I suppose perfect swim weather. Other water sports I'm sure bring in many from afar. Nature lovers and people who like to travel in RVs or travel trailers I think would love this place. Probably few better places for camping. Due to the shape of the lake there is lots of shore and very few people using it. I think its an underrated lake but I still prefer Lake Tahoe - and at about the same distance for me from home I probably would never come to this lake as a destination. There is something about the trees or the air in Lake Tahoe that lures me in more like a fly to a bug zapper... and I'm not alone - its popularity is shown by the packed beaches. I can compare this place only to Lake Tahoe and another thing that I love about LT is how it (or at least South Lake Tahoe) is the perfect marriage of nature and city. There are bars and steak houses and music venues and other thing you could imagine that a decent city has. Mount Shasta seems to just be nature. If your driving long distances I think its worth a stop. Take an hour. Stretch your legs - get in your 10,000 steps even when you are on the road.

I love Shasta Lake! It mostly lends itself to accessing the water by boat but there are a few spots…read morewhere you can drive your car to the beach and swim. I have enjoyed renting a party cruiser boat with my family and just the same parking at the beach and swimming or floating on our rafts.

Michele is amazing. I sent a reservation inquiry and she called me back promptly that day. She was…read moreso upbeat and fun to talk to and genuinely excited to host me. She wasn't pushy at all and didn't upsell me anything - just gave me all the tips and info. We decided on a tandem snowmobile for an hour with a guide. We arrived 20 minutes late but she was so professional - she shortened and made the check in process so easy. There was a cabin with fire where you can change since Deer Mountain was quite cold and was snowing that day desolate the snow drought. She was mega attentive and taught us everything and told us exactly where we were going. She took couple of pictures for us and explained what we'll see had it not been so foggy. On the way back when we stopped at a viewpoint my boyfriend accidentally accelerated and we toppled right where the cliff started - Michele rushed over and helped us up and we genuinely concerned for our well being. We're so grateful she was our guide and can't recommend her enough. She's an amazing person with a beautiful smile and we definitely suggest everyone go snowmobile with her, especially first timers!

Michele is super fun and an overall great human. She's energetic and patient, and flexible with how you want to spend your time on the water. We went wakeboarding and enjoyed tubing! She even took us to see Mt. Shasta from the lake, which was beautiful. We'll definitely be back again!

Their site and cabins are comfortable, clean, and cozy. It's such a treat to have delicious breakfasts and dinners al fresco, under a canopy of tall trees. There are a variety of options for ingredients for your sandwiches on the river and delicious, homemade salsa. Michael and Wanda are great hosts making sure you have everything you need. The rafting equipment is well maintained. Our evenings were topped off sitting around a campfire. Anyone would be fortunate to spend time a couple of days with Redwoods and Rivers.

Our group was age 10 - 64 and everyone survived :-) *** request Chris *** I guess I didn't realize how potentially dangerous it was until a couple of our teenagers fell out of the raft during a rapid.... But they were ok... Only bruises and some scrapes. They would do it all over again.... Falls and all. We went on a Class III tour which included Class I - III rapids. It's sort of "medium adventurous". If you have a lot of younger or older people in your group, you are probably good sticking with a Class I - II tour. But you will be safe during a Class III if you tell your guide that you can't swim, don't want to be thrown from the raft, etc. TIPS: DRINK A LOT OF WATER, show up early, expect to be exhausted the next day, expect to do a little hiking / climbing during lunch, Bring sunscreen, get one of those things that help your sunglasses stay around your neck because you will lose them, wear a visor or a cap under your helmet, bring cash to tip your guide because they do a hell of a job and they only make $100/day. IT'S A LOT OF FUN and the owners are really nice people.
