Fresh and delicious! I had read that Corazon Cocina was one of the top places to eat while in SB so we checked it out for lunch one day and came back again the next day! Located inside the Santa Barbara Public Market, in these COVID times, seating is still pretty plentiful and spaced out. FOOD: - ensenada taco - crispy battered fish taco with slaw and crema. Fish is so flaky and tender and that batter is so crispy when you bite down on it, yum. - tia juana taco - shrimp and octopus taco. The octopus is probably one of the most tender and flavorful octopus I've ever had! This is what pulpo should be like all the time! - chicana quesadilla - same size tortilla as the taco, and it's not folded in half or covered with a second tortilla (pretty much a taco with some melted cheese under the toppings). This was SO GOOD. The shrimp was super bouncy and fresh, paired with the fresh, sweet corn and salsa was amazing. - burrito contramar - on the pricier side ($15) but pretty filling and comes with a side of chips. This was good, but not my favorite thing we tried, I thought some of the other items were more creative. Corazon Cocina is a popular, acclaimed spot in the Santa Barbara Public Market, and I was pleased to learn that they offer delivery. I put in a big lunch order and was pretty excited to try everything. A seasonal, SoCal Mexican place with a Michelin Bib Gourmand designation sounded very much up my alley. I don't know if we ordered on a weird day, but I was surprised by the overall caliber of our food. Everything looked good, and probably used good ingredients, but the deliciousness was muted almost across the board, like whoever made the food just decided to stint on salt and seasoning. The guacamole, which supposedly came with avocado, serrano chile, cilantro, onions, and toasted market pepitas, had no heat and I couldn't detect any onion. It wasn't bad. The homemade tortilla chips it came with were great and it used some very nice, ripe avocado, but I felt like that was about all I was eating, with the occasional pumpkin seed. I tried three tacos and not one of them was as good as I wanted it to be (though they were all huge, which I guess is a plus?). The Tia Juana came with octopus, white wild shrimp, avocado, cheese, salsa cruda, peanut arbol salsa, Anaheim chile, and pickled onions on a homemade corn tortilla. Lot of interesting things in there, but none of it really mattered when the octopus was bland and overcooked. The al pastor was better, with spit-roasted and adobo marinated pork, cilantro, salsa cruda, and pickled habanero-pineapple salsa, as was the birria, with braised short rib, salsa macha, onions, and cilantro. Both of these had hefty portions of stewy meat that just needed a little more flavor. I tried some of the classic Mexican rice, prepared with tomatoes, chicken broth, and queso fresco, and this had the same problem. Not terrible, but not worth taking more than a couple bites. A couple things were fantastic, though, and I'd definitely recommend them if you're checking this place out. The market salad was vibrant and delicious, with spring mixed greens, avocado, corn, tomatoes, pepitas, queso fresco, jicama, radish, and garlic-serrano vinaigrette. The sal de mar was a lovely fresh ceviche with seasonal sashimi quality fish (I think it was probably yellowtail), watermelon, avocado, cucumber, chile, pomegranate, and hibiscus aguachile. I'd maybe try Corazon Cocina again if I were already in Santa Barbara Public Market, but it was too expensive and underwhelming to reorder for delivery. This is one of my favorite spots in SB. Before getting into this delicious Mexican restaurant, I would like to mention that this restaurant is located inside a food court similar to the Grand Central market in LA. Now let's get into Corazon Cocina -this is my second time here. The second time around they were all out of the fresh seas food, which is what brought me back. So the second time around I got an Ensenada taco and a Gringa. Both tacos were finger licking good. Just remember to order chips if want any because the tacos come Al la carte, which I didn't know. I like to rate my places from 1 to 10. 1 through 3 - will never comeback 4 through 5.8 - will come back if someone I'm with wants to try the spot 5.9 though 7.0 -will come back 7.1 through 9.9 will make an effort to come back and I would recommend the spot 10.0 is the best place! (Haven't had a 10 because there is always a better place out there. My rating for this place is 7.9 (Will you come back? This place was honestly deeelicious~ We dropped by on a Saturday for a quick lunch and were definitely happy to dig in to the eats here. My bf got a burrito and we grabbed chips + guac plus the doraditos crispy tacos to share; I had to grab a cauliflower taco as well. Thank god we didn't get any more food cause gosh this was already more than anticipated :P I have to start of by praising how good the crispy tacos were. By far the best best best find out of the bunch. The cauliflower taco was HUGE btw; it was good but needed a little bit more seasoning so I added a bit of salsa and it was great. My bf inhaled his entire burrito in 5 minutes and said he's definitely get it again. I am a huge guacamole fiend but sadly that was probably the least delicious of the bunch (STILL good though!!). This location is pretty chill with both indoor and outdoor areas to sit and honestly having a few other options right in the vicinity was nice. I popped in to the cafe/coffee place next to this to grab a coffee with brunch and it worked out perfectly. The intense and smoky of the spit-toasted pork worked very well with the smoky but slightly sour salsa mugrosa. There was a rich variety of textures thanks to the roasted potatoes. The salsa had a nice kick but still allowing the pork to dominate. Flavors were rich and intense overall but never monotonous or overwhelming. The burrito was flaky and the homemade chips were excellent. The 2 salsas were also refreshing and flavorful. There was significant amount of care and innovation shown in elevating a common Mexican street food into the next level. Really well done!! 54/50 Service: Perhaps the worst component today. This place is inside the Public Market place, I went around a couple of times not finding a building that said Corazon Cocina on the outside. Needless to say I found the place. People are friendly, the girl taking the order answered all my questions about the food. The food was DELICIOUS very fresh and good sized portions. We were on a little getaway in Santa Barbara and decided to stay in for the night. I was craving Mexican food and found Corazón Cocina through YELP. We ordered on line and it arrived in 40 minutes. I am a lover of margaritas and when it offered margaritas for delivery, I was a happy girl! The margaritas were amazing and definitely had alcohol in them. Two chicken mole tacos, guacamole, chips and two tasty margaritas were enjoyed by each of us in our hotel room with a great movie. The tacos are delicious, the guacamole was perfect, portions are just enough and the prices are reasonable. Four stars for not adding salsa to the order when a bag of chips and guacamole was ordered. I will definitely visit in person next time we are in town and highly recommend Corazón Cocina! Enjoy. read more

This place is located in a public market, which is pretty busy. First, wow, the Michelada was amazing! 10/10 for presentation and taste. It was delightful. The shrimp tacos and green sauce were also so good - my mouth is watering just thinking of them. My son's quesadilla, rice, and beans were also wonderful. I had to knock off a star because I was disappointed in the mango ceviche. Apparently it's super popular, but tasted pretty bland for me. It's okay though, the rest of the food made up for it. Located in the food court, Coraon Cocina serves up a variety of Mexican fare from tacos to burritos to quesos. I went with an Ensenada taco (fish taco) (each taco is about $6 but is fairly sizable where you can expect a few chunks of battered fish) - it had a good cook and nice thin layer of crispy batter. The sauces were decent as well and not too spicy. The food court itself offers plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Street parking available if you can find it! read more

I understand they are trying to get people in with concept days like these but don't finesse people with poor quality items. Not a lot of options at the PM. Really can't go wrong with Mexican. Nothing wrong with the food here, just how they gouge customers. If you have a breakfast menu, charging $2 for eggs is ridiculous. I have NEVER seen any breakfast items charge for eggs. Eggs are essential in a breakfast item. So yes, for the principle, we opted out of the eggs in our breakfast burrito. But alas, they did get us. When ordering, the cashier informs us there are complimentary chips if we were interested. Yes please and I will add the $7 guacamole too. What $7?!? They had a sign up informing patrons of the rising cost of avocados affecting their prices. Okay we just came from the farmers market down the road and got an organic avocado for $1.35. I am sure Corazon can get some kind of quantity discount as a restaurant and I am doubly sure they aren't buying organic. The first thing that is brought over is the free chips and $7 guac. When we get the burrito, it came with chips - had I known that, I would never have been so enamored by the cashiers 'generous' offer. Not sure if salsa is free. Highly recommend the shrimp taco, one is $7. Lots of shrimp, plenty of texture/freshness from cabbage but pretty pricey.
