I would suggest getting there right when they start seating if you're particular about finding a good seat. They do not show movie previews before the movie. We got our tickets online, however, when you arrive, you still have to go to the box office on the left after entering to get your paper tickets. They have snacks and beverages on the 1st floor. They offer a shot of alcohol in your hot cider or hot cocoa at the 1st floor concession stand. If you want beer or wine, you have to go to the concession stand upstairs. I believe the concession stand prices were a bit more reasonable than a normal movie theatre. The lines are long but they move super fast and the staff is phenomenally nice. We parked on the street and downloaded the parking meter app. They have a parking garage that is super close and I sort of wish we parked there. Will definitely return.

The theater itself was very nice with it's history, reminiscent of the small local movie theater I grew up with. Now the reason for only 3 stars was due to someone thinking that selling popcorn in paper bags was a good idea! During the first half of the play it was so annoying hearing the crunching and rustling of the paper bags. It's not like it was a movie that had loud speakers but it was during a play with live, speaking actors. Thankfully there wasn't anyone with in a few rows of us with popcorn. As loud as the bags were, I couldn't imagine sitting next to someone eating popcorn. Really a bad idea. Take away the popcorn or at least sell in cardboard tubs and the experience would have been sooooooo much better.

We enjoyed the experience so much that we returned to see Hedwig, Guys and Dolls and possibly the Rocky Horror Picture Show. This is a small community theater with up to 80 seats so basically you are right there in front of the actors. The sets are simple, there is no stage, but somehow there's great acoustics in here and it sounds like a full on stage production. The actors are entirely volunteers and if you go to enough shows you'll recognize the same faces. They are always out in the lobby waiting to meet people after a show. If you looking for a fun, affordable way to see shows and even if you live a bit farther away, it's worth the drive. And for those of you with kiddos, they are also doing Frozen in December. There are educational opportunities for children and adults, including musical theatre and improv classes. The shows are always fantastic and full of local talent in the casts, musicians, and tech crews alike. I have had the privilege of performing in two shows with GCT and I had a blast each time. I hope to perform more in the future. Everyone should be attending the performances at Gettysburg Community Theatre!

When you purchase your tickets, they will show you on a screen the seats that you can pick that are recliners, then they are reserved for you until you get inside after you get your popcorn and everything. It's always fun to go to the movies and have that experience. Everyone at this theater always seems so very friendly and accommodating. This will be our choice of theaters when we go back to the movies

It's really a shame if you have a large family it will cost you a good chunk of change to get them popcorn and drinks. They do have a special where you can get a medium drink and a medium popcorn and you can also get two drinks in a popcorn, but it's expensive. I really wish movie theaters would reduce their cost And make it affordable. So why four stars instead of five and here is the answer the popcorn was stale despite putting extra butter on the popcorn. It was extremely chewy and had zero crunch. The second issue in movie theater, one where the movie was playing there was hardly any airflow. It was extremely uncomfortable to me anyway but it wasn't that cold especially on a hot day. You would think that they would have the air conditioning running a little better than what they did There is a renovation it looks like that will be happening. They will be putting in new stadium seats that recline and the seats are heated. Ain't that crazy?... Yes, we continue to go here to watch the movies. It's a nice location.

The musicians dress in period costumes and play traditional music from both North and South. My only complaint was some of the stories went on too long and I wish there were more songs and less stories, but that's my taste. They had a booklet of song lyrics they hand out and obviously change songs for different performances, and I wish I heard more that were listed! The pastor and greeter were both very friendly as we waited outside, and they served light refreshments after. Even though the event was free, I had to tip based on the quality. If you are a Civil War fan, this is definitely a quality event to attend.

I wish we had booked a longer tour! Our guide, Jim, was excellent. He was very pleasant and knowledgeable. He was able to pull our individual interests in making the tour more personal. The museum was good. It wasn't overly big, but I would say give yourself an hour to tour it. Honestly, any bigger and I would have succumbed to information overload. The gift shop was nice. There was a little bit of everything for everybody. They had a really good selection of books. Oh, and while we were there, there were re-enactors on the front lawn. All in all our visit made for a great day.

I recommend those big candles because they have the nicest scents and are perfectly made to last a long time. Also, the caps are made with great fabric, not cheaply made. I'm a cap collector, so the fabric and how caps stay on me make a difference. There are other items that I was thinking of getting, but that's next time.
