The sunrise over Lake Shasta was gorgeous. The early morning start was perfect for beating the summer heat and the wake from all the water sport boaters. Within 10-15 minutes of being on the water, and poles in for less than 5- we got our first bite. A beautiful rainbow trout! The bite was pretty consistent from there on out- Eric knew the right areas to fish & had all the equipment to get us to the depths we needed to be at. His set up on the boat is very dialed in & even with two or 3 fish on at once, he makes it easy. By lunch our family had already caught 30+ fish. We threw back a bunch of spotted bass and lost a number of large trout. At the end of the day, we went home with 26 trout (rainbow and browns) and 4 keeper sized bass. Eric kept the fun going, was enjoyable to be around and made the process so simple on us. He's even willing to help process the catch at the end of the day. 10/10 stars for Eric and his guiding service. We'd recommend a day on the lake with him to just about anyone we know- avid fisherman and newbies alike. Thanks for everything Eric!

Booking the pontoon was easy and straightforward through their website, with no issues at all. When we arrived, we checked in at the front desk. The boat driver and all passengers are required to use iPads to initial and sign a waiver before getting on the boat. The check-in process was very simple and took about 10 minutes. The employee who helped us was friendly and nice. Once we completed the paperwork, the employee gave us a boat assignment tag, parking pass and directed us to pick up our rental. We headed down to the docks, where we were assigned our pontoon. We then took the boat over to the launch area, loaded all of our gear, and headed out for the day. The pontoon itself was definitely showing its age. It wasn't particularly clean and had cobwebs throughout the boat. It had a hardtop canopy that provided plenty of shade, and while the seats were in decent shape with no holes or tears, they were noticeably dirty. I understand that these are rental boats and they naturally experience a lot of wear and tear, so I wasn't expecting a brand-new boat. However, I do think the overall cleanliness could be improved. That said, the boat was functional and got us where we needed to go without any issues. We found a nice cove, anchored up, and enjoyed the day on the lake. At the end of the day, we returned to the dock, unloaded our gear, and handed the boat back to an employee. The return process was just as easy as the check-in. Once the boat was returned, there was no need to go back into the office or complete any additional paperwork. Overall, despite some of the cleanliness and condition issues with the pontoon, we had a good experience. The booking, check-in, and return processes were all very easy, and the staff was friendly and helpful. I would definitely consider renting a boat from here again, although I would hope to see some improvements in the cleanliness and upkeep of the boats.

We were having fun and I wasn't watching the sun in the sky- and then realized that we needed to get to a gas station ASAP. We pulled in on absolute fumes to Bridge Bay at 6:05pm, and were greeted by a very kind young man who let us know unfortunately that they were closed. I begged for a miracle- single lady on a lake with a bunch of kids, and he took me to see his manager to plead my case. I even offered them $100 cash for any gas they might have... manager said no. "Nope, I don't have the codes." No idea what that means... just know he refused to help me. I realize that this was my mistake- but honestly, a gas station should have a way to help people in emergencies. I'd leave a one star review- but the young man was so kind and polite, he was really trying to help, despite his manager. It was a lesson learned about gas, closing times, and I have a new awareness about the lake community- you are really on your own out there.

She wasn't pushy at all and didn't upsell me anything - just gave me all the tips and info. We decided on a tandem snowmobile for an hour with a guide. We arrived 20 minutes late but she was so professional - she shortened and made the check in process so easy. There was a cabin with fire where you can change since Deer Mountain was quite cold and was snowing that day desolate the snow drought. She was mega attentive and taught us everything and told us exactly where we were going. She took couple of pictures for us and explained what we'll see had it not been so foggy. I brought my 8-year-old son Brandon along for his first real fly fishing adventure, and Jack made it a day we'll both remember forever. From the moment we hit the water, Jack was patient, knowledgeable, and great with my son. The float down the river was absolutely stunning, and the fishing action was steady throughout the day. Jack knew exactly where to go, and we hooked into some beautiful rainbows... 12 strikes and 9 landed, some north of 18 inches. Jack grilled up a hot ribeye steak lunch riverside--seriously next level. It felt more like a gourmet adventure than a fishing trip at times. Spotting wildlife along the river including deer and a bald eagle as we tackled the mild rapids was awesome! If you're looking for an experienced, fun, and family-friendly guide on the Upper Sac, Jack Trout is your guy. We'll be back for sure.

Our group was age 10 - 64 and everyone survived :-) *** request Chris *** I guess I didn't realize how potentially dangerous it was until a couple of our teenagers fell out of the raft during a rapid.... But they were ok... Only bruises and some scrapes. They would do it all over again.... Falls and all. We went on a Class III tour which included Class I - III rapids. It's sort of "medium adventurous". If you have a lot of younger or older people in your group, you are probably good sticking with a Class I - II tour. But you will be safe during a Class III if you tell your guide that you can't swim, don't want to be thrown from the raft, etc. TIPS: DRINK A LOT OF WATER, show up early, expect to be exhausted the next day, expect to do a little hiking / climbing during lunch, Bring sunscreen, get one of those things that help your sunglasses stay around your neck because you will lose them, wear a visor or a cap under your helmet, bring cash to tip your guide because they do a hell of a job and they only make $100/day. IT'S A LOT OF FUN and the owners are really nice people.
