    Irish breakfast

My favorite breakfast in all my Euro trip. The black pudding was alright but the white pudding was absolutely delicious. Perfectly cooked eggs, fast service, great coffee, comfortable space. No negatives!

    Full Irish breakfast yummy!

Did someone say full Irish breakfast? Yes please. My friend and I enjoyed this breakfast so much. It hit the spot! Food was fresh, well seasoned, great portion sizes. Cute decor and great customer service. They have other items on the menu but you can't go wrong with the full Irish breakfast. It was delicious and I'll definitely come back here if I'm back in Dublin.

Best fish & chips I ever ever had

Absolutely wonderful food matched by the beyond lovely staff. We had four delicious meals since we were staying at the attached Harding Hotel. Great friendly atmosphere, well lit dining area with beautiful stained glass and conveniently located across from Christ's Church. All the staff were so friendly, personable and extra sweet to my mom. They really made us feel welcome on our first night in Dublin. Dining as a family of five we each ordered a variety of food and shared amongst ourselves. Enjoyed were the full Irish and vegetarian breakfasts, beef Guinness stew (very rich), Irish smoked salmon with eggs, their signature omelette, homemade seafood chowder (perfection), brioche french toast, brown bread with butter, Irish soda bread (addictive), Korean chicken wings, and a variety of beers and cocktails. The stand out star by far was the fish & chips--large pieces, light & airy breading, no excess oil. Really the best I've ever eaten. I would say that the portions served of everything was very generous, so bring your appetite.

We had breakfast here & the food was fantastic! I had the french toast & my husband had eggs, bacon, tomato, & mushrooms. Everything was delicious & the staff was so friendly!

We had a great lunch here on a rainy afternoon. I had the seafood chowder and it was wonderful. It featured a huge portion of mussels along with salmon, prawns, and other fish (I think maybe haddock). Everything was flavorful and fresh and the broth was excellent. The chowder came with fresh bread and butter. This plus a pot of tea was a great way to warm up before heading back out for more sightseeing. Others in my group had the stew and fish and chips; they greatly enjoyed their meals as well. Service was excellent and the atmosphere was relaxed with lovely decor.

Popped in for a bite to eat. The resultant was clean, the staff was pleasant and very attentive. I was seated right away. I had the beef stew and I was absolutely delicious!! The chocolate eclair was just ok but the ice cream that came with is was amazing.

Darkey Kelly's wouldn't seat is with a child so they sent us next door and we were not disappointed. For our first real meal in Ireland this set a great tone! Everything was amazing, especially the desert. The portions were huge and the service was great.

Tucked down Dame Court just off Dame Street, The Stag's Head is one of those rare pubs that feels genuinely historic rather than designed to look old. The building dates to the late 1800s, and the interior retains the ornate features of a classic Victorian "gin palace"--rich carved wood, stained glass, brass rails, and a warm, glowing bar that feels wonderfully preserved. We stopped in around 4:30 pm, which turned out to be a perfect time to visit. There were other patrons enjoying drinks and food, but the atmosphere was calm and relaxed rather than loud or rowdy. It felt like the kind of place where locals drop in for a quiet pint on their way home from work before the evening crowd arrives. The staff were excellent--friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. The food was very good (we failed to take photos because we were too busy enjoying it). As a vegetarian, I was thrilled to see the Impossible burger front and center on their menu; it was deliciously prepared with guacamole on a brioche bun, and not an afterthought on the menu. My companions both chose the Irish Beef Burger, and said it was excellent. One thing to know: this is a traditional Victorian pub, so cocktails aren't really part of the program. Expect beer, wine, or spirits rather than mixed drinks. In a place like this, that actually feels exactly right. Other pubs do serve mixed drinks. Between the history, the ambience, the quality of the food, and the wonderful staff, The Stag's Head is the kind of place that makes you feel like you've experienced a real piece of Dublin.

Menu has a good selection of Irish dishes from seafood chowder up to lamb stew and pies. We ordered the potato soup, seafood chowder, 'banjo' burger with onion rings. The soups arrived first and the seafood chowder was loaded with huge pieces of fish, potatoes (not many) with a creamy rich base. Flavor was incredible and in itself a full meal. Served in a large crock style bowl. The potato soup was minus any whole potatoes. It was a rich creamy base with plenty of flavor and very hearty. The burger was really a double cheeseburger with plenty of cheese, grilled onions, what appeared to be a mayonnaise based sauce on a soft hamburger roll. Really tall enough that it was tough getting your mouth around it. Very well seasoned burgers and the onions were a nice touch. The onion rings were huge and had a very light batter on them. They served in a metal bowl to keep them hot. For dessert the apple crumble was ordered which was served in a large dish with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. This could have been warmer but still was good.. The 5 star rating is for the chowder as it outshone the rest of the meal although the burger was definitely a close second. Definitely will return to try other dishes when we come back to the city.

The meat and veggies were plentiful, the portion generous, and it was tasty enough but maybe on the bland side? It was served with a side of braised red cabbage which we really liked: sweet but not sour like pickled cabbage. And house-made brown stout bread, also very good. The wife had a Guinness and I, thinking it too cliché to order Guinness as a tourist in Ireland, tried a different stout whose name I've forgotten from the ample selection. But comparing the two, so much better! The menu offers a wide variety of traditional Irish dishes, more than most of the similar pubs in the area. As well as the other expected pub type food: sandwiches, burgers, etc. As for desserts, if we were hungrier, the wife might have ordered the Irish Whiskey Bread & Butter Pudding. The hubby would probably get his dessert later, as the selection was limited and neither that nor the Apple Crumble appealed. Sitting at the bar we had a more personalized experience than were we at a table. The bartender offered to take a photo of me behind the bar which I of course accepted. We made the right choice in coming here.

Our first meal in Dublin was at The Old Mill Restaurant, right in the heart of Temple Bar. It's been serving traditional Irish fare since the 1980s and has become a favorite stop for both locals and visitors looking for classic comfort food. After about a 20-minute wait, we were seated in the warm, inviting dining room. Susan ordered the mussels, one of her favorites, while I went with the Traditional Irish Stew and my daughter chose the Braised Beef & Guinness Stew. Both were exactly what we hoped for: hearty, flavorful, and perfect after a day of sightseeing. I finally understood why the Guinness stew had such a rich, dark color, and I have to admit, I came home a big fan of Irish stew. We finished with the Homemade Bread & Butter Pudding topped with fresh cream and custard, a comforting dessert that was the perfect ending to the meal. Service, atmosphere, value, and food were all five out of five. We also enjoyed chatting with the floor manager, whose pride in the restaurant and his team was obvious. That kind of hospitality made a great meal even more memorable.

Daughter got the creamy vegetable soup and chips. She loved it but couldn't even finish half. All the portions were very generous, nobody finished their meal, too bad we couldn't have taken it back to our hotel. Server was great & funny. Love this place.
