This is to serve as a formal complaint against Dr. Gibson and their practice manager Sam. My dog Bentley has been going to Garrison Animal Hospital (13170 Spring Hill Dr Spring Hill, FL 34609) for 10 years and with the original veterinarian Dr. Jones. During Bentley's tenure up until last year, there has never been any issues with this office. A growth was discovered in Bentley's mouth that was about the size of a blackberry. It inhibited his ability to eat and chew normally and the growth appeared to be agitated. Bentley was seen for an initial examination and Dr. Gibson advised to not remove it, but to monitor it and see if it grows. A few months had passed and it surely did grow to double the size .To be proactive, I went ahead and went to the VCA San Francis Animal Hospital (16901 Shady Hills Rd Spring Hill, FL 34610) for a second opinion. They advised it needed to be removed due to the color and location of the growth. It was scheduled the next day and was removed. While Bentley underwent surgery, x rays were performed on his legs to determine why he had recently started to limp and stagger while walking/standing. Come to find out, Bentley had a torn ACL and would require additional surgery. Keep in mind Dr. Gibson does not perform major surgeries, and Bentley underwent TPLO surgery with a different office. Prior to the surgery, Bentley's records were requested from Garrison Animal Hospital. Now following both surgeries and ample recovery time, it was time to get Bentley's up to date vaccines scheduled. I contacted Garrison Animal Hospital multiple times to try and make an appointment. I was told that I would be called back, given the run-around, and yet they never did. After the fourth phone call attempt, l finally got in touch with Sam and he stated that I went to "multiple locations for a second opinion" (which is false) and was advised that I need to continue all services with another veterinarian. It was stated that since I got a second opinion, that there is no "trust". As any dog owner like you would do with your own child, I am entitled to receive a second opinion regarding my dog's health and well being at my leisure. The immaturity and outright disrespect I have received over multiple phone conversations is astounding. Because my dog underwent services somewhere else for issues not related to general wellness, I am to be denied service to vaccinate my dog? I was told that there are no openings and they don't know when they could see Bentley. Sam, the practice manager, was rude and instructed by Dr. Gibson to deny service. Their negligence and discrimination against myself and my dog will not go unnoticed. I am appalled and hope this serves as a warning to anyone potentially bringing their pet to Garrison Animal Hospital. read more

This is the second time they have been amazing. A few years back my 18 yo Dachshund was suffering and I finally accepted I needed to put him down so took him to hernando animal hospital who had cared for him his entire life. They spent 2 hours attempting to start an in with my dog in agony and then handed him back and said they couldn't help and to try the after hours vet !?! I called many other local vets who all wanted me to make an appointment a few days later to establish my dog as a patient and then proceed but I didn't have that kind of time. Garrisons heard my story and said come here we will help. They were amazing. Gave ozzy a im injection and got him comfortable and then did the iv. I am a paramedic and wanted to be with him so they allowed me to hold him and did the procedure. They were very compassionate and have earned my business and care for my 1 current dogs. Today they came to the rescue again. They are amazing Today I found a dog that had been run over and killed in my neighborhood. I went door to door unable to find owner so called garrisons and they said to bring him in. They identified a chip and will hold the poor fella while we attempt to locate the owner. We had to put our sweet pup down due to infection. The kindness and empathy that the staff showed us was incredible, they made us feel as if they were mourning right along side us. They gave us all the time we needed to say goodbye, they also sent us a card with paw prints and a nose print of our sweet girl a few days later. That meant the world to us. The only thing I can say that is slightly negative, is that the Vet herself is a little cold. She doesn't have the greatest bedside manner. She is knowledgeable, and does a good job, she just needs to work on the bedside manner. The rest of the staff though is remarkable. read more

Garrison's provided the compassion and care we needed going out of their way to assist us. I had taken our 19 yo dachshund hound to be euthanized at his life long vets and spent over 2 hours in the office while they had our poor dog in the back attempting to establish an IV. In the end they returned our dog and suggested we take him to the after hours vet 4 hrs later when they opened. We left with Ozzy looking like a pin cushion and in more distress than when he arrived. Upon calling Garrison's, they listened to our situation and had us come right in. They compassionately explained the process and handled our dog with loving care. They painless ended his suffering while we cradled him and allowed us all the time we needed prior to assuring we had all we needed when we left. Last week we took a 13 week old puppy here after he showed signs of sickness the prior weekend. Dr. Jones decided that it was best to only treat symptoms of nausea & not actually take a moment to figure out what the problem was. Turns out the puppy had the Parvo virus & ended up dying days after. I do completely hold them accountable because if they simply cared they would have done bloodwork & our puppy may have had a fighting chance if caught early on. After trying to speak with them, the doctors & office manager basically refused to take or return my calls. The vet tech & receptionist both admitted the bloodword was never completed & still refused to return the dirty & dishonest money that they collected. I was also informed that Dr. Jones "retired" shortly after our puppy was seen so that's both convenient & sketchy. The receptionist expressed that she wished we had ended up seeing a different doctor for things to possibly have turned out differently. You & your pet deserve so much better than this practice can even attempt to provide. They lack basic medical skill, professionalism, compassion, honesty, & empathy. SHAME! ON GARRISON ANIMAL HOSPITAL on Spring Hill Dr! They have been our vet for 1 1/2 yrs UNTIL WEDNESDAY! 2 of our dogs got into a 30 second scuffle on Wednesday. I pulled our bigger dog off Shelby, our 13 yr old Chihuahua and was going to scold her until I saw a TREMENDOUS amount of blood on the floor. I grabbed Shelby and blood was POURING out of her eye and her eyeball was HANGING OUT!!! I YELLED FOR MY HUBBY. We flew out of here, both in our slippers. I called our vet, Garrison Animal Hospital on the way, to tell them we would be there in a few and what to expect They told me they would be closing in 20 minutes and we would have to take her to emergency vet on Deltona! I could not believe it!! So in my panic and tears, I turned around n headed for Deltona but called Garrison back to get address This guy gave it to me but then told me they did not open until 5! I lost it n was crying even more. I said we can't wait til 5. Her eyeball is hanging out and she will bleed to death! CANT WE BRING HER TO YOU???? He said, hold on....then never came back!!! I called back and told them I would be picking up all of my animals records and would blast this all over social media!!! And hung up!! I pulled in to what I thought was emergency vet but it was vet across from emergency Animal Medical Clinic at 3449 Deltona Blvd We could see people still inside and sign said honk for assistance So I laid on the horn!! Gals came running out and got Shelby and rushed her in They got bleeding to stop and gave her numbing shot for the pain. DR Moore then talked to us and said eye had to be removed Said it looked like it actually popped out. There were no bite marks. ANIMAL MEDICAL CLINIC was sent to us by God! They called emergency vet to alert them. Said it was better now to go there cause they did not have overnight staff if she had to stay over after surgery and price both places would be about the same. So over to emergency vet we went. She went into surgery about 6:30. She made it through and is now home! Has collar. Antibiotics and pain meds. There is NO EXCUSE for what Garrison Animal Hospital did!!! They were our vet! They were the closest! Yet they were not willing to stay past 5pm to save our fur baby!!!! Its outrageous! I posted review on their FB page and they responded saying I called at 10 mins til 5. I responded back with my phone records and they deleted it! read more

I took my beloved dog Lily a couple of weeks ago. We had previously been going to All pets on 54 in NPR where she got diagnosed with Lymphoma. Our experience there was nothing short of AWFUL, which led to me searching for a new vet. It was nothing short of a blessing that found Garrison animal hospital. The care, kindness and compassion they exhibited was truly touching. They hadn't seen Lily before...didn't know us at ALL... But took 45 minutes explaining the disease, what to expect, examining her.. true care with an honest interest in her well being... Not my pocketbook. EVERYONE from the first phone call, To checking in, to the wonderful doctor who we saw exemplifies what a vet should be. I can't thank them enough for the kindness they gave us. All pets needs to give them a call and find out how to treat people. I've been thru it with local vets... Substandard and lax.... But for a mere 20 minutes up here... It was SOOO worth it. Apparently they fix animals for rescues at 8 weeks old or less! Any DVM (if someone there actually has a doctorate) worth their salt knows it should be 6 months at the earliest!!! My 12 week old pup now has odd lumps under his skin around his genital area that still seem to bother him. I've had neutered and intact dogs before and I've never seen anything like what they did to this poor baby! Truly awful! read more

Garrison Animal Hospital KILLED my Papillon Service Dog 100%. They diagnosed her as having epilepsy & told me to give her 1/2 of a phenobarbital. IF you do a general search on the internet and ask "Can a Senior dog develop epilepsy" you will get EVERY answer "NO" - that is what they stated she had. The medication they gave her caused her such a violent reaction; she seized non-stop for hours-until I took her to the Emergency Hospital as she SCREAMED deafening level in agony & pain non-stop. Dr. Jones was aware of the reaction at 511 pm on a Friday (they are open until 530) & promised to call & monitor her -NOT ONE Phone Call was Recd. When I called them on Monday to cancel her Thurs. appt. I told them that Lexus was DEAD 100% thanks to them, that they misdiagnosed her, wrong med & it caused her to "cook from the inside" and burned out her organs - it was an AGONIZING death. The Emergency Hospital of Hernando doctor spent 14 hrs to try to save her, ease her pain, reduce the body temperature, but when I went to sign the papers she was brain dead just breathing - that 5 lb papillon suffered SO MUCH. When I asked them WHY not ask me to bring her back at 5 pm when you were still open and heard her screaming, the receptionist told me "We were trying to get out early on Friday". At no point did she EVER say I'm so sorry, the word sympathy, zip - then she stated I was on the "Weekend Call List" & had been called-contrary to our smart phones call history logs-they LIED to me as they NEVER called me or why would I have to call them to cancel her appt. for tomorrow? They killed my dog and I learned that this place should be shut down and I fully intend to report Dr. Cohen to the authorities for his malpractice. STAY AWAY from this place if you want your loved one to live and thrive. GO ELSEWHERE & before you give ANY medication to your loved one - RESEARCH online what any Vet has told you and side effects of meds prescribed. Dogs/Cats cannot talk-so these Vets are not Perfect; but this one is SO FAR OFF and their lack of empathy when notified is mortifying - they LIED about every thing. Had I done research online for 10 minutes, I NEVER would have given her the 1/2 pill and she still would be alive and wouldn't have suffered a slow, PAINFUL death that only Jeffrey Dahmer and the Son of Sam deserves! read more
