I took the basic class and learned how to uses aperture priority, shutter speed, "film" speed (ISO) and metering. I think the comprehensive class which is an addition $30 should be included in the price of the beginning class and available for anyone who has taken the beginning class to take anytime it's available after said beginning class. That is my only suggestion. read more

They are patient, graciously repeat information and make the learning hands-on so you not just hear the information but immediately try it out. Really great class - would highly recommend to anyone with a desire to learn about their camera. Reading your manual is one thing but having a pro show you - hands on with your own camera - exactly what you need to know is really special. I had wanted to take a photography class for a long time, but didn't want to attend a course at a local college or go to some snooty photography session. This was just what I was looking for - something small, casual, and taught in a format where your questions were welcomed and where you were respected. Such an amazing class! I took the four hour comprehensive class, and I honestly have not one negative thing to say. My friend and I had been talking about taking a photography class for awhile, and when we stumbled upon Cork and Click, we couldn't think of a better way to learn a new skill than to pair it with a wine tasting. I came to class as a very new beginner (I had literally never turned on my camera before). The class was not intimidating at all, and Christiana and Ben were so helpful and friendly. The class size is only 8 people, so they can individually provide hands on experience with each student. I never felt rushed or hesitant to ask questions. The wine tasting definitely added a new element of fun and friendliness to the class, too. Christiana led the class, and you can tell that she has such a passion for the craft and is just excited to share her learning experience and the knowledge she's gained over the years. I left the class feeling like I had enough knowledge to start taking up photography as a hobby and can easily reach out if I have a question in the future. I was curious about all of the buttons and functions of my camera and the little icons on the screen - what did they all mean? I read the manual and watched an instructional DVD, but still didn't understand. At the Cork & Click beginners class, Christiana and Ben explained everything simply and perfectly. The class size was small, which gave Christiana and Ben the opportunity to offer one-on-one tutoring, but also gave us the time to learn from others in the group. I have taken the basic and comprehensive class with Cork and Click and loved them both. I do plan on taking more classes when my schedule allows. I have been complimented on my photography (I use it as a wallpaper on work monitor) and have even been asked to take photos at the next team event, and here's the best thing - I actually feel like I could call Christina for insight and tips on how to take candid photos at an event! Beginning Photography Class Review If you are interested in learning about the basics of manual photography, this is the Beginner's Class to take! I've had my Canon DSLR camera for some years now and really needed a refresher course on everything. The instructor, Christiana, was excellent. The class was small (we had 7 people), so there was lots of one-on-one help for each of us. She reviewed "photography phrases", reviewed camera parts, she taught us camera settings (and what each one does), and showed us her photo examples. My favorite part was the "hands-on learning"- we were able to practice setting our aperture, ISO, and shutter speeds, and take photos. Christiana checked in with each of us to make sure we were getting the exposures right. I learn best by doing things, so this practice helped make more sense of everything for me! And it's was extremely helpful to have Christiana at my (our) side if I had any questions or needed help with adjusting my settings. She explained things that better helped me understand the concepts more clearly. She also gave us "gifts"- keychain camera cheat cards that reminds us of the concepts we learned. We were able to do some wine tasting during class too. *Two thumbs up!* I highly recommend this class. I am interested in taking the other classes offered by Cork and Click. read more

Great class you leave really being able to use all of your settings and inspired as well. I feel like this class is going to change how I document my life and my loved ones as well. This class...What can I say. THE MOST OUTSTANDING EXPERIENCE! Cristiana was such a great teacher. She's fun, upbeat, and makes the learning process so much fun. There were only 5 people in the class which made it so great to get a one on one experience with the teacher. By far the most fun and informational Saturday afternoon I have ever spent in Woodinville! Christiana and Ben are both very approachable and welcoming, and they set me at ease from the very start of the class. I have had my Nikon DSLR for about five years now and have enjoyed trying to figure things out on my own - I have read and researched a lot about my camera and photography, but still manage to get more shots I am critical of than ones I love. Even with my own unguided practice there was so much I was getting wrong, and I had no idea why or how to fix it. Christiana and Ben fixed two major problems in the first hour of class. It was amazing! The simple hands on exercises and the straightforward way of explaining rather complex settings and functions was incredibly helpful. Learning how to make my camera do what I want with a few simple pushes of its myriad of buttons is life changing for me. It's now 9am on the Sunday morning after my class and I can't wait to go to the mall when it opens to get my new strap and lens so I can go out and PLAY and PRACTICE with my seemingly brand new camera. I feel like it is a completely different piece of equipment now that I understand more how to use it to accomplish my own vision. I was mentally preparing myself for a technical, boring/formal classroom experience and hoped the wine would add some fun. Wow--I totally wrong about the boring and formal part of that! Both Christiana and Ben were very friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere was very relaxed and informal. Christiana taught the class in a manner that made "technical" instructions very easy to understand for every day camera users. After learning about a camera setting, we would take pictures applying what we learned. Not only did I learn how to take better pictures, I learned a lot about my camera that I hadn't used much on anything other than auto since I was confused by all the settings. The class is great! I've had a DSLR for a while and really want to do more with it! Christina taught the class in a structured and relaxing way. The hands-on exercises also helped us apply the newly-acquired techniques right away. I felt much more confident going to the M, Av, Tv modes on my Canon after the class! After being gifted my first DSLR camera I was so eager to learn more about how to shoot in manual and manipulate and master my camera. I took their Basic Photography Class. This class was just what I was looking for. I was given hands on coaching in a language I could understand. Christiana was amazing! She tended to each participant to give 1 on 1 coaching as we had different cameras as well as different levels of knowledge and ability. She was there for everyone! She had an assistant Alex who offered amazing coaching and tips as well. I was concerned I wouldn't be able to keep up, but the class size was perfect and they provided great support. Christiana had user friendly practical not books prepared for purchase that I carry with me now everywhere I go! I cannot wait to sign up for their portrait, editing and night classes! The wine was delicious as well! I recommend the cabernet if you like a nice dry full bodied red. I loved this experience! read more

I took the 4 hour class last Saturday and I absolutely loved it. I learned a lot and I am no longer intimidated by my camera. My best friend surprised me with the class for my birthday and we had a blast. I had a great time at the beginner's class. The classes are small and very hands on. It was good to actually use my camera with the guidance of two instructors. I had taken another class when I first purchased my Canon DSLR a year and a half ago. The instructor talked so far over my head I ended up putting my camera back in the case for a year and a half. Since purchasing a DSLR camera nearly a year ago I was still using the automatic settings so when I ran across Cork & Click I knew I had to give it a try. With that said, this November I took Cork & Click's Comprehensive Class and found it extremely worthwhile. As a visual learner this was the perfect class as we were given practical but not too techy instructions and then practiced it on the spot. Wanting a bit more instruction on night photography I reached out to Christiana this New Year and scheduled a private class which was a lot of fun. We lucked out with a clear winter night and practiced shooting the sunset along the Kirkland waterfront then hopped on a pedestrian bridge over 405 and learned how to shoot time lapsed images. I am looking forward to seeing what future classes are offered and practicing my new found skills on an upcoming trip to Ecuador! I can't recommend these classes enough! read more
