Looking for a true pilates studio? Here you have it. I've taken pilates at various times - mat, partners, privates. Generally, I failed to see the value. However, I am becoming severely out of shape and worst of all looking it. I stopped in at Core Arts Pilates at the suggestion of a friend. I was greeted by friendly helpful people. A year ago my husband and I decided to renew our wedding vows for our 25th anniversary. It was a wonderful idea and I was so excited. Then I realized that I would have to wear a dress. Now after 25 years and 2 kids and focusing more on everything else but myself, I wasn't in the best shape. Actually that's an understatement. I was in terrible shape. (I think I was a size 28 or maybe a 32 I'm not sure because I didn't want to know) I knew I had to do something. I cut back on my calories and started moving more and that helped. In March I new I had to step up my game and that is where Sharmila and her staff of wonder women came into the picture. I started taking classes at Core Arts 3 times a week. At first I couldn't even get off the reformer without a helping hand from one of my fabulous instructors. I worked hard and stayed focused. The staff was so supportive, I never felt foolish, never experienced any pain during or after, I only felt empowered to become stronger and healthier. On November 14 I slipped into my size 14 dress and danced the night away celebrating our 25th. I'm in Paris now on my 2nd honeymoon. I LOVE Core Arts Pilates! As someone who is used to lifting weights and getting my cardio in, I've never been able to master my abs. Three classes in and I'm already seeing a change in my strength and the way I'm carrying my stomach. My clothes are fitting better, and I'm thrilled to see how things continue to change. It's amazing how Pilates accompanied with a well balanced diet can transform my body! After having two kids, cardio was not enough to shed the extra flab around my waist. I've heard how Pilates can transform your body by concentrating on your core stomach muscles. I've also heard how Pilates can cost a pretty penny, too. When I saw that there are group classes offered at Core Arts Pilates, I decided to give it a try. I signed up for the 10-class package, as they have a deal going on right now. I've been attending now for three weeks (two group classes a week). The time is convenient for me (8pm on Tues, 8:30pm on Wed) as my husband is home from work and the kids are already asleep when I leave for Pilates. The group classes takes up to 5 students and is offered in 30 minutes increments. Along with a balanced diet (I am not depriving myself of any food, just using portion control. Love my rice...but only one serving instead of three), in the last three weeks, I have begun to see a difference. My legs, stomach and arms are toned, beginning to form definition. Thank you to Sharmila and her friendly staff! Three weeks does not get rid of the flab around my waist. I really can't say enough about Sharmila and the entire staff at Core Arts Pilates! Originally I brought my daughter there to help with her dancing, which in itself was a great benefit to her. Unfortunately, last year she tore her ACL and required surgery. That's when we REALLY saw the benefit of Core Arts! Not only did they adjust the training for her pre-op, but as soon as she was able, Pilates and gyrotonic became an integral part of her rehab.
