It's been many years since i've eaten at Cora's, i was expect high quality food and the sweet smell of childhood breakfast. When we ordered our mango smoothie it came as a pineapple yogurt concoction with black specs on top. Our food tasted nasty and it was cold. The strawberry's where out dated, the eggs where cold and had a horrible aftertaste, the toast was soggy, dont even get me started with the waffles. Just as i thought it couldn't get any worse i found a red hair in my eggs. We left with three full plates and 3 empty stomaches. Please for you're own well being don't come here or any Cora's. As a full time food reviewer this by far my worst visit. But i will say the music (the christmas classics) takes my mind off horrendous food. read more

We have been here a few times, both in large and smaller groups. The servers are always knowledgeable and very attentive, without being overbearing. We were there last Sunday for brunch, which might be the busiest time for this restaurant judging on how packed it was. We were about to turn around and leave, when Mona met us at the door and said she could have a table for us in little time. She even offered to let us wait outside and come get us when the table was ready. She was very attentive and proactive, even though we were not sitting at her section. Updating and upgrading my review. So, after all this time since my last review and because so many out of towners have wanted to go, I have continued to go here. I even had my Handfasting Breakfast there in June! So, the staff are absolutely awesome sauce! I especially like that the newer serving staff are not afraid to ask their questions of the staff that's been there longer. Maybe even an encouraged thing? Bottom line the casual staff comes and goes, but most of the fulltime staff have been there for years and years. That's very telling as to the staff/boss partnership. The fulltimers are very friendly and appear to like getting up in the morning to go to work. Rare in so many people in the food industry these days. It's hard work slinging hash, and I have the utmost respect for anyone who can, not only do this, but do it well. The food choices are still surprising in the variations and choices that are on the menu. Everything from a warm bowl of oatmeal or fresh fruit plates to the more exotic realms of bacon and eggs! Oh my! I have as yet to see Chocolate Bacon on the menu but that's not a deal breaker! ;) I have never ever regretted a menu choice. Everything is of a proper temperature, fresh, yummy and well plated. While I have my go-to choices here I'm not adverse to trying their ever changing Specials or newly introduced menu items. Some are a miss for me because of personal taste but do not diminish the potential appeal for other folks. Most though are a hit in my books. This is a great place for groups but I would suggest calling them out of courtesy before you get there. They don't take reservations but with one recent call were able to put together a seating for 10-12 of us before we got there. All in all breakfast/lunch places sure can be hit and miss, but Coras is reliable to ensure consistency at this location. That's comforting first thing in the morning before coffee! I went with my four sisters and we all ordered the eggs benedict, this is a good test for a restaurants ability at reproducing the same dish with the same quality. This location failed because two of us had really runny yolk and the rest were near hard boiled. Also to fruits on the plate were not fresh in the least, the grapes were mushy, and the orange had that hard texture that an orange gets when it is not edible. The waitress wasn't kind, and I will leave it at that. I like Cora's other locations so I know it's just this one that sucks. read more

I visited Cora,s for a late breakfast and waited for 30 minutes without getting any service from the greeter. She said she was waiting for a table to be cleaned. We watched as it was cleaned three time's by a male busboy. She kept walking to the table returning to her station to fold napkins with cutlery. There did not seem to be a manager on site to ensure that waiting guests were being seated. We éventât left and went to Denny's where we été seated within 2 minutes and a coffee poure within one minute of seating. I never really knew about Cora's until a few years ago. A few friends took me to this location for brunch while on a weekend in Ottawa. One thing I've ever had there and I continuously get it because it is absolutely fantastic is the Eggs Benedectine on an English muffin. It's been years and years since I've been to any Cora's restaurant, so maybe my expectations were high, but the breakfast wasn't as good as I remember. I could have sworn that they had an extensive list of menu items, so I was surprised when I opened up the menu and saw less items than I expected. They do have decent selection (about 2-3 different dishes per type, such as omelettes, waffles, crepes, etc.), but nothing super unique. Everyone should be able to find something that suites their tastes. I wanted some sort of meat, cheese, and veggie combo with my Eggs Ben et Dictine, so I chose brie cheese and mushrooms from the list and added some ham. The ham ended up making it too salty, so I didn't eat all of it, and though the toppings themselves were fine and plentiful, the Hollandaise sauce was lacking in flavor. The eggs were also poached almost to hard when I asked for soft, even medium would have been fine. The potatoes were roasted, but much softer, almost mushy texture. They also put a lot of fruit on the plate, though all warm and most of it unripened. The warm fruit was a real turn off when craving fresh fruit in the morning. The taste of it all was okay, but not great, and not very satisfying. It would have been fine had we not paid $15-20 each per plate. Other local places are comparable in price but fresher, more flavorful, and more creative. I would highly suggest those before heading to this chain. But I will say, the service was friendly, if anything. read more

I simply have difficulty deciding what to order and when I do order something and it arrives(after I've changed my mind several times) I always long for my companion's meal instead of my own. The tomatoes -- we're talking peak of season here -- were imported from some country that specializes in those horrible rock hard tasteless abominations. My alleged omelette was overcooked... I was at Cora's for the first time last fall. We were celebrating a birthday and the 10 of us ordered what we thought would be a good combination of different plates. Mine was french toast dipped in egg batter, a little bacon, a little egg and a mountain of fresh fruits. Couldn't have had a better brunch than at Cora's. What once started as an inspired, beautiful, creative idea is now overly-franchised, pre-packaged, reheated, head-office approved mediocrity. Is this what Cora had in mind? Unfortunately I cannot recommend this Cora's to anyone looking for a good breakfast. Like many others, it's the attractively plated fruit salad that grabs my attention, and I wanted to order something that would complement a beautiful plate of fruit. Honestly, I couldn't find anything on the menu that was the good sweet/savoury combination I was searching for! I rarely go out for meals, but the last place I went for brunch was the Chateau Laurier's in house restaurant (I think it's called Willifred's or something similar). The breakfast and service was phenomenal, and I made the mistake of thinking I'd have something resembling that when I next went out for a meal. I guess I either just don't go out enough or my expectations of acceptable service and food are too high. My problem is that when I went to Willifred's, I had the most amazing eggs benedict. I think those eggs might have been the best thing I've eaten in my entire life. Every single component was cooked to perfection and paired with a heavenly hollandaise sauce. That was my first exposure to eggs benedict.................too bad for Cora's. At Cora's, I decided to go with the eggs benedict (or ben et dictine or something like that). I got the version with asparagus and swiss cheese. Almost every component of it was just wrong! The hollandaise was unattractive and had a strange flavour, the English muffin was stale, and the cheese was hard and off-putting. What was done well, though, was the egg. Poached nicely. Not enough to redeem the dish, and I wouldn't have said the dish was bad enough to be sent back....just bad enough to prevent me from returning in the future. As for the service, I think I've figured this out. I don't think the wait staff here are actually trained to serve customers! Our waitress seemed to have very little idea of what to actually do...my dining partner said that they'd likely learned to serve from watching tv, and I think that may be true! Our glasses were empty (and tiny!) most of the time unless we flagged someone down for a refill. I'm not sure why, but STINGINESS ABOUNDS at this location. It costs extra to have onions or mushrooms added to breakfast potatoes which in my opinion should be no-charge if you want to maintain customers. When our food was brought, our server brought a plate of maple syrup and says "its 50 cents each cause its the real stuff". I guess I'm just kinda shocked that this is considered acceptable, all around. Crap service, crap food, the best part is the fruit salad. Save your money and get a fruit cup from the grocery store in the parking lot. You wont be missing anything. Also note that Cora's no longer offers fresh squeezed orange juice, your option is concentrated pre-packaged at home office, 'just add water'. I would say I give Cora's a rating of "mediocre", but when I asked my partner what he thought of the meal, he only said "disgusting"...................yikes! read more

This Cora's is the same as the others with the same menu, heavy on fruit and crepes as breakfast. Nice omelettes and the usual breakfast fare is there to. The problem with this location though is that the food is normally lukewarm and that includes the coffee! Pre-cooked sausage and bacon is barely warmed over by the time it reaches you and same goes for eggs etc.. If the kitchen would only turn on the ovens this Cora's would be much better. read more

I don't understand why people want to come here. Over priced , sloppy, non seasoned food! Breakfast places should be known for good potatoes: not Coras! They are boiled wedges without skin , and then charred for colour. NO SEASONING. NO SALT. NO PEPPER. Nothing. Just bland and gross. Everything on the plate just looks sloppy. The strawberries are at that "almost bad" stage where parts are mushy. Sausages ; again plain. Bland. No seasoning. Semi warmed. At least they didn't fail at the toast.
