Fancy resort not for regular but for corporate events. Expensive and not very clear with their rules. It was free aka company sponsored so I cant complain. Rooms were huge, bathroom was huge, balcony to the bay/sea or jungle. You must take a golf cart to get to the main areas but there are plenty with the drivers. Mosquitos where eating us alive when we went. They sprayed but that's nature.. Food was delicious and while we wanted to try all the restaurants, we were told we could not, then we could but then we could not.. The rumor is that it used to be the presidential home in Cancun. Kosher for those that need that. 100% of the crew members were very polite and accommodating. read more

We specifically enjoyed the modern architecture, the really nice and spacious rooms and the cuisine altogether. There is no doubt this hotel is beautiful. From the moment you enter it strikes as a very exclusive designer resort. Rooms are huge and very comfortable. Bedding and linens are one of bests I've ever had. Bathroom and shower just amazing. There are nice toiletries and unlimited supply of Fiji water. The hotel is pristinely clean and everything looks newly polished. Very impressive amenities. Unfortunately that is where my compliments end. We had a room on the bottom floor facing the jungle as it was the only one left with double beds. It was so dark in the room that we needed to have light on at all times. The jungle was a breeding ground for mosquitos. Which is to be expected in tropics so no complains there. Would definitely recommend ocean view. The service was extremely condescending. From the moment we checked in, always felt as though we were not good enough. Although the guys who drive the golf carts are extremely sweet. It's more of front desk staff that were rude. If you want to sit at the beach, good luck! People wake up at 6 in the morning to reserve an unlimited amount of beds. No matter how early we came, we could never get beds together, if at all. There is an adult beach, but it was equally as packed. The beach was also not what one would expect to find in Cancun. It's on the bay side and doesn't offer that gorgeous blue water you get on the rest of the strip. Food, where do I begin?! Overpriced yes, which would have been ok if it was actually good! Except it's not. $10 for a bottle of sparkling water at the beach. At breakfast, unless you opt for a buffet, expect to wait a ridiculous amount of time for food. Over one hour for toast! Another example is the dinner we had for NYE at La Romana restaurant. We paid $1850 for 7 adults and 1 kid for food which I can only describe as inedible at times. We informed our waiters and asked to speak to the chef, this was not granted. Only to be charged for the meal twice and having wasted an hour trying to reconcile with front desk. I will say that upon speaking to the food and service manager the next day, they did refund the food portion of our bill which was nice. Overall, I would absolutely not recommend Nizuc to anyone. It's just not worth it. And I really do hope the management reads some of the more realistic reviews and addresses the issues. read more

Shout out to our Spa host Jennifer who walked us through the whole experience and was so attentive to our needs! The cold/hot therapeutic stages before our massages was exactly what we needed, after a first night of alcoholic debauchery the night before. Seriously, we rolled out the plane and into an epic, albeit, hazy night of partying! What happens in Cancun, stays in Cancun for sure!!! Jeanette was a wonderful massage therapist, and had the skills to put my body in a deep state of relaxation and my mind in a semi-coma! She customized the essential oils she used to my preference and was very attuned to what my body needed. Nizuc is the opposite of all of that in the best way. Luxurious, serene, high end, private, and the perfect get away. The pool is gorgeous - they bring fresh fruit, ice cream, and other goodies poolside all the time. Ordering lunch by the pool is a must. Rooms are big with gorgeous views. Sunsets are to die for. The breakfast is a WOW. Unreal - I judge a hotel by how good their breakfast is, and this one is one of the best. The spa - A MUST. Such an easy trip from NYC that it's worth a repeat. Nizuc is the only resort in Cancun with a kosher kitchen serving 3 kosher meals per day. This beautiful, luxury property is the only place to stay if you are orthodox or conservative and maintain a kosher diet. This fact is well advertised and many from the Hasidic community enjoy the pristine beaches, beautiful pools, peaceful atmosphere, and excellent service. Regardless of which restaurant you choose, the kosher food is delivered from its own kitchen and properly sealed in tin foil or plastic. Each of the four onsite restaurants have a unique ambience and a non-kosher menu as well. If you are not kosher, you will be amazed at the large and impressive breakfast buffet. I have never experienced a better one. Understand that because Nizuc, alone, is catering to people with a kosher diet, the resort has a large number of orthodox and conservative guests. You might feel uncomfortable if you are strongly aligned with a different religion or you feel strongly against religion in general. You might be better to avoid the Friday evening meal in the resort restaurants, eat off site, or do room service. The servers are quite literally running back and forth from the kosher kitchen and service is slow. I would also warn against ordering (from any menu) dishes that are rarely ordered. Many people, who do not follow a kosher diet, still maintain some religious rules against eating shellfish and pork. The hairless pork and lobster dishes were both flavorless and over-cooked. We stayed in a junior suite with a plunge pool and it was a very nice room. We had a beautiful ocean view. The bed was comfortable, plenty of seating, and a very large TV. The walk to the spa or lobby was short, but the golf cart transport was speedy and efficient. Housekeeping was unpredictable, they arrived at different times each day, sometimes quite late (6:30pm), never replenished the toiletries (I had to seek out a housekeeper down the hall to get shampoo), and the turn down service was very hit or miss. We stayed 6 nights and had turn down service twice (which I don't care about anyway, but if you do, you might be disappointed). They advertise butler service, but we only saw the butler twice during our week. Again, this does not bother me, but if you depend on butler service, you might be disappointed. I also feel that for the price of the ocean front, junior suite more bottled water should be provided. The daily allotment was 2 small bottles of Fiji water next to the bathroom sink and one average sized bottle of generic water for the room Nespresso machine. This is not an all inclusive resort and extra water has a price. In my opinion, the best service overall was provided by the restaurant staff, poolside and beach staff, transport staff, and the Maritur DMC crew who provide the private excursions, I highly recommend the private excursions. I wouldn't stay here a second time. The Viceroy is nicer and more affordable, as are a few other luxury properties along the QR coast. This resort would be great if you are looking for a short stay because it is very near the airport, about a 15 min or less drive. read more

We tried Ni, for lunch and were not disappointed. The Peruvian dishes were delicious and service was lovely!! With views of the sea, what more can you ask for? Back to the resort... our room had a beach view and our balcony is so spacious,it even had a bed for sunbathing!! We had a couples massage/hydrotherapy spa session. The spa is beautifully appointed, a very zen like feel ( which is felt throughout the resort). The spa is definitely high - level with great services and facilities. We loved our treatments, and the staff was amazing! This resort is truly an experience for all the senses!! Highly recommend for any discerning traveler. read more

Though the NIZUC was fine - I had an issue with their credit card charges. After paying my final bill at checkout, they charged me an additional, and significant, amount. I called and wrote, though they couldn't explain why I was charged. I tried again - more of the same. I've read where this happened to other NIZUC guests. My advice is to be vigilant about their credit card charges. They won't respond otherwise. read more

This place is really a joke. I think the resort is beautiful and I thoroughly enjoyed staying here (still currently at the resort), however I scheduled a Mani pedi at the spa for the day of my arrival to get pampered before hitting the beach. The spa is horrible quality for an outrageous price. I definitely do not mind (and actually enjoy) paying a premium price for premium quality, but be assured you will not be getting a quality Mani pedi from this spa, but you will definitely pay at least $270 USD for your crappy nail job. At least you can enjoy champagne and chocolate while the severely untalented nail tech butchers your nails. My boyfriend and I took a trip to Mexico in December of 2023. He had booked a separate reservation from the 17-18th and I had a reservation from the 18th-20th at Nizuc Resort and Spa in Mexico. Upon check-in, we were sent to our room which was supposed to be ocean view and found that it was not that plus there was a swamp right at the bottom of view that had a terrible smell. The room also had several bugs addition to cold water in the shower. The next day, I woke up with a rash on my thigh after being bitten in my sheets. Therefore, we decided to check out of my boyfriend's reservation as planned and I requested a refund from the hotel based on the circumstances. Upon request, the manager offered us a different room to see if I wanted to check into that room instead. We walked to the room and found a similar bug situation in addition to cold water so I declined and decided to book another reservation at Waldorf Astoria for the same dates. Upon my return, I notified AmexTravel of my experience to which they said that Nizuc had categorized my stay as a no-show. Outside of the terrible experience, I was just disappointed by the fact that they felt entitled to charge me for a stay that was not honored due to the conditions of the room. My suggestion to anyone reading this review would be to visit the location before making a commitment to stay and to ensure that you review your bill in its entirety upon checkout due to the dishonesty I experienced. read more

Absolutely loved this place! Stayed here for a week and loved every minute of it. Pros: Service: they nailed it! Throughout the resort, everyone's really friendly and always greeting you. Food: Portions on the small side but delicious. All the restaurants are worth a try and the poolside/beach food were just as good (craving that ceviche as I type this). Drinks: Good selection (the tequila tasting in the cigar room is worth a try) Activities: Snorkeling, paddle boarding, jet ski and chilling Rooms: Excellent size with butler service. Room service was just as good as ordering from the restaurant. Cons: -Can't complain much. This hotel is a complete rip off. The grounds are beautiful but the service is sub par at best. The food and drinks were disappointing and majorly overpriced. The pool was over crowded with really trashy people, and the staff asked repeatedly for our room number when we were just laying by the pool. A staff member yelled at us for taking a complimentary water bottle at the gym when we finished our workout. They charge $100 for a covid test. This hotel was what you would expect from an all inclusive - completely frustrating to pay top dollar for something that is supposed to feel exclusive and completely missed the mark at every step. read more

Nizuc is Cancun's #1 resort hotel. Located near the airport at the south end of the beach about a mile away from the main hotel strip. You get sun all day because of where the hotel is located. It has a private white sand beach on a shallow bay that is perfect for snorkeling or SUP. Thank goodness it is not an all inclusive which makes Nizuc special. The service is 5-stars: hostesses, butler, bartenders, housekeeping, and management. All my expectations were met and often exceeded. Nizuc has a beautiful spa that offers massages and body treatments. Also, yoga classes are available and a gym is located at the spa. There are seven restaurants that offer different cuisines from Italian, Pan Asian, Mexican, Mediterranean, steak and seafood. During breakfast at Casa De La Playa you can order from the menu or indulge in it's extravagant buffet of world-wide cuisines. The food is incredibly delicious and made with quality ingredients. $500 a night for a room that received a whopping 1mbps internet speed, not enough to dial in to work calls. When the issue was raised, I was sent a representative to "make sure my device had WiFi." No legitimate troubleshooting or room switching. Add in penny-pinching for every possible service and a delightful $50 charge for basic steak tacos at the bar and you get my strongest recommendation to stay somewhere else. This hotel is absolutely incredible. The staff is WONDERFUL. They are so hands on and super nice and helping with whatever. My boyfriend and I both got super sick from a restaurant off resort and were super sick in bed for almost 2 days and all the staff was so helpful and kind. Would bring water, towels, ice to room whenever. The pool servers / staff were so helpful and kind. They were super hands on with whatever you needed. The beaches were cleaned and free of moss. The sand was racked so it's super soft and clean. The pools were clean and relaxing with enough space and chairs for a lot of people. The beach had free paddle boarding and kayaks. Jet ski rentals could be organized on resort at front as well. The food is also incredible. We went to Ramona the first night and the chef had 3 different complimentary appetizers for us to try that were delicious. Room service food was also very good and quick. The spa is also incredibly calming and beautiful. They had a steam room, sauna, ice/cold room, hot tub, and outdoor pool complimentary when you book any service. The ESPA Personalized Facial is super relaxing and hydrating. The esthetician also gives you book with what products she used which was super helpful. Overall, everything was so above and beyond. This is my 4th stay at this resort. We've been here just as a couple, twice with the full fam and once with our toddler. This is a zen, lux spa resort with exceptional service. Not all-inclusive, so there aren't a bunch of stumbling drunk people, which is a huge plus. Wonderful gym, delicious food, beautiful rooms, clean beach, heated swimming pools. If you are looking for the ultimate vacation experience, you need to look no further. Originally searching, I would have taken any resort with a private plunge pool access. There are many options in cancun with just that but none with the exceptional level of service, quality of delicious meal options including a steakhouse by the quiet tranquil adult pool and authentic Mexican restaurant with its very own Nizuc wine on the menu just to name 2. We wanted a quiet "away from the strip" experience that was romantic and private. Not only did Nizuc blow my expectations out of the water but we have already made plans to come back. This resort doesn't only have a top notch spa but a variety of room options as well from a simple King ocean front room to villas with your very own private pool for you and your family, or my personal favorite the penthouse with beautiful water views and a private plunge pool. The main pool is infinity style facing the resorts private beach featuring a swim up bar with amazing frozen coctail options made with real exotic juices and not the flavored syrup variety. On the way to the adult pool you will find several hidden little coves with lounge chair and umbrella set up for two. Incredibly romantic and private. The paddle boards and the kayaks are at no extra charge to enjoy. The Breakfast buffet spread at the cafe caters to the pickiest of eaters. The Main lobby bar is an absolute eye candy and so are it's signature cocktails list. I would seriously love to hug the person (s) who designed this resort. The attention to detail will leave your jaw on the floor from the lobby to the sand. Although the resort is massive, ladies you no need to worry about breaking in your heels because there is a golf cart coming through every 2 minutes taking you to wherever you wish within the grounds. Although the dress code through the day is resort casual, Slacks and closed toe shoes required for the gentleman during dinner hours. I highly recommend this resort if you are looking for the opposite of spring break feel. If you prefer fine wine and live music while still be able to have a conversation then Nizuc is for you. The food was good but small portions and expensive. Gorgeous pools but not enough chairs by the main pool. The ocean is a preserve so it's nice but not really swimmable. They nickel and dime you on everything except the snorkeling and paddle boarding, which was actually pretty cool. But no way no how is this place worth $400 a night. Also, the golf carts don't make up for hotel rooms being far from the pools, beach, etc. It's nice to be easy walking distance to those on a vacation. Good food, though. Most of these reviews on here must be fake. They lead you to believe that the hotel rooms are oceanfront, but most are residence that you can barely see the water from. They only have a few oceanfront rooms in the main lobby building. The rest of the rooms have a quarter mile of lagoon/swamps between them and the water. It's the 2nd to last resort on the peninsula, far away from any shopping/activities. So, you have to have a golf cart to get anywhere. Their beach is on the other side of the resort, opposite the rooms. Granted: Rooms are amazing. You better like them, because you can't walk to the beach from them. Let me start by saying we are Palace Elite members, so our experience here was all the more shocking and disappointing, upsetting, and frustrating. I wish I could give this resort more stars, but I just can't. In fact, if I could, I would give it negative stars. There have been issues since we arrived, beginning with arrangements not having been made for our transportation, which started out the trip stressed. Next, our room was not ready when we got there, and we had to wait until after 3:00pm to get our room. That was irritating enough, but then, despite the fact that we reserved a room with a KING bed, they tried to put us in a room with double bed. My husband is 6' 4", so that was not going to work. The straw that broke the camel's back? My son got sick from something in the resort, and was sick from it for several days. He had to go see the resort doctor, and to add insult to injury, despite the fact that his illness was caused on and by the resort, we were made to pay $90.00 to see the doctor, then overcharged $80.00 for an injection that did not even work. Another issue with the resort was that I purchased jewelry from the Fini store at the Grand, and THREE times I had to return to the same store, because once you left the bright lights of the store, you were able to see that stones were missing from the jewelry. The one bright light in all this? Samayra in Public Relations, and her co-workers. They really tried to fix things, but....... I can't recommend this resort, in any way, shape, or form. We stayed here for 3 nights, and the resort was absolutely phenomenal. Service is top notch from the front desk to the greeters to the bell hops to house-keeping to the people who cart you around. The restaurants are fantastic. We loved Ramona and Indochine. The views are absolutely fantastic, and the food is delicious. The breakfast buffet was also wonderful with varied and tasty selections. Our suite was perfect. We had awesome ocean views and that rain shower was an experience all on its own. The spa was exceptional. The hydrotherapy experience was fun and soothing. My aromatherapy massage was awesome. The massage therapist and the lady who takes you around the different hydrotherapy sections were great. Staff is very friendly and helpful. They're also very well-trained. They greet everyone by placing their hands over their hearts which was warm and endearing. I loved that. The resort is situated away from other hotels which gives it an exclusive, retreat-like feel. The adult pool is quiet and relaxing. The Havana lounge was a unique experience. We're not cigar smokers but we went for it and smoked some Cuban cigars. One of the reviews complained about the resort not being dog friendly. Honestly, I'm glad there were no dogs around. This is a high class experience and I don't want dogs at the restaurants or the pool area Yes, the resort is expensive, but it should be. You will never find this level of attention to detail at an all inclusive. This is a resort for more discerning travelers. They're also very friendly to same-sex couples which is great. This place is so stunning and the drive from the airport is so easy. Only about 15 minutes. If you are looking for something relaxing this is definitely the resort to be at. And the food was sooo good in all of the restaurants. Only small recommendation would be to their sushi in one of the restaurants, needed a little more spice, was very boring... but we have also gotten spoiled in LA with sushi. Ok, ok... I'll be honest. When I first checked in, I was ready to throw down the hammer and give this place a beating with a lone 1 star review. As the hours melted into days, it slowly started earning stars along the way. I hadn't expected to go all the way up to a perfect score based on my first afternoon/evening here. However, when it was time to check out, we admitted to ourselves that it was sad our time had come to an end, and wished we had booked another week. We came during the Thanksgiving holiday, trying to "get away from it all" in hopes of spending quality time with each other as a cute, little family as opposed to socializing with family members we see on a regular basis, just to engorge ourselves with a sleep-inducing meal. That was a great idea, and Nizuc was an excellent choice to make our dreams come into realization! I won't go into detail about all the wonderful things we came across, but I'll point out some of the things that stood out. Firstly, the staff is incredible. They go out of their way for your maximum comfort and enjoyment. From the calm and friendly tone of voice, to their sincere smiles--it's all there! Secondly, the property is so well maintained and kept, you'd be hard pressed to find a speck of debris on the premises. I constantly see someone sweeping or mopping the common areas. The FOOD is perfection!!! Especially at Indochine!!! We have been to quite a great deal of exceptional restaurants around the world, including Michelin-starred establishments, and I can safely say this was one of the most memorable and palate-pleasing experiences in our lives! In fact, we loved it so much, we came back a second night thinking it wouldn't top our first dinner. However, it was EVEN better! Shocking just how delicious it all was--from the amuse bouche to the dessert! And like I said, the service is exceptional. To top it all off, the design and ambiance of it is unlike any other restaurant or eatery. Whoever designed and built this restaurant (as well as the entire property) are talented to boot! It's only sad that Michelin has ignored it until this day. Enough about Indochine... we really enjoyed Ni for our fresh lunchtime ceviche. They give you plantains with a few salsas, which I love! Their complimentary chocolate truffles are yummy! The hotel's breakfast buffet is astounding--lots to choose from. Their omelets are a work of art! Our room was super spacious, clean and modern, with an awesome walk in shower and beautiful soaking tub with a view toward our balcony. The tub is a bit small, barely large enough for one person. The tennis courts are immaculate--they're grass courts! Very fun to play on, and the instructor is so sweet and nice! He even played a bit with my husband and gave him some pointers. I really don't feel like this place deserves less than 5 stars, but I must point out, just to vent a bit, that there were a few things that just won't ever change. Such as, the beach. It is SMALL. Almost nonexistent. It's barely enough sand from the property before the water hits it, and in length is barely as wide as a house. Kind of disappointing. In addition, the water is not what you'd expect in the Hotel Zone--clear, turquoise blue water. It's more navy blue marsh. The entire time, we didn't feel like we were in Cancun. More like Thailand with a splash of Costa Rica. Not that that's a bad thing! Just, not Cancun-like. Also, our room seemed paper thin--I could hear everyone around us taking showers, especially above us. Moreover, the property is on a thin strip of land along the water. That being said, it's a trip from lobby to room to tennis court to spa to pool... they have golf carts to take everyone to their desired destination, but it's a bit of a nuisance when you have a stroller. We opted to walk every time, which helped me shed some weight lol--I guess that's a good thing! And yes, there are mosquitoes here. I got bit a dozen times. Beware if you're pregnant or trying to get pregnant! They do have natural repellent in the bathrooms though. The thing that irked me the most was our check in. It took the front desk about 30-40 minutes to find our reservation. Weird. During this process, we weren't informed as to what was going on or what was taking so long. After finding it, I feel as if they gave us the worst room in our category, didn't offer or ask to upgrade us (even for an extra fee, though I know some people were upgraded with no questions asked), and ignored me half the time when I asked what was going on. They didn't have our room available yet either, after all that time, so we went to eat a late lunch. I expected an apology at least for having us wait, especially seeing as we were with a baby. Maybe that's why we were treated differently... who knows. At the end of the day, this is a wonderful place, but I would NOT recommend vacationing here with babies. Kids? Maybe. But not BABIES. Excellent resort!! Loved every moment my wife and I spent here earlier this year. It's 15 minutes from the airport, away from the crowds and noise of the resort strip in cancun and simply fabulous! We wanted a luxurious getaway to relax, pamper ourselves and soak in the sun and we couldn't have asked for more. The resort is very zen, spacious and even though it was at full capacity we had our space everywhere we went... From the pool to the beaches to the restaurants and even the spa! I can't wait to go back and would definitely be looking to book the same room - ocean view deluxe suite! The breakfast buffet is a must as it's quite grand and we loved our daily cactus juice to start our day. All the restaurants were great and our favorite was definitely Indochine! Highly recommend it when you visit! read more

This is the nicest resort I have ever stayed in or been to. I was blown away by the beauty of the resort and the service. Every single hotel employee you pass greets you with a sincere smile and hello. I spent three nights here for my cousins wedding. The wedding was at the hotel and was just magical. They had a dinner overlooking the beach the night before the wedding and the wedding was right on the beach. The breakfast spot is amazing as well. There were servers there who remembered what we like from the day before and made sure to get that for us the next day! Unbelievable service! I cannot wait to come back here someday. Yes, it is expensive but worth every penny. Yes, there was a tiny dead roach on the floor. But whatever, I don't even care! This resort is magical and I will never forget the experience I had here. Outstanding. One of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. Beautiful beaches, beautiful Infiniti pools, great kids club and also areas that are adults only, free kayaks and standing boards, and very high quality restaurants. The staff are extremely well trained and the place is very well run. The rooms are very clean and spacious. Overall it was so nice and relaxing that we didn't leave for our first 48 hours! Nizuc has a great New Years Party. Reservations, concierge, and room location is nice, and scenic. I like the snorkeling. This is 2 resorts in one: their is an Adult Area and there is a Family area. Both are nice. The facility is huge and impressive; the service is friendly; always kept clean. The resort seems New with a lot of modern feature phone tv and bathroom. The room view of beach and ocean was beautiful. Enjoyed the trip and would go back. The restaurants (5), bar and beach service is clean, delicious and fun. Worth a return. Thanks for the good service, clean resort, good food (room service delivery and quality is excellent). And the New Years DJ Music was a Blast. Thanks Nizuc. read more

Maria at the front desk is the absolute best. She made sure my birthday was fantastic and sent me a nice vase of flowers on another special occasion while staying here for 7 nights. The food is delicious, view breath taking and bed very comfortable. By far the most luxurious resort in Cancun. It's definitely expensive but worth the money. I slept very well with no noise. You'll hear the birds during the day and morning which I thought was very relaxing. Kayaking and other water sports were available even though I didn't do any. If you want high end peaceful vacation this is the place. Oh also ask for Alexis at the spa if you want great trigger point and deep tissue massage. read more

Excellent Staff, fantastic location and perfect weather. Only one suggestion: provide more drinking water. The white sand beach, warm clear waters , attentive beach staff service, and free Stand Up Paddle Boards etc I suggest asking for an higher level room as the ground floor " Ocean View" rooms only have a sliver over ocean view. read more

When we arrived in Cancun we were greeted by the Hotel's transport. A beautiful vehicle with cold towels and water. The SUV had videos showing us what we were in for when we arrived. The transport was a top notch experience. When we arrived at the hotel we were blown away by the massive footprint but were very impressed with the private feel it had. When we entered the lobby the view of the ocean and water features were extremely impressive. Hotel Nizuc is beautiful. Our checkin experience was fast and easy and the best part was that our room was upgraded and available immediately. We stayed in the Private Pool Villa with the Pavilion and we couldn't have been happier. The layout was awesome, the private pool was incredible ad the outdoor shower was refreshing. The room made us feel at home and that the linens and bedding were so comfortable. In fact I don't think we've slept that well in a long time. The amenities of the property were as impressive as the architecture and scenery. Punta, the adult pool and beach was our favorite. Very relaxing and beautiful views. The white sandy beaches were well maintained and impressive. The food and beverage service here at the hotel was top notch, never a bad meal and the margaritas were spectacular. Oswaldo and Luis, our butler's during our stay, were attentive and helpful, they really made us feel welcome and truly are a part of the amazing experience we had at Hotel Nizuc. I spent a weekend at Nizuc earlier this month. One of the best weekends of the year so far. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a staff member who offered us cold towels and glasses of water or a blended green juice as we checked in at the front desk. Check-in was painless and easy, and we were whisked away on a golf cart to our room. The driver took his time to point out places of interest along the way, which came super handy later on as my friend and I prefer to walk/wander around. Our room was 644 (located on the 5th floor [?!?] of the first building beside the spa) and was stunning - high ceilings, huge bed, expansive view of the mangroves and ocean. Beautifully carved wooden doors slid open to reveal a luxurious bathroom, larger than most NYC apartments. There was a sweet personalized amenity letter with a snack left in the room for us, which was much appreciated. All staff members greet you with a hand to their chest and a head nod - a detail that I loved. It's a quick cart ride to the beach or you can take your time and walk. Beach attendants are polite and help you with whatever you may need. There's free paddle boarding or snorkeling at the far right side for you to take advantage of. The food and the service at their restaurants was top notch. I'm usually incredibly critical of most places (hospitality veteran here) but I had nothing bad to say about the food or the service. They even send you off with a gift bag of chocolate after dining at Ramona. Sweet. Bomb-ass breakfast buffet with a Bloody Mary/Mimosa bar, omelet/crepe chef, Mexican favorites, and a ton of sweet and savory options for you to choose from. Also, American cereal for those with uncultured Midwestern palates. That being said, after reading some of the negative reviews here, I'd like to address some common complaints (which are hilarious when you read them out loud). 1. You go to a resort on a beautiful beach with crystal-clear shallow waters and small, lapping waves. And then you only go hang out by the pool, then complain that there are not enough pool chairs and the ocean is not swimmable. 2. You go to a resort in the tropics and don't pack sunscreen. 3. You go to a luxury resort and then complain that everything is expensive. My dude. The whole thing is supposed to be "luxe". 4. You go to a luxury resort and bring your children, then complain that the place is not good for kids because the Kid's Club is not open in the evening. Have dinner with your children, they'll cherish these memories. 5. You go to a luxury resort and pay $270USD for a manicure. Did the idea of getting a mani/pedi in Chinatown for $45 before your vacation not come to mind or did you expect the world's greatest nail service in the Yucatan Peninsula? 6. You go to a luxury resort and didn't know you have to sign off as you check out. This is not the Holiday Inn Express. I'd like to end this review with the wish that they'd make this place adults-only. Long shot, I know. I'll still be back as soon as I can. read more
