I've been holding this in for weeks, but I can't shake off how disturbed I felt after what I witnessed during a mid-afternoon buffet at Broadway Buffet in Sulphur Springs. That day, my wife wasn't in the mood to eat there, but she accompanied me anyway and had a hot tea while I enjoyed my meal. One thing about me when I go to a buffet--I like to get everything I want in one go, so I don't have to keep getting up. I typically have four to five plates in front of me to avoid interruptions. While getting some egg drop soup, I noticed an elderly woman across from me at the buffet. She was getting wonton soup, and since we were directly opposite each other, I greeted her politely with a "Hi, ma'am" as a sign of respect. She smiled and nodded in return. As I moved to get some steamed fish fillet, I paused because she was also serving herself. What caught my attention was how she used the wrong serving spoon, and instead of taking a small portion, she pinched off pieces of the largest fillet and dropped them into her wonton soup. I found it odd, but it wasn't my business, so I brushed it off. However, what happened next completely ruined my appetite. She reached for a piece of breaded shrimp, dipped it directly into the entire pot of sweet and sour sauce, took a bite, and then--without hesitation--dipped the same shrimp back into the sauce. To make it worse, she walked away, leaving sauce dripping everywhere. I was so disgusted that I immediately informed the owner. She acted promptly, removing the pot of sweet and sour sauce and apologizing. I paid for my meal and left, completely put off by what I had seen. To make matters worse, I later noticed the same woman picking her nose while eating. The entire experience was unsettling. I sincerely wish the restaurant would have someone stationed at the buffet to monitor such behavior. People who are that unhygienic should be removed from the establishment. Let me be clear--I'm not here to badmouth Broadway Buffet. I actually enjoy their food (though, in my opinion, China King is better), and I appreciate having a Chinese buffet nearby without having to drive far. However, this experience left a lasting impression, and I felt compelled to share it with others who dine there. read more

The food is very very good in my opinion. If you go I recommend getting the fried shrimp, chow mein and fresh seasoned fish. They always bring out the best foods around 5:00 pm. read more

Sweet and sour chicken is soggy, the honey chicken was really good. Beef and broccoli was ok, broccoli really crunchy and meat was cut super big with no flavor. I went to the Broadway Buffet on Feb. 14, 2024 to eat my Birthday Dinner!!! I arrived late, and the owner was very gracious and kind. He offered to cook me a Take Home Order. When I asked if I could go ahead and eat there, he told me to go look at the buffet. I did and saw good bit of food, so I grabbed a couple of plates. I got some of the Coconut Shrimp, and it was wonderful!!! I also got some of the Teriyaki or maybe BBQ Chicken on a stick. It was delicious so, I grabbed a couple more sticks!! I also got a nice size helping of Fried Rice, and the last helping of Broccoli Chicken!!! One of the ladies asked if I wanted more Broccoli Chicken, and I said, Yes, but the cook probably wouldn't want to cook more. She went and got the owner who ordered me some more. I had plenty of food, and every bit of it was delicious!!! They brought my order to my table, and it was a huge plate of Broccoli Chicken, freshly made!!! I asked the lady if I was going to have to pay extra for it, and she said, NO! By the time, they brought out my Broccoli Chicken, I was almost full!!! I finished most of what was on my plate. The owner came to check on me, and asked me if I wanted a To Go Box for my Broccoli Chicken. I said, Yes, Please and when he brought it, I asked if I could put some Fried Rice in my container and he said, Yes!!! I was so tickled!!! I had eaten everything except one of my Chicken Sticks (which I put in my box.) My box was so full that I didn't have room for the 2 Egg Rolls / Spring Rolls, so I wrapped them up, and asked the owner if that was okay. He said, Yes! I told him when I checked out that everything was really good!!! I thanked him for allowing to go ahead and eat even tho I arrived late! And then I told him that it was my birthday, and he wished me a Happy Birthday! The Buffet cost me $13.00 even, and my box of Broccoli Chicken was included!!! Everyone was really nice and the food was excellent!!! I had NOT eaten here much in the last couple of years, because my Chinese Food eating buddy died in a car wreck back in 2022. So, I don't make it over to Sulphur Springs much these days!!! I am so glad that I drove over to eat on my birthday this year!!! And I'll definitely be back more often!!! read more

Ordered food for take out. The hot and sour soup was just spicy without much depth of flavor. The soup at China House is definitely better. I also ordered a chicken and veggies entree. That was pretty good - seasoned well but not too salty. The steamed rice was okay though I think they put a little oil in it. Between the two Chinese buffets in town, I think this one is second to China House, but I will give them more chances in the future to impress me. read more

I'm a regular customer and have done reviews before. I only get takeout here, don't like buffets. We like the Pepper Steak a lot. Tried the Orange Chicken again but was disappointed again. Way too spicy HOT! Wonder what peppers are used, very very hot. This is not marked as HOT under Chef's Specialty's on the red takeout menu. Watch out! I tried scraping off the batter and found out less than 50% dark meat tough chicken. So, that dish is off our listb+ All battered dishes! But I think they do good on several things still. Arrived at noon on a saturday food was hot ans fresh! Great tasting as well. Would recommend the honey chicken and the noodle they have! Great pizza and frie options for picky kids as well as salad bar and a good variety of desserts. I for pne loved the apple pie! Will be back for sure! read more

Clean and slightly above average buffet service with the same waitstaff that has been there for quite awhile. The food quality is just a bit above average, and will beat any "Chinese" buffet till you get into Dallas. They have surprisingly good kimchi, normally great garlic green beans and strangely the best pico de gallo in town. The sushi is sub par grocery store level, but they keep it changed out. After a dozen or so visits I would suggest the lunch buffet over dinner for value and quality. The salad, soup, and American items are quite weak. The place is not in a nice building but everything is always clean and they are always busy. The crowd means the food is constantly put out fresh. Horrible!!! I hated paying for the buffet because the ONLY thing that was okay/edible was the crab rangoon, salad (if you wanna call it that), yogurt, fruit and hot n sour soup! Even the sweet n sour sauce to dip the egg rolls that were horrible was just plain nasty! NO SEASONINGS EVERYTHING BLAND! The meat in the dishes were questionable as to what kind of animal it came from! Worst experience EVER!!! The waitress was nice but when you go pay for the crap that the restaurant shouldve paid us to eat, the man and woman at the register dont say a word to you, take your money and give you a receipt and if youre not paying attention to get the receipt from him he says loudly and rudely HELLO! I have actually been going to the Broadway Buffet for years and I enjoy the food there it is always good and fresh how can some one honestly say it looks fresh and appealing then say it is tasteless and bland. This place has a variety of great food to eat for a reasonable price of about 10.00$ a person. Way better then china house a few miles away.
