Illinois to Las Vegas. The crew that arrived from Wheaton was amazing. They worked hard, taking almost no breaks. They blanket wrapped all of our furniture and it all arrived in perfect condition. We mistakenly packed many of our things in plastic bins (don't do it if you can avoid it!). Given how poorly they hold up, we only lost one small picture frame, which I consider a real success. They took great care while packing and unloading out in Vegas. One of the crew from Chicago was also in Vegas, which helped a ton. He knew exactly what was where on the truck so we could pull things out in an order that made sense. They even helped get our massive refrigerator through the door and reassembled. The whole experience was great. To top it all off, Ed Copher showed up at my home in Illinois just to make sure the pack and load went well. They give world class service, which isn't always the case when moving. I don't even know if they are in business anymore....and it wouldn't surprise me. This review is long overdue. We hired them in 1993 and it was a beautiful thing, well oiled machine, young guys were very young yet very professional, strong and made it all look easy. A sight to behold. Moved us from a 3rd. floor walk-up condo to a 2-story house with a basement and distant unattached 4-car garage. Sooooo worth the expense!!! In 2007 we hired them again going from the 2-story house to a 3-story walk-up townhouse. HORRIBLE!!! Three guys show up, 45 minutes late. I swear 2 of them were from 1993, older, fatter and crude. The other guy appeared to be the supervisor and he looked like a hippie and he did little lifting, mostly pointing and coordinating the other two. They seemed to resent it. Those 2 did nothing but complain loudly about how heavy everything was and how the 3-story townhouse was just too much! Like, what was I thinking hiring a human being to do such a job?! I even said at one point that we hired it out because we couldn't do it ourselves! At some point one of them put a piece of wood to serve as a makeshift ramp to go from my bottom townhouse patio entrance into the first floor. Seemed to help them. But the whining continued. After they left we noticed they left the makeshift ramp. We grabbed it and put it aside. Began to put our house together and became aware that the hidden middle shelf of our dining room hutch was missing. OMG!......THAT was the ramp!!! We called and spoke to the (Boss?). Told him the whole story including the 2 guys crying that our stuff was f-ing heavy. He said, did they really say that? YES! Then he says one of the guys is retiring the next week and the other is going into his warehouse. NO kidding?!! Nothing regarding our shelf. We didn't ask, but we think they should have rebated us a fair, at least small, portion of our bill. Didn't happen. read more

We just had the worst moving experience with Copher Movers! We called them to ask about their cost and Chuck, the owner told us that it cost $138 per hour for 3 guys and there is two hours minimum. We asked if there are any other charges like driving cost and he said absolutely not as they are just couple of miles away from the place where we were moving in. 3 guys arrived at 9.45am and they were done by 11.05am, and when it came to bill they said there is a 3 hours minimum at $138 per hour and additional driving charge of $138. Which is pretty much double the quote we got. We told the guys that there is some kind of misunderstanding and called Chuck who denied everything. Companies like that should not be in business because he pretty much lied about the price to get our business and then overcharged us. As far as service, 3 guys moving slowly, wasting time on their cell phones, carrying one piece of luggage at a time. At some point I started helping them because I wanted the service for two hours which was supposed to be the minimum. I put myself 3 luggages on a cart and asked if one of the guys can take it and he looked at me as if I was crazy. They were definitely wasting time and I had to help because they would never finish. Anyway, I just want you to be aware of the owner of this company lying about prices over the phone to get your service. The guys will arrive at you place and make you sign paper so that they can start working and then price will double! The owner will deny previously given price! If you must use them, request something in writing before they even start the job! read more
