Excellent service. Every single employee was incredibly friendly. Following all Covid guidelines and protocol. Delicious drinks - our table had margaritas, sangria and beer all of which were delicious. And most notably, the food is INCREDIBLE. Everything we got was fantastic. Pictured here is the Catch of the Day which was grouper with mexican grits and red mole. I ate every bite. Make sure you get a dish with the mole, it is the best I've ever had. Pretty incredible service. The vibe, and food is solid. If you are vegetarian there are plenty of options. The people ard kind and welcoming, a refreshing vibe juxtaposed against the rest of our trip. The owner was texting my husband about our 8:30 reservations for weeks until we got there at 8:55 because we couldn't get taxis on the island (they close at 9, so it was kind of them to let us dine there, and reserve your car rentals way in advance). A lovely European woman woman and her husband run this joint- and it's run damn well. Try the hot sauces (15 is FIRE!) Get dessert. You won't be disappointed. read more

We ate at a couple restaurants on Vieques that had decent reviews, but were disappointed with the food. Some lacked taste and others were too salty. Many of the best rated places are closed earlier in the week. This place was an awesome surprise after the other meals. We are a bit of a foody family and have had our share of Mexican, and this place had some of the best Mexican we've ever had, from the enchiladas to the burritos to the grouper special and creme brule. The hostess (owner?) and server were very friendly, accommodating, and attentive. It had a nice atmosphere, with a hybrid indoor/outdoor setup. read more

If your staying at the W this place is just down the street 6 miles away. We drove but finding parking on the street was tuff. Food was amazing! The Mrs. got the churrasco I got the Carnitas. Both were very well executed. Drinks We both started with the medium heat margaritas courtesy of Margret! Her Mohawk certain atl you added a little spice and her 18 year knowledge of the island was spot on. Medium heat was enough to switch to beer for dinner. Make sure you make a reservation as there are a hand full of tables. We sat at the bar since there was a party of 15 coming. We sat at the bar which was excellent. Amazing! Sat at the bar and I know it's weird but they had the most delicious ice water I've ever had in my life. Was it the heat? Was it the hot sauce? Was it just the water? I don't know but I want more. Margaritas were fabulous. Wanted to drink them all but I'm not at that stage of my life where I can. Food was incredible-appetizers, mains and you have GOT to stay for dessert. Chef even came out to say hi to regulars and stopped by to make sure our food was hitting right. The hostess was also fabulous and made sure we had everything we needed. Made sure to grab some sauce to take home and am almost out even though I was there in April. As a sign designer, I hesitated when I saw the place... but this turned out to be a beautiful "don't judge a book by the cover" situation. The Coqui Fire Margarita was perfect, I requested a medium heat level and then had them turn it up a notch on the second one which was absolute perfection. The queso fundido con chorizo starter was delicious, with the perfect ratio of (what I assume was) house made chips. I have no idea how we got lucky enough to have Ahi Tuna as the "catch of the day" and a filet mignon as a special but it happened... and it was the best meal of the trip and the best meal in long (think Covid NYC) time. If we stayed longer we would definitely come back again. Hands down the most flavorful meal we had on the island. We ordered: -Tacos al pastor: our favorite with salsa verde. Amazing. -queso fundido con chorizo: the chorizo with fresh fried chips was very unique and had a smokey taste to it we haven't had anywhere. -Shrimp tostada: the shrimp itself was blackened in spices that fused well with everything else in the dish. The cheese in the dish is a compliment to the flavors. -Ceviche: interesting. Never have had ceviche with capers -Carnitas: so soft. The favors are earthy, smokey, spicy, and sweet altogether. This place specializes in their hot sauce hand made by the chefs wife. She was sweet and so charming. There are 10 levels of hot sauce all of various flavors and they get pretty hot! You can buy them at local stores, gift shops, and online. We are definitely taking some back with us. Service was wonderful. The waitress, chef, and his wife were all so friendly. read more

Best restaurant on the island! After a long day of beach hopping my husband and I were tired and so hungry. Margaret at the bar had great recommendations and made us some amazing drinks. We got the cuban tacos to start and then shared a steak burrito. We had both with the Mango Garlic hot sauce which is a level 5. Just enough spice and oh so flavorful! This is a great find!! Great variety of Mexican food and I hear wonderful cheesecake. They have 15 levels of hot sauces all made in house. This place is amazing and the safest place to find something gluten free in all of Puerto Rico. Owner has Celiac and her husband runs the kitchen. Most of what the have is naturally gluten free, very aware of cross contamination. I spent 6 months in Puerto Rico and this was by far the safest restaurant and best place to eat. Friday night is date night and they have a new menu each time. Always something you can eat. If you would like to make sure you can eat dessert, call a day or two ahead and they will prepare their speciality cheesecake without a crust. They were wonderful people and a great friendly staff. We were here 3 times in 2 days. I highly recommend this place. read more

Wow!!!!!! This was AMAZING! I had the blackened shrimp which came on a bed of Mexican grits and coconut móle. I have no idea how they built up this molé to have such a great coconut flavor but it was out of this world!! It left me wanting more! We then tried the cheesecake special which was a guava chipotle cheesecake. Sounds weird but it was soooo good! The chipotle was so subtle but paired to well with the guava. The best food on Vieques hands down. The pork shoulder falls apart, hot sauces are amazing, and the tacos are all the best tacos I've had in my life (in terms of quality). Lastly, the cheesecake. You have to go for the cheesecake. Don't forget the cheescake. Only thing is that this part of Vieques felt a little different than the rest; less touristy, did not feel as safe as Esperanza, but perhaps that because I'm a shoobie. read more

The most charming crew. Very welcoming both on the phone and in person. They had fantastic cocktails too. We had the queso fundido which was unreal. It was so flavorful. The seared tuna taco was another starter and it was fresh and done perfectly. For mains we had blackened shrimp over creamy polenta and a molé sauce to die for. This place is legit. The spicy margaritas are amazing, start with that. Oh my god was the food good. We had the chorizo queso fundindo which was out of this world, then the big kahuna burrito which was amazing and finished with a chocolate dessert that was incredible. They make their own hot sauces (11 of them i think) and they are fire- pun intended. Not for the faint of heart, my husband got to the almost the hottest but I stopped at number 7. That's all i could take. The service was excellent, the chef came to our table and greeted us. He and his wife are the owners and some of the nicest people we met on the island. If i could i would transport this restaurant to Miami and eat here everyday. This is a can't miss spot while you are in Vieuqes. The black mole served with the chicken enchiladas transported me to Oaxaca. So complex, nutty, perfectly balanced but also unfussy-- like the cafe itself. Authentic food with so much attention to detail, standout housemade hot sauces and salsas, friendly and genuine service -- even though we were clearly tourists. The hot sauce lineup is incredible-- to have that variety prepared in-house shows what Coqui Fire is about. Drinks also exceeded expectations and were way more reasonably priced than the bars in Esperanza. My boyfriend had the carnitas and it was tender, tasty and flavorful. This place is just no sh*t delicious food with no pretense, which is really hard to do, and I wish we had eaten here every night of our trip to Vieques-- don't miss it. read more

The food was delicious meal. The service was perfect. The food portions where very appropriate. The owner who is also the cheif came to check on every table. That show he cares about his product. This like most places on the island are outdoor eating only. One thing people do have to remember is you are in Vieques. And nothing is cheap and nothing comes easy.
