I booked a room here for two of my employees who were doing work in the area. From checking in to them leaving it was one disaster after another. The front desk employee who checked them in on the first day was rude. One of my employees tripped in the hallway over the carpet in the stairwell as it was ripped. The room stunk, the other guests were loud and partying all night. Yes complaints were made, but nothing was done. The pictures tell the story better I think.

    The screaming hotel attendant.

Wish I could give it a zero. I work nights as a nurse, so I called ahead letting them know I'd have a late check in as I was meeting a potential landlord. I was told it was no problem. I show up and am told I don't have a room, that I called and prepaid for. Unbelievable. Horrible service, she screamed at people in the lobby. And screamed at 2 other people.

Second Nastiest place ever... in the world.... Filthy, bug ridden, strong smell of dead rodents, maggots, broken and super stained everything

Who would want to sit on this?

Main points: you might get a room straight out of a horror movie, and do not be fooled by the free breakfast. My mom stayed here for one night, and unfortunately it was a rough experience, at least at first. I chose this hotel for her because of its location by the water and the "lagoon view" room option. The first room (I believe it was unit 238) was straight out of a horror movie. As soon as we opened the door, we were hit with a horrible mix of cigarette smoke, must, and just general OLDness, even though the door clearly said "no smoking." Inside, things only got worse. The furniture was extremely old and filthy, you wouldn't even want to stand near the chairs and couch, let alone sit on them. The room looked like it hadn't been updated or properly maintained in decades, like we were in an apocalyptic movie. The light switches also didn't even work! We asked to switch rooms, and thankfully, the second one was SO much better. We were so relieved. It actually smelled clean, and while the furniture still had some stains, it felt WAY more acceptable and comfortable. If this had been our original room, I probably wouldn't be writing this review. The "free continental breakfast" was another letdown. It was nothing but packaged pastries, not worth advertising, and not anything anyone should be eating for breakfast. On a positive note, the receptionist was nice and helpful. I also don't blame the cleaning staff. The first room was BEYOND help. The real issue here is obviously poor management and a lack of care for guest experience. The fact that rooms like the first one even EXIST in this hotel is extremely unacceptable, especially considering the price they're charging. Would not recommend this place to anyone since there may be a chance you get a room like the first one we got.

    Dirty bathtub

Checked in and out within the same afternoon, just like every other review.. mold, stains and grime. No thanks

Picture pamphlets do not match this facility. We checked in for a two night stay based on how beautiful the rooms were on the pamphlet however decided to stay only one night because the conditions were so bad. Would recommend you spend your money someplace else. The staff tried to be helpful but epically failed. Checked in our first room but upon reaching the room, the key pad was falling off the door. Was given a second room and after 5 tries the key card would not work. What a horrible experience. This place is very outdated and needs some serious work. Haven't seen a tv from the 80's since the 80's, see pics attached. Please spend your money somewhere else.

Why is there a CRT tv?
    Ardee A.

The room that we stayed in was not good. Sinks were clogged, fridge handles broken, sinks not clean, rusted drain, ultimately everything was not good. Also they had dresser next to the LCD tv but the top half swung open. I thought they were shelves that can be used for clothes but there was an old CRT tv in there. Why? The whole place needs a remodel and needs an elevator. I've seen an elderly struggling to go up and down the stairs. I should have checked the reviews about this hotel. I don't live in Alameda anymore and needed a place to stay for the holidays. But prior, I've lived in alameda for a long time and always thought this place was nice but to my surprise it was not. This place needs a remodel, the amount I paid was similar to places like La Quinta Inn but this place is literally a Motel 6. Price should have been $20-$50 a night. Not over $100 a night

The food was simply scrumptious, and it was heartwarming to witness older Alameda residents coming together to celebrate the birthdays of their peers. We were also served by the Alameda Boy Scouts who were great servants and made sure our glasses were full and assisted with busing our plates. Elk's Lodge, a renowned national fraternal organization, has a close-knit Alameda chapter. The dance floor was a lively spot, and their Chardonnay was an absolute treat. I eagerly anticipate attending another event at this wonderful venue. Additionally, they provide ample parking in their own lot.

I'm giving the lodge a four star for my dining experience and an enjoyable evening. My husband has been here more than a few times to play games of pool with our friendly neighbor and one of his friends. I have been here before for another event almost three years ago. The interior is beautiful, but the walls are thin. One can actually hear people talking in the next room. Our meeting place was the Mahogany Room for cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. I did not want to stuff myself with the appetizers and not have enough room in my stomach for the main entree - crab. Nor did I want any libation before the meal. After the cocktail hour, we were escorted to the Rathskeller (basement of the lodge) where the dinner was held. The gentlemen on the waitstaff were lined up in an orderly manner, serving us whatever we desired - be it the bowtie/penne pasta, dinner rolls/garlic bread, coffee, dessert. Presentation of the crab, the wines (red and white), Caesar salad and the antipasti plates was excellent...casual, yet classy. Dessert was a serving of raspberry sorbet. The only minor drawback was the bowtie/penne pasta served on the same plate as the salad plate. Even though I did not win any of the door prizes after making a donation of $20 for 20 raffle tickets, they had some nice ones, such as the $100 gift card from Scott's Seafood, $100 gift card for Yoshi's dinner and show, $50 gift cards from La Penca Azul, C'era Una Volta, 1400 Bar and Grill, Jim's Coffee Shop, Pier 29. From what I heard, the lodge raised about $1,500 in raffle ticket sales. I also have to give kudos to the waitstaff, many of whom were very tolerable and patient with this woman who sat at the next table behind my husband. She was in the wine (whine) mode. "I want penne pasta. I don't want this dinner roll with butter. I want some garlic bread. Don't you guys have any garlic bread?" On and on she went...egads...she had a sense of entitlement. Yes, there were two bottles of wine at each table, but her incessant whining almost had me do a "face palm" on her. Ooh, I wanted to offer her a piece of cheese, which would have complemented a glass of wine very well. (Now, quit your whining, lady...lol.)

We were surprised that it wasn't very busy, so there were plenty of lanes available without much of a wait. Our server was friendly and attentive throughout the night, and the entire facility was clean and well maintained. They also have a pretty large arcade section and a full bar, so there's plenty to do beyond just bowling. We ordered one of the fishbowl-style margaritas to share, but it barely tasted like it had any alcohol. We ended up ordering a second one and still didn't really feel much, which was a little disappointing. As for the food, it was definitely better than your typical bowling alley food, but nothing that really stood out. We accidentally ordered the mozzarella bites instead of mozzarella sticks because we didn't read the menu carefully--that was totally on us! The bites were actually tasty, just not what we were expecting. The lemon pepper boneless wings were a bit too salty for our taste and were drier than we had hoped. The fries were exactly what you'd expect, good, classic fries. The best part of the night was the bowling itself. We managed to squeeze in about eight games in two hours, so we definitely felt like we got our money's worth! Overall, we had a fun experience and would absolutely come back, whether it's for another date night or to celebrate a birthday with friends. If you're looking for a clean, modern bowling alley with good service, arcade games, and a fun atmosphere, Lucky Strike is definitely worth checking out.
