The shrimp and pork soup dumplings were quite good though. The chicken drunken noodles were ok but they needed some spice/heat. Not bad- just needed more flavor. Service was friendly but a little slow - not the food prep part- but getting refills of water and our chili crisp jar was empty, and it took a while for us to get the bill. I had heard all the hype around Corner Dumpling House and it did not disappoint. We ordered three types of dumplings: fried spicy beef buns, pork dumplings in chili oil, and pork and shrimp soup dumplings. The buns were good, but the other two absolutely shined. For the chili oil dumplings, the silky dumpling wrapper was the perfect vehicle for the spicy oil and tasty filling. And the soup dumplings are a dish I will still be dreaming about later: perfect wrapper, tasty meat filling, and the most flavorful slurp of soup I've had in some time. Those soup dumplings are one of my favorite dishes I've eaten in Cincinnati. For entrees, we ordered the shrimp drunken noodles and diced chicken with hot pepper, and they were both delicious but the portions are large so we took enough home for another meal! We had a short wait for a table at 6pm on a Thursday night, but it looked like the wait was longer when we left. Don't let the wait deter you - this is well worth the wait! Fantastic place! Menu is a bit overwhelming. We shared the pork dumplings in chili oil. My husband ordered a sizzling beef dish and asked for extra vegetables. So tender and delicious. I ordered the Szechuan fried fish comes with a ton of hot peppers. I added some vinegar that was on the table and it made the flavor pop. Friends got the lo mein and the Dan Dan noodles. Portions are large and food comes out super fast. Great service very nice decor. Finished with the sesame balls for dessert. Place fills up quickly. No reservations taken. They have beer and wine. We were seated quickly at a table for two, and the server promptly brought us menus. The menus were extensive!! The server happily explained the menu and answered our questions. Of course, we had to order soup dumplings! I liked that there was an explanation of how to eat the dumpling on the menu. I had no idea that you're suppose to take a bite off the top and drink the soup first. Then they provide a small cup with slivered ginger in it. You add the dumpling sauce from a carafe on the table. Then, you dip the dumpling in it and eat it! Delicious!! We also ordered a pan-fried dumpling that was also really good. Loved the crispy outside! We wanted to try a variety of items so we ordered the mapo tofu and Drunken Noodles with shrimp. It was way too much food for the two of us, but we love having leftovers! This is such a great addition for authentic Chinese food in Cincinnati. The restaurant seems to be inspired by Din Tai Fung. They don't have the traditional dim sum dishes. For 2 people, we got an order of the pork soup dumpling, truffle pork soup dumpling, wontons in chili oil, shrimp shumai, and a beef drunken noodle. The pork soup dumpling was the best one. I wouldn't splurge for the truffle pork dumpling- there was no truffle flavor at all. The chili oil for the wontons didn't have any specific flavor. We got there right at 5 pm and got seated right away but by 5:30 there was a wait. While they are well staffed the service is choppy. Our waitress was helpful pointing out things on the Dim Sum menu to try. We had the steamed crab meat and pork soup dumplings, the pan fried pork dumplings and the scallion pancake. We also had an order of chicken fried rice and drunken noodles with chicken. The food just comes out randomly and is dropped off by a guy. There is no order to how the food comes out. They delivered the scallion pancake then the drunken noodles, then the soup dumplings and then the fried rice followed by the pork dumplings. The dumplings and the drunken noodles were good and worthy of a four, but the chicken fried rice had no flavor and was not worth a two. How hard is it to make chicken fried rice? On top of that every time the door opens there is this loud annoying beep. At least I think it was coming from the door. I am not saying don't try this place but don't believe all the hype. Their menu was extensive with excellent descriptions and photos making it hard to choose.
