The view of from the infinity edge looking out to the ocean can't be beat. I did have lunch at their pool side restaurant which the special of the day was poke and it was delicious. Service was also friendly and prompt. As I was there on a day pass they held my passport u til I returned the key card to access the gym/locker room and the two towel cards. I really enjoyed they have a lending library and I got to pickup a book while there. In usual fashion, pool chairs were reserved as soon as the day starts which made it harder to find a prime seat. They also had a competition at the pool area that was entertaining to watch. Restrooms could have been better marked for directions as I wondered we around for a hot minute to find the ones labeled on the maps. Maybe it was just me? Overall great day at the property and I'll stay here next time to get the full experience.

We arrived late and asked for bottled water, and were told to just drink the sink water... in Mexico. That alone set the tone. I also repeatedly emailed our concierge for assistance and received no response whatsoever. Our room smelled like mold, and the sheets were damp. Housekeeping replaced them, but the odor and overall condition never improved. Not what you expect at this level. Then it got worse. We had two rooms, one at this hotel and one at a neighboring hotel where a large group of our family was staying. That other hotel requires wristbands, which we had, so security here assumed we didn't belong, even though we had rooms at this property. At the pool, they approached us publicly and repeatedly questioned us, over and over, in front of everyone. No attempt to verify privately, no discretion, just standing over us and making a scene. It was humiliating. Then it happened again. While checking out, we crossed back onto this property to retrieve our luggage that they were holding. Security stopped us again and treated us like we were doing something wrong, only to confirm, once again, that we were legitimate guests. Two separate incidents. Same behavior. The level of aggression and lack of professionalism from security is completely out of control. This is not how paying guests should ever be treated. This wasn't just a misunderstanding, it was a failure in how guests are handled, and it happened more than once. We will never stay here again.

A whole lot of AWESOME packed into a small footprint!…read more All in all a great experience. The desk crew was friendly and efficient. We had a corner suite in the altitude tower and it was wonderful with a large balcony and wrap around windows. The room was very nice, spacious and clean. Bed and chairs were very comfortable, shower had great pressure. The resort had a huge beach next to the breakwater, so the ocean is a bit calmer in that corner. Plenty of space to lounge around all day, do it, really! The resort has several pools, my favorite was the infinity pool over the beach, very relaxing. All the pools and beach had guys taking drink orders, loved it. As for food several great options. The breakfast buffet at the O restaurant had a huge spread, no matter what you were in the mood for you were covered. For lunch the grill place over the main pool is the place to be, Everything we had there was delicious. Try the passion fruit cevicha, heaven on a plate. For dinner the Asian fusion restaurant has a great hibachi, the chef was possibly the best I have seen yet, very skilled and entertaining. The food was well seasoned if not a bit salty, but very good. The resort packed a lot into a relatively small footprint, well maintained and taken care of. I highly recommend it.

After mid weekend it took an average 15 minutes to get to the lobby! I'm not a big lover of buffets so I wasn't thrilled that the main restaurant always had 1. Others you would have to make a reservation. We made a reservation at Ayambi (spell check) restaurant for habachi. Why'd we get seated at a regular table? Not where they actually grill the food. They don't use straws at all. I know..let's save the turtles but what about cardboard straws? I watch how they washed cups at the bar.. Literally in soap water & back on the shelf..no heat..no sterilization..I bought my own cup to use. There really isn't entertainment. I was there a total 4 days& there was a live music band 1 night & not too flattering. My girls & I brought our own speaker for music when lounging at the pool, cabana, etc.. Positives I loved the set up & the fact that's it's on the beach. The best part is location. It was literally a 5-7 minute walk to the strip where the clubs, shopping, and action is. The spa is pricey but the sauna was awesome! I had room credit but in town are cheaper massages. Once I finally realized all the restaurant choices, i was a happy fat gal. There's food& drinks provided to you on the beach, by the poolside .. Really anywhere. There's soda & water in your room refrigerator & room service for late night hunger. The Cabanas on the beach made me feel like it was VIP service. Make sure you go to Chedraui supermarket. The liquor is mad cheap!

DATED FACILITY BUT BEAUTIFUL BEACH!…read more I will start by saying I've stayed at this resort once before 15 years ago and at that time it was amazing, 15 years later and it feels very dated and there are upgrades needed in the rooms. There are so many wonderful places to choose from in Cancun, they really need to step up to compete. This resort caters to members. If you are not a timeshare member but a regular guest who booked through something like Expedia as I did you will not get the same experience. They purposely make it difficult to get a reservation at the restaurants leaving the buffet as the only option. They cater to members and you can only get a guaranteed dinner reservation if you attend their timeshare presentation. I will say that after we complained to Expedia the staff was very quick to rectify this and give us access to reservations at the 2 other dinner options. Cons: - Depending on where they put you, you may have to change rooms mid way through your stay which is very inconvenient. Every Saturday they have members that come in and if you are in a member room you must move out and into a different room. This was unexpected and very different from how most resort/hotel stays work - The buffet dinner is not good, there are limited selections of bland food. For this to be the main dinner option they need to give more options and change the food regularly. They should add hand sanitizer stations and encourage people to use the tongs provided, I witnessed a few visitors using their bare hands to get items from the buffet. - They gave us a drink menu, we ordered and it turns out that drink is not included in the all inclusive. They need to clarify this and not offer items that are not included. When the majority of people are here for all inclusive they are not expecting additional charges for items that are offered. - Drinks are HEAVILY watered down, I've been to many all inclusive places and have never had drinks this bad - The toilets are extremely low so caution to those with mobility limitations. - There were no hangars in our first room. Even the most basic hotel provides hangers! The second room we were switched to had hangers but had no fan in the bathroom. This is causing mildew buildup which you can see in the photos. Again there are many updates needed in the rooms Pros: - One thing I really appreciated was the cleanliness of the whole resort. Besides the mildew in the second room, everything was spotless and they work hard to keep things clean - The staff was very friendly and welcoming. - They have a convince store that has all you need and even groceries. - The 2 specialty restaurants are the only place to get good food and the staff was amazing. We really appreciated the warm welcome and amazing service by German at the Hacienda Sisal and Orlando at the Club Bistro! They both really made sure we had a good time and gave great recommendations on the meals. These were the only places to get good food and both German and Orlando were so hospitable that we went to each restaurant twice. If not for them we would have had to go outside the resort for dinner which is crazy when it's all inclusive. - THE BEACH! This is a beautiful beach location and I believe it's the only thing that keeps people coming back as we met a few other travelers who have been returning to this location for decades

Truly Felt Like Family -- An Unforgettable Stay at Hyatt Ziva Cancun…read more Where do I even begin? we traveled here for my birthday and from the very first moment we arrived at Hyatt Ziva Cancun, we were welcomed with such genuine warmth and kindness. The staff immediately made us feel at home, and that feeling continued throughout our entire stay. The resort itself is absolutely beautiful--spotless, incredibly clean, and very well maintained. The service was exceptional. A huge compliment to the management team for combining the high standards you expect from a Hyatt resort with the warmth, friendliness, and genuine hospitality of Mexico. That combination made our experience truly special. And the food! We tried every restaurant during our stay, and honestly, the food was fantastic everywhere. If I had to choose a favorite, it would be the French restaurant, but we enjoyed every place we tried. The rooms were beautiful, extremely clean, and had amazing views. I was especially impressed that our room was serviced twice a day. There were also plenty of activities throughout the resort, and we had so much fun participating in them. But what really made this trip unforgettable were the people. A very special thank you to Leila Guirin, Diana, Virgilio Castillo, Odalys, Angelica, Alejandro, Roman, Diego, Jazer, Natasha, and especially the amazing Edgar, who seems to wear many hats! Edgar was not only a fantastic entertainer but became someone we truly considered a friend. These are just some of the names I remember. Unfortunately, I lost the list I had written because there were so many other wonderful people I wanted to recognize. But I can sincerely say that every single person we encountered was friendly, respectful, helpful, and genuinely kind. Now I understand why Hyatt Ziva Cancun refers to its guests as "family." It isn't just something they say in their messages or emails--they actually make you feel that way. We weren't treated simply as hotel guests; we were treated like welcomed friends and loved ones. That genuine Mexican hospitality, friendship, and warmth is something I will remember long after the vacation itself. Thank you to the entire Hyatt Ziva Cancun family for giving us one of the best resort experiences we have ever had. You made our stay phenomenal and truly unforgettable. We arrived as guests, but we left feeling like family. I cannot recommend Hyatt Ziva Cancun enough, and I sincerely hope we have the opportunity to return!

We spent a week at Hyatt Ziva Cancun celebrating my MIL's retirement with a group of 16.5…read morepeople--the .5 being our 8-month-old . We had an AMAZING vacation, but separating how much fun we had as a group from the resort itself, the resort was just okay for us. CHECK-IN/ROOM: Check-in was mostly smooth, although as UVC members they "upgraded" us from the ocean-view room I specifically chose to ocean front without asking. I care literally not at all about scenic views , so I would've preferred what I booked. The $12 bracelet room keys were convenient WHEN they worked. More than half our group had issues with bracelets/cards needing resets. Our Pyramid room was quiet and comfortable but dated. Our biggest issue was the crib. Despite requesting it before arrival and multiple times after check-in, it took hours. Eventually our concierge discovered it kept being sent to our originally booked room instead of our "upgraded" room. PROPERTY: Convenient layout, nice pools and beautiful water. Generally stroller-friendly, although elevators occasionally wouldn't go to our floor, leaving us carrying a baby AND stroller down stairs. FOOD: Our biggest disappointment--maybe 4/10. My family is full of foodies, and most things weren't bad quality, just bland and under-seasoned. La Bastille and Chevy's were our favorites, with Tradewinds' chimichurri getting an honorable mention. Dinner service was DREADFULLY slow. Two-hour dinners were common even with only 2-3 people. On the positive side, we rarely waited long to be seated, and Carla from Lorenzo's was wonderful helping accommodate our large group. Room service was fine, but dirty trays and half-eaten food constantly sitting in hallways and attracting animals wasn't my favorite. DRINKS: We had some professional drinkers , and overall drinks were good. Ariel and Guillermo at the swim-up bar were fantastic--funny, attentive and personable. They remembered us AND Cooper's little non-alcoholic drink order. Ariel even made us a shot that took literally 10 minutes and it was SO good. CABANA 5: Possibly the BEST decision of the trip. We rented it for six days. It's across from the swim-up bar but far enough away to avoid the crowd. The tanning pad was perfect for Cooper to "walk" through the water and for our floating card table/drinking games. With 16.5 people, the cabana became our home base and genuinely made the trip easier. Immanuel and Angel were our butlers. Immanuel was sweet but sometimes disappeared for long periods. Angel was AMAZING--fast, attentive and so sweet. They brought food/drinks and even grabbed food from the nearby Asian food truck. We had an issue with the included cabana facials and an employee repeatedly trying to determine who could use ours and when. Carlos, a manager, handled it wonderfully once we brought it to his attention, and Hugo was great about working around Cooper's naps. BABY: Traveling with our 8-month-old was easier than expected! Every restaurant had high chairs and usually something soft enough for him. Walkways were mostly stroller-accessible and many were shaded. Staff were SO sweet with him. We brought a sleep pod over his crib for naps, which I highly recommend if your baby needs darkness. SPA: Most of our group used it and everyone enjoyed it. My husband and I did 50-minute massages and the fish pedicure and loved both, plus the spa facilities. CLUB LEVEL: Included through UVC, so of course worth it for us . If paying substantially extra? Probably not. We enjoyed playing pool there at night, upgraded liquor and extra food options, but I personally wouldn't pay a large premium. ENTERTAINMENT: We planned most of our own activities, but played 11 a.m. volleyball religiously and OSCAR IS THE BEST! Hilarious, personable and SO much fun. Anything he was involved with around the pool seemed like a good time. SALES PRESENTATIONS: A few non-members were offered Leisure Cash for what they were told was approximately a 50-minute presentation. FOUR HOURS LATER, they were still there. If you attend one, do NOT make plans based on the quoted time. That huge difference left a bad taste in our mouths. WOULD WE RETURN? Honestly, probably not. That doesn't mean we had a bad vacation--we had an AMAZING time. But that had more to do with our group, the memories and some wonderful staff than the resort itself. There wasn't one catastrophic problem; it was an accumulation of dated areas, key/elevator issues, mediocre food, slow dinners, the crib mix-up and sales experience. For roughly the same price--or sometimes a little more--I think other resorts offer more, are newer/better maintained and have better food. Hyatt Ziva Cancun isn't a bad resort, and I can see why some families love it. It just wasn't the right resort for us to want to return to.

Maybe this can help someone find an updated, spacious & conveniently located family home that actually does have ocean views and is 4 steps away from the sand. My husband, myself & our 5 adult children and their partners were all very comfortable here. Our unit had a very large kitchen with everything one needs to cook. The many bedrooms were all spacious with ample closet room and dressers, TVs, too. The family room and dining room on first floor had direct beach access. The top balconies had impeccable ocean views with patio tables & seating. It's location was wonderful. A 5 minute walk to shopping, restaurants & also a movie theater. That in addition to the many vendors along the coast made us want for nothing. If you're looking to stay here, look closely at the details of your listing & ask the right questions. Only a few units can be along the sand; the rest are obviously behind those units & are probably lacking the views everyone wants on their vacation. ASK, ASK, ASK.
