I came here for a birthday party. The indoor space is really nice with several different seating options. They have a few games you can play and the bar has so many options. It was one of those super hot Portland days and luckily the inside space has a/c so it was really comfortable. The bartender was so friendly! I didn't order alcohol but I didn't hear anyone say that their drink wasn't good/strong so that's a good sign! We ate at the food carts outside. How great is the CORE?! I first happened upon them when I'd been out doing errands and needed to get my son a burrito. I ordered from Habanero burrito, then was wandering and passed Los Tamales Locas. I got one for lunch and two for later. When I tried mine, I was so glad I'd bought more to freeze - I know my tamales and these were exceptional! This time I went to get the boys chicken gyros from Noah's Halal Gyros, and myself a bowl from Fresh Fish Poke. It was raining on this visit to Core, so I followed some strangers inside the main building, which I hadn't even noted the first time (it's huge - what's wrong with me?!). Inside is really nice!! They have so many good areas to sit in and plenty of good light from outside, even in the rain. I'd had a long day at the DMV, and decided I deserved a pint from the bar inside. They have a huge selection of beers, which the server, Henry helped me pick through and decide. We ended up striking up a conversation - he was one of the owners! He couldn't have been nicer. They even have a notebook of all the food cart menus inside - if it is a wet day, I suggest going in to grab a seat and a pint, look at all your options, and enjoy! read more

We used to come here all the time, but then they shut the place down. This is The Reincarnation of the old Core Food Station. I tell you it is so much better. A lot of thoughts went into making the inside nice. I believe there are 14 food trucks here. The chances are you will find whatever your heart desires. Everyone we dealt with here was nice and friendly especially the bartender at that Pelican Beer Room. They have cider, wine, and of course beer. There were only 5 places (3 counters inside and 2 trucks outside) opened during Friday's afternoon when I dropped in. My broken rice was generous in portion and tasted okay. I wasn't fond with the caramelized plain fish sauce came with it. I wish she would've the traditional fish sauce instead. I wanted to order drink but there was many trucks opened. Overall, it was a disappointment first visit. I'm rooting for this place though and wanting to see it thrive. I hope the management and marketing for CORE step up their game! read more

It's in a good location for an impromptu meet up with friends, has great parking in the adjacent lot or on the street with easy access to all the food carts, and has a nice mix of different options for food and drink. Along with the outside tables, there's an inside area with comfortable seating as well as tables for those days when you need to get inside out of the elements. Two of the 3 of us chose Uncle Earl's BBQ and the third person chose a Vietnamese dish - so nice to be able to accommodate everyone! We went here to support Chris the bartender at the newly reinvented CORE trying to reestablish the cart pod that was nearly dead a year ago. Chris was his usual jovial self as we ordered beers from him and went to order food. I had seen a special sign for Dan Dan noodles before so I went there to order the special from a very nice young woman at the order window when from the back of the cart an angry older man was yelling about no special and ran out of the back of the cart to run into the building and return yelling that the sign wasn't there. He was incredibly rude and I have no intention of returning. The noodles were pretty good but not worth patronizing the angry, divisive guy in the that cart. While we were eating he was going around stirring up trouble with other cart s. He apparently does not like Chris and is a bit of an anti dog nazi. I might go back to again support the bar and Chris but I certainly won't be supporting the carts. The owners of the CORE should get rid of their little divisive anti dog nazi cart owner or lose their investment trying to resurrect the pod. read more

Also, plenty of parking and picnic tables for outdoor eating. Excellent place for when weather sucks (e.g., rain, too cold, too hot). When my friends say that my old hood has been opening up amazing food carts right and left, I was a little cautious at first. Then I saw the photos and high praise from some of the carts at the newish food cart pod. Right away I was impressed they have its own parking lot and plenty of outdoor and indoor seating if someone may incline. Breakside Brewery has a cart and has a great assortment of of beers to ty at around $5 a pint. There is something for everyone and I do recommend ordering a variety of items from the carts there. The vegan sushi cart is probably one of the highlights and they are a big hit in terms of flavor and unique quality. Other carts have affordable plates and both time I have been there most have been open. It looks like they are expanding so I am excited for what the future brings to one of the better food cart pods in recent memory. read more

Y'all if you haven't gotten to CORE yet GO. Period. It's got SO many great options. We usually get BKK Pad Thai, Shark's Cove and Mitate. We also got Papi Sal's this time. There is covered seating outside as well as inside. It's welcoming and comfortable. There is food for everyone as vegans, vegetarians, carnivores and omnivores can all find great food here. Parking is pretty easy for the most part but this pod has indoor and air conditioned seating too. Which sets it apart from many. We have only eaten outside but it's always clean and comfortable. It's definitely my personal favorite, since it's where Mitate resides, which is my favorite spot to eat out in Portland. Or maybe anywhere actually! CORE is fantastic so get there! read more

Heard about this POD and paid a visit for afternoon lunch. There is parking available on the premises. There are roughly 8-10 food carts with a lot of variety. These are the cuisines here: Mediterranean, Thai, Russian, Hawaian, Singapore, a Sandwich shop and beer on tap. If I have to get one dish that would be Falafel (5/5) super crunchy and had ton of flavor. Its a must try. The Hong Kong Style Noodles (5/5) was also great. Ton of flavor and good portion. The Hainan chicken was good but it need the additional sauces to get a flavor (4/5). The Kai Platter is ok, but the spring rolls are amazing (5/5). I think all the carts I tasted today took a blood oath to have flavorless food here. Kai's stir-fry had absolutely no flavor in their chicken lowmein and shrimp fried rice. No green onions in the pale white rice but full of shrimp. The lowmein looks good but has no scent , let alone flavor. Again, generous with the meat and veggies in this case. Nice bouncy noodle. Nice sheen and cook of the food, but no soul. No garlic, onion, or basic salt and pepper. The birrea place was the WORST! As we know birrea is all the new craze, and whether you go to PDX Birrea (162nd/the best and the biggest portions), or LaPlaza on 146th/Stark, you can't say that either are not genuinely delicious. The birrea place here is the opposite tasting of either of the forementioned. While beautifully plated, that is where the pleasure ends. The birrea tastes of only boiled COW . No resemblance of flavor. No salt & pepper, no onions, seasonings. No rich dark succulent color. Plain shredded boiled heifer. Yuck yuck yuck. I can't believe someone would serve that. Only seemed to be manned by an elderly woman, I figured the flavors would taste even better than the top two places in SE. I was wrong. For pure disappointment , go here. The Chicken and Guns food truck isn't operational and that sucks. The dining hall is clean and offers step activated hand sanitizer. The picnic benches are kept clean, but have sharp edges that jaunt out at the base and you can easily stub your toe like I did mine. The 82nd street entrance is closed, and I am sure that's to keep transients out. Good! They have bathrooms inside the dining hall. Not a ton of flies which is good considering it is accessible from the outside. Will I be back, most likely not. You can walk through the entire way and not smell a thing cooking. Most of the owners and operators don't look up from their phones or the disinterested staff hangs out in the rear of the trucks. Can't tell who is open or not. No engaging staff and not a star in the pod. Hopefully it will get better and those renting out spaces will taste test their occupiers. Lastly, DripNCrab: DripNCrab's seafood Cajun pasta. Creamy, good ingredients, but lack of flavor. No holy trinity of celery/bell pepper/onion. Nothing Cajun about it but the ingredients. You can taste the sausage, bland, but tender chicken, and shrimp individually, but the flavors don't marry together in any way. Nice Aldente noodle. A bit cold. Staff had window shut and were on their phones in the rear of the truck. I kept walking. My fiance walked to the back and knocked on the ajar doors, and asked if they were open. They said yes, and went back to their phones. Eventually they came and opened the window and took his order. Considering the pod as a whole: Two stars for how many were closed. Four stars for the venue. Two stars for food selection, taste, and service. You can tell your on 82nd. Let's just say that much. read more

The food at the Birrea place was absolutely AMAZING. I can't remember what it was called but they gave really generous portions for how it was priced and the flavor was great. The food was delicious...once we took it away, ears ringing, from the atrociously loud live music. We were hoping for a nice dinner with our out of town family in an open air setting. Ordering was beyond difficult; we couldn't hear the truck operators. We sat tense, waiting for our food, as far from the music as we could get.
