Warning: Don't go here unless you want to stink like an ashtray when you leave. My kids are now crying because their hair, clothes, and lovies smell like cigarette smoke. First impression--it looked sketchy. Walking into a restaurant stinking of cigarette smoke didn't help that impression. It reeks of cigarette smoke despite the no smoking signs and state laws prohibiting smoking in restaurants. And then we saw a waitress with a face tattoo smoking, but don't worry, she used the hand sanitizer before prepping customer food. A customer in the back room had a cigarette going to entire time we were there, which I realized when I was paying. We should have left as soon as we walked in and smelled the place. Service was very slow. It took an hour to get a couple of burgers. Those smoke breaks really add up. The food was basic. They charge extra for using a credit card. I live two hours and five minutes from the metro diner, which has the quietest food in this part of Texas. It's worth the drive. The reason it is so fantastic, is that the METRO DINER is completely women owned and operated. We came on a Sunday morning for the first time, and the place was HUMMING! Like my wife and I, some people of come from very far away, because this is the best food you can get this part of the state! The food was great, the service is fantastic and we will be back again and again. I cannot recommend the Metro Diner highly enough. Perfect chicken fried steak !!!! read more

First of all, the food is amazing. Best tater tots and mushroom burger I have ever had. I've been here several times and every time has been 5 star worthy. Food is always great, cooked perfectly, and hot. The waitresses are super sweet and service is quick. There IS a smoking section in the back of the restaurant but I have never left smelling like smoke or been overwhelmed with the smell. It's a diner, of course there's a smoking section, this is what you're signing up for. It's a super cute restaurant and woman owned. They serve breakfast all day also. I HIGHLY recommend this place! Food portions were extremely small! My partners "slice" of ham was the size of a debit card! Eggs and hash browns also came with his meal.... You could see more plate than you could see food. We were hoping that maybe the taste of the food made up for barely any food. We were sadly disappointed. Thank goodness for salt and pepper. It was nothing special. Beware ! If you're not a smoker you will die the moment you walk in the door. Unbelievably over whelming with smoke. We love hole in the wall places and are new in town. But holy cow! This place is shocking with the smoke filled restaurant. Never even got to the point of food. We couldn't get out and escape fast enough!!!!! read more

Worst experience ever. Waited forever to even get menus, couldn't get refills, then was served food that was burnt to a crisp (literally) and thrown on the plate. Couldn't eat it, it was so bad. They didn't offer to replace the burnt food, apologize, nothing. We will never step foot in there again! They were not busy at all. There was 5-6 servers and 2 cooks. No reason for that kind of service. I'd have been embarrassed to serve what we were served! read more

Atmosphere is premier, service is excellent, and the food takes me back to grandmas house. By far the best restaurant i've ever been at.

We stopped here on way to Arkansas. All three had the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and Salad. My son also had the bowl of chili. chili was the only good thing. Salad was like a big bowl of ranch with iceberg lettuce. The chicken fried steaks were obviously frozen and tasted that way. Mashed potatoes were just ok, and gravy was very thick.
