Food is ok. Just ok. Service was terrible and wait person very rude. No ambiance but that doesn't bother me. It does bother me that we got lectured about "no ice". She spoke very little English and pointed to a sign about the ice/lack there of. This was our first time there so there was a lot to take in and we didn't understand at first. We went to this place on Saturday. They asked if we wanted a table of booth. We said booth. There were 2 other booths with people in them. They had their food. We waited and waited and waited and waited. A man walked in. She said hahaha you want the same as always. He said yes. She put his order in. Then another man came in. She waited on him. We waited in the booth for about 25 minutes she waited on another person that came in. We said to each other "Oh, that's it. Let's go. We got up to leave and as we walked out the door someone from the kitchen said "Hey, where you going?". we didn't answer, just left. We will never go back there. The place is very dark inside. The inside is run down and in need of help. The service here is horrible. The lady taking the orders and preparing to go orders is irritable and angry. You should not get upset and angry if a customer asks you about a dish. If you have a menu that has no explanation of what is in the dish the customer is going to ask you questions. She rolled her eyes at my husband and me for asking basic questions like what vegetables are in the dish? Is it spicy? Is it sweet? Timing is an issue as well, it took over 30 minutes for a to go order. There were people that came in after us that were sitting down at a table and ordered and they had gotten their food and finished their meal before we got our food to go and we ordered before them. If you can handle the attitude of the staff and want mediocre food then go ahead and eat here, otherwise stay away. We will definitely make the drive out of town for Asian food from now on. read more

Had two lunch specials. Rice was dry and the sesame chicken and general Tso were to tough to cut with the plastic knives provided! Arte here 20 years ago when the food was delicious. New owners either serving leftovers from several days or need to learn to cook. Will not go back! read more

This is a restaurant that has optimized its resources to keep low prices on good food. When you dine in, the food comes in to-go containers and you eat with plastic cutlery. The pros is you can take everything home without asking for a box and the restaurant doesn't have any dishes to wash. I get it. Being an individual interested in quality of food above the experience of dining at a restaurant on dinnerware with metal cutlery. The staff is nice. I take out from this restaurant often because the food is always good and the price point is more reasonable than others. The food is authentic and I appreciate it for what it is. If you eat at Chen's, shift your expectations of a typical sit-down restaurant and just enjoy the food. My biggest complaint is that all the drinks are either in bottles or cans, meaning you'll have to pay for water since they don't have tap and they don't have hot tea. I understand no tea because it's the area and everyone in NE Texas prefers iced tea but I'm Asian and grew up drinking hot tea with my meals so that was a downer for me. Ultimately, I'll keep coming back to Chen's because I really like the food but there's little point for me to dine in here all things considered. read more

All food is served in to go boxes with plastic silverware whether you are dining in or not. None of the food has flavor and rice was overcooked. We ordered general tso's chicken and orange chicken and both were the exact same thing except one had an orange slice in the sauce and the other one had a pepper. All drinks were served in either a bottle or can, we couldn't even get a tap water. The servers were rude, the food sucked and it was a waste of time and money. read more

Better than Panda Express and half the price! If you're craving Chinese and don't want to hurt your wallet, this is the place to go. I got the lover's chicken lunch. All of my chicken was good. Some of the rice was a little hard, but still good especially for the price. It filled me up. It's worth noting they only have cans and bottles for drinks, but a bottle of water did come with the lunch plate. If you decide to go, be careful not to drive past it. It's on a 1 way road so you'll have some extra driving to get back to it. read more

Trying out for lunch. Service: Our server was a nice young guy. No issues with service. Food: Drinks - all are cans or bottles and there is no ice or cups. Appetizers - we ordered spring rolls and I ordered egg drop soup. Lunch - I ordered general tso chicken and my husband got the orange chicken. (Both lunch specials.) All was just okay nothing to write home about. This place is not for us. Atmosphere: There is some work that could happen on the inside. This food is ok, not great. Very saucy. They give you a lot of it so bang for buck is a plus. They serve everything in Togo containers. It doesn't matter if you are dining in or not. No flatware, no plates, no glasses. If you want a drink you buy one in a bottle, including flat water. I can't imagine this is more economical than having actual plates and glasses but it's what they do. The restaurant feels like you're walking into 1992. I say this because that is the last time it was decorated. It also smells like mildew and old fryer oil so it doesn't smell very good. It was fairly clean just everything is ancient so it looks dirty. I'm pretty sure they had some permanent Christmas decorations up too. Not bad just an observation. The staff was fairly attentive but on my first visit they were not spectacular at recommending anything. Very cut and dried. About what you would expect from an old, small town restaurant. Overall the place is ok if you like big saucy "Chinese" food but it's not close to upscale (and doesn't pretend to be). They are barely ahead of fast food like Panda Express but slightly more edible than that national chain styrofoam. The plus is that if you dine in you will have leftovers because of the amount of food and you won't need to ask for a box. read more
