An awesome Sheriffs Deputy pulled up behind us, made a couple of calls, and in less than 10 minutes we had our spare tire on the car and the two absolutely lovely gentlemen from Baldwin's Towing and Food Stand were asking us to follow them up the road about 1/4 mile. We bought some huge tomatoes, honey, and salad dressing and we gave them more than the very small amount they asked for. Driving back home, I told my husband we now have a food stand to stop at whenever we come to Sperryville - which is every couple of months.

The hours at this store are impressive - 8am to 8pm 7 days a week. The owners are definitely hard workers! I didn't meet Janet but Roy was to the point when I asked questions. A bushel is $36, and a half bushel is $18. A half bushel bag is a lot smaller than the box that they call a bushel, so we decided to buy a bushel. You can fill the box up with whichever apples you want. They have a big selection of apples, including some I'd never heard of (eg, Virginia Gold). Roy was attentive and told me when the box was full and that I should stop adding apples. It wasn't quite all the way to the top, but it was still a good deal. If I'm in the area, I'll probably stop by again!

Pies, smoothies, trifles, ice cream. Yum!! We purchased a bushel of apples on our last visit, which we cored/peeled/sliced using an inexpensive gadget from Target or Ace Hardware(?). Froze on cookie sheets then transferred to gallon bags. We bought some that were a bit soft for pie--maybe because we froze them?--but are great dehydrated (for us & our dogs!) or made into apple butter. (Pies? Ask for the firmest apple.)

The orchards have several apple varieties, are well maintained and easy to navigate. The price is quite reasonable, you pay by choosing between three sizes of bags to pick the apples. They have picnic shelters and several playgrounds for kids that are free. Kids can also participate in a tractor ride in individual cars that are pulled by a riding lawn mower. We didn't see a full size tractor ride however. If you come hungry, try their apple cider donuts, slushies and ice cream. All of it is really good!
