Wouldn't recommend. Hired to paint two story house, deck and stairs…read more Doesn't supervise his crew much, then denigrates their work. His crew works hard, but is not well trained. It is his responsibility to train and supervise. They do a minimum of sanding. I even caught one starting to paint a dusty door without even wiping it. This is his regular crew that has been with him for years! Whitfield applies only one coat of paint. This is even for a home at the shore! He balked at suggestion if two and gave a long explanation why. What nonsense! All painters do two coats for good reason. He does't stand behind his work. Sherwin-Williams' deck paint failed within 6 weeks. It absorbs dirt, it is wearing off in patches and showing old paint underneath. Whitfield refused to repaint with two coats of better paint. Great! Now we have the trouble and expense of calling back the painter we used six years ago who applied two coats of high quality paint. That job did not fail, but I wanted a different color. Should have rehired that painter in the first place! Also, Whitfield failed to arrange for the carpenter (a very skilled worker who can do just about anything) to return to finish a short deck rail that needed to be crafted, installed and painted. It's been 6 weeks! We hired Whitfield because he was available and not expensive. Now we know why.

They also did an absolutely fantastic job at flooring installation of our luxury vinyl plank flooring, as well as the removal of the existing tile that was in the house previously in some areas. We wanted the project done on a pretty fast timeline and Ray and his team made sure that that happened! It needed some freshening up and John and his team did a superb job. As mentioned below, he guided us on colors, was prompt, professional and reasonably priced. I even had an additional "emergency project" I really needed done the next day and John somehow managed to fit it in during another big project he was working on. He "saved the day" for me and did a great job while doing it. John is why Yelp had to add an additional star to their 4-star rating system.

We had quite a few carpentry repairs needed - siding that needed to be replaced, along with a few dry-rotted boards. They found some other issues while they were prepping the house, and the additional cost was very fair. John works with a talented carpenter and after the repairs (and lots of gaps that were caulked/sealed), the house is so much tighter and weatherproof. And it looks absolutely fantastic! Above all, I really appreciate the craftsman approach to the work that John and his crew have. They're going to do the work the right way the first time, and they fixed tiny details that I would have never even noticed. They're also all really relaxed while being super professional.
