For classes, people get around a big table and focus eyes and hands on making something beautiful from the variety of glass, beads, tiles, etc. It's such a stress-releaser, sort of like I imagine the old quilting bees were (or new ones still are.) There's so much variety as to the projects they offer and the staff is so accommodating. The owner really takes pride on his business and made us feel right at home. The experience lasted a little under an hour (but your time will vary). It was an art medium we had never tried before and it's fun to have this place in Pflugerville. The owner also sells paintings and jewelry from local artists, and other small items. It looks like he's offering a summer camp as well. The only negative thought I have is that you have to sign a waiver AFTER you pay (and there are no refunds, but you can reschedule). It would be nice to have the waiver beforehand to know exactly what you have to agree to in order to participate in the experience. The waiver was pretty standard (permission to use photos on social media, resin is sticky and can make a mess, etc), but I didn't like that I didn't know about the waiver and wasn't able to read it until we had paid. There is also not an OPT-OUT option for the permission to use photos, which is not okay with me, but since we had already paid, I was only going to object if pictures were taken. Luckily, there were no pics taken during our time, so it's a non issue, but it could be for some people. Overall, it's a great new art space!

Ms. Erin has a great, relaxed way of teaching the kids but still allowing them to make artistic decisions. The art show was cool though not by kiddo's cup of tea but a valuable experience for her. I have already recommended Art+Academy/Ms. Erin to friends. In contrast, we are on day one of a museum art camp this week and my kiddo says the teacher isn't good. She said, the instructor gave no advice on how to draw 3D shapes and most importantly didn't come around to help us/comment on our drawings but was reading a book instead. For anyone who is weighing options, I highly recommend Art Plus Academy. We will definitely be back next summer!

Even with everything going on, they ran an OUTSTANDING camp experience for the kids. Our 6 year old and his friend (8 yr old) both had a blast flexing their creativity, while learning a variety of artistic styles and expressions. We ended up registering for more weeks of camp because they enjoyed it so much, and created a wall-of-art to proudly showcase our boy's work at home (see photo). I highly recommend this place, it's amazing staff--especially, Sarah--and the safe, caring learning environment they provide for our precious kiddos.

This studio, run by Steve Dubov, has at least one of everything you might need for your sculpture explorations in clay, plaster, bronze, permastone, and beyond. And Steve is very knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions you've got. The people at the studio have a variety backgrounds, skill levels, goals, and aesthetics. But they are all laid back and love what they do. I've found this to be a very welcoming place. I especially recommend Steve's Sculpture 101 class series. His instruction isn't heavy handed and in each class you produce a small piece in just a few hours. An added bonus is that Armadillo Clay Supply is conveniently located few blocks away.
