I have never dealt with such con artists and scammers that know how to work the system like this…read moreplace does. Our company rented a car to a customer and he wrecked it shortly after having it. Instead of reporting the accident to us, he took it to his friends here at Kingdom Collision Works. The company did not inform us that they had our vehicle in our possession. It wasn't until the insurance company needed our participation in order for this shop to collect with that we were informed. After learning of our vehicle being at Kingdom Collision Works, the company began to screen our calls as well as the insurance company. It is evident that this company has vehicles towed to their shop by the city or tow companies that they know, give customers and insurance companies excessive fees, then put a mechanic's lien on the vehicles in order to fix them for cheap and turn them for a profit. After denying the insurance company multiple times for payment to retrieve the vehicle, I took it upon myself to go to the establishment in person. An overweight, short man with thinning hair approached me and used phrases like "this car has been here forever", "I think we already put a lien on it", "It won't be worth it to remove the car from our facility". After further inspection, the vehicle had very minimal damage. I informed the man that we would like to remove our vehicle from the facility. He provided an invoice that stated $3,494.34 for miscellaneous charges. I read the sign, took pictures of the fees charged by the shop, and began to question the amount. My calculations were less than half of this amount. I also asked the receptionist if they charge storage on days that the facility is closed. She said that the company is closed on the weekends. I explained that being closed on the weekends, not being accessible to our company, or the insurance company should provide leeway to reduce charges for these days. The manager dismissed the receptionist to our office and then explained that they are open on the weekends for pickups and drop offs contrary to their signage, their hours on Google, and what the receptionist had told me. When I brought this to the manager's attention, he began to backpedal, and tell me that the tow fees, admin fees, and daily storage had increased to thee times more than what it was starting two months ago. I asked why the simple table sign wasn't changed and removed. He had the receptionist grab the sign off of the desk quickly. When I informed him that I felt that we were being extorted, the situation was being handled unethically and immorally, and that I would seek legal repercussions, he became extremely nervous. He then, informed me that he would speak to the owner to work out a deal to equate to my calculations that I felt were already too high being that the company never informed us of our vehicle being at the facility, that we were charged for days that the company wasn't open. I am certain that this company has taken advantage of other businesses and individuals. I have filed a complaint with the Attorney General, submitting with the BBB, and may seek a civil lawsuit. This company provides a bad name to mechanics and body shops. They extort people and charge excessive fees in an attempt to put a lien on customer's vehicles to resell.
