Three years ago, while living in the area, I searched for the best veterinarian in town and found…read moreDr. Campos after reading about his outstanding reputation. Now I can confidently say he's not just the best in the area -- he's the best in Florida. Even after moving to Orlando and being three hours away, I still only see him. Recently, my 11-year-old dog P. with heart and kidney failure developed facial swelling from an inflamed tooth. I was forced to take her to a local clinic, where I was quickly presented with multiple recommendations -- bloodwork, anesthesia, cardiology referrals, and specialty appointments totalizing thousands of dollars. With a fragile senior dog who cannot safely undergo surgery, this felt overwhelming. I left with antibiotics and immediately scheduled an appointment with Dr. Campos. The next day, I drove three hours to see Dr Campos. He examined P. thoroughly, considered her full medical history, and handled the issue right there in the office -- no pressure, no unnecessary add-ons. That is the difference. Dr. Campos practices with integrity and sound judgment, thinking about safety and quality of life first. I will always make the drive for him and his incredible team -- Ryan, Tonya, Katie, and Angelei -- who are caring, responsive, and truly exceptional. Forever grateful for a clinic that practices medicine with heart.

We returned on 5/8 because his condition appeared to be worsening. After spinal and hind-end X-rays were taken, we were told he had a leg injury along with VDD. Once again, we were instructed to continue medication and bed rest at home. From 5/8 through 5/25, our dog experienced both good and bad days, which we believed could be expected given the diagnosis. However, yesterday we decided to seek a second opinion because his condition had become significantly worse. Within the first ten minutes of the physical examination, the new veterinarian discovered a lump along his spine and requested that we obtain the X-rays previously taken by VCA. After reviewing those X-rays, we learned that our dog had a tumor pressing against his spine, which was causing neurological complications and other serious issues. Unfortunately, due to the severity and terminal nature of the condition, we were left with the heartbreaking decision to euthanize him. We understand that veterinarians are human and mistakes can happen. However, it is deeply concerning that multiple professionals evaluated our dog and this critical issue was overlooked. Had we not pursued a second opinion, our dog would have continued to suffer unnecessarily.

She never would have hurt the rabbit just wanted to run with it. She ran aside them before. She didn't clear the porch and her back was broken. I had to make a stretcher to get her to our vet. Our vet was excellent but said she had to be put to sleep. I took her to 3 other well respected vets that said the same thing. Then I was so desperate I called a mobile vet. I never heard of I didn't want to lose this beautiful loving dog. She said the same thing best to put asleep. I said please isn't there something can be done. She told me she doesn't know if it could work but she is hearing acupuncture may do what they can't do. She told me she didn't know of any but maybe I could find one. I did it was a small ride and the doctor there looked at her x rays and treated her gave me two different kinds of medicines and told me to try to keep her still so we put a fluffy comforter down and fenced off a small hall way with pee pee pads. He set an appointment to see her again in a week we bought her for another treatment and in a week after that (2 total weeks) she was standing and getting about a little but it was obviously working. We went for one more acupuncture treatment. Some medicine and Elfie recovered her back had a noticable bend to it but she returned to walking again and eventually running. I thought it was a true miracle. She lived happily walking and running, giving and getting love for another few years. Then a decade later I got a puppy that was 1/2 cane corso and went from a baby to 80 pounds always healthy always agile. Went to bed healthy and when we woke up she couldn't stand she didn't have the use of her 2 back legs. There was no yelping or screaming and it seemed crazy how could this happen. My husband carried her into the car and to the vet's where the vet did an x-ray and found she had bad spondylosis that never until that morning ever even show any visible discomfort to her with walking, running, never limping or anything till that morning where out of the blue she couldn't move her legs. The vet told us we could try surgery that would be at the very least $10,000 and might not work or put her to sleep. I told the vet I didn't want to do either I shared the story of our Elfie and said I'm going to see if that acupuncture vet is still there. We carried her into his office he treated her and using a sling she was able to stand & walk using only her front legs, but wouldn't be able to without the assist. The next week we still used the sling but it was apparent one of her legs resumed some strength. We took her for a few more visits and she no longer needed a sling she was able to walk again on her own. I never believed in acupuncture but now whenever I see a dog who may be put down I try to advise people there is a very good chance of hope I have seen 2 miracles in my lifetime of 2 beautiful dogs that would have had their lives ended by what is considered the best of care. The vet that I owe both my dogs their lives to is Dr. Gerald Johnson of the Silverthorne Animal Clinic located at 14263 Powell Rd, Spring Hill, FL 34609 Their phone # is (352)345-4830. I am so thankful for the wonderful years added to their lives that my dogs received only because of his practice. He has another wonderful woman vet there too and I'm sorry I don't remember her name but she was truly very good & very caring. All I can say is you will get wonderful care there that truly works and in my case literally saved my both dogs lives!

During Bentley's tenure up until last year, there has never been any issues with this office. A growth was discovered in Bentley's mouth that was about the size of a blackberry. It inhibited his ability to eat and chew normally and the growth appeared to be agitated. Bentley was seen for an initial examination and Dr. Gibson advised to not remove it, but to monitor it and see if it grows. A few months had passed and it surely did grow to double the size .To be proactive, I went ahead and went to the VCA San Francis Animal Hospital (16901 Shady Hills Rd Spring Hill, FL 34610) for a second opinion. They advised it needed to be removed due to the color and location of the growth. It was scheduled the next day and was removed. While Bentley underwent surgery, x rays were performed on his legs to determine why he had recently started to limp and stagger while walking/standing. Come to find out, Bentley had a torn ACL and would require additional surgery. Keep in mind Dr. Gibson does not perform major surgeries, and Bentley underwent TPLO surgery with a different office. Prior to the surgery, Bentley's records were requested from Garrison Animal Hospital. Now following both surgeries and ample recovery time, it was time to get Bentley's up to date vaccines scheduled. I contacted Garrison Animal Hospital multiple times to try and make an appointment. I was told that I would be called back, given the run-around, and yet they never did. After the fourth phone call attempt, l finally got in touch with Sam and he stated that I went to "multiple locations for a second opinion" (which is false) and was advised that I need to continue all services with another veterinarian. It was stated that since I got a second opinion, that there is no "trust". As any dog owner like you would do with your own child, I am entitled to receive a second opinion regarding my dog's health and well being at my leisure. The immaturity and outright disrespect I have received over multiple phone conversations is astounding. Because my dog underwent services somewhere else for issues not related to general wellness, I am to be denied service to vaccinate my dog? I was told that there are no openings and they don't know when they could see Bentley. Sam, the practice manager, was rude and instructed by Dr. Gibson to deny service. Their negligence and discrimination against myself and my dog will not go unnoticed. I am appalled and hope this serves as a warning to anyone potentially bringing their pet to Garrison Animal Hospital.

I brought my 13 yr dog in months ago bc she wasn't acting right, I explained that I thought she was having seizures (spinning in circles and having trouble standing) and that she was hiding in weird places (laundry baskets and closets) and for reference on the size she's a husky mix) and they told me it was just her hips bc she's old and sent me off with anti inflammatories. Well I brought her in again and tried asking more questions like if she could have a brain tumor or if we could do something more for her, they dismissed my concerns and told me that was not what it was and they just raised the dose and told us to bring her in again if she had any problems. Well she's dead, I had to watch as she violently seized and gasped for breath and died in my arms. This could have been avoided if they had taken me seriously then if they told me she needed to be euthanized she wouldn't have had to go through that I am so beyond pissed off I will NEVER go back. On another note I brought my cat in a month ago as well and waited 2 HOURS for her to get her routine vaccines then they tried to tell me she needed $600 worth of testing bc they thought they heard a heart murmur, safe to say I'm going to go somewhere else for more testing.
