An absolutely horrific last day with our cat. Brought our sick old cat in to be put to sleep. The workers in the back did not use safety equipment so when our scared cat understandably freaked out in the back she scratched one of the workers. According to the vet it was very superficial, but that they would be contacting Animal Control and that they would have to cut off our cats head and send it into their lab. On top of that when they finally sedated her and brought her back into the room for us to say goodbye it looked as if they started to skin her like you would a pelt from hunting. We could see our cats raw flesh and I'm not talking just a little bit but a ton, from the bottom of her head to the middle of her back. They claimed it was from scruffing her when she freaked out but it was insanely graphic. So not only on my final day with my cat did they tell me they had to cut off her head to ship to a lab because they failed to use proper protective equipment but they mutilated the body of my best friend. Found them last year when my dog was having back problems. Had been to several vets and one no one was able to help. Dr. Burke recognized the issue right away. His care and treatment is excellent. Super disappointed in this vet. Have been 3x since getting my puppy and all was fine, I wasn't super enthusiastic but no complaints. Each time i had to wait very long, 30 or even an hour once but ok, I understand sometimes that happens. This Saturday my puppy broke her leg and I went to the emergency vet they placed a splint and told me to see my own vet asap Monday as she would most likely need surgery. This needs to be done as soon as possible. Long story short. They could not see me today. When I said that tomorrow would be too late as that would mean surgery the earliest Wednesday if not Thursday the guy on the phone even agreed with me but still, nothing he could do. I called warner vista animal hospital. They could see me in an hour. The vet gave me referrals and called 1 himself and arranged (as this vet is quite far away) that he's coming to his location to do the surgery. Before he arranged that he didn't even charge me for the consult (i was in and out in 5min but still, some places would have) Very impressed and needless to say that this is where I will continue to go in future. Bottom line with this place. Fine for basic stuff but don't expect for them to do something slightly extra, not going to happen. read more

This place is fantastic!!! Everyone there is so kind and loving with my dog. This is my first dog and they have been so patient with my long list of questions and concerns at his visits. They take their time and make sure everything has been addressed. The prices are fair and reasonable and they never push any sales or services my dog doesn't really need. have been disappointed with service from Cornerstone in the past, as far as customer service, booking appointments, etc. The left hand doesn't seem to know what the right hand is doing. One time I came in for a pre-dental appointment, and when I came in for the actual dental a week later they didn't even know I was coming and tried to send me away. When I showed them the paperwork from the pre-dental they allowed me to stay, but if I hadn't brought the paperwork who knows what would have happened. This review is more about the level of care my pets have received. My beautiful Ruby is dead 2 months after receiving an "all clear" after coming here, and I honestly couldn't be more livid about the attitude and lack of commitment. I knew Ruby had a heart murmur from the dental mentioned earlier, and I noticed she had been coughing and I could feel her heart through her chest. So we booked an appointment. We saw one of the vets, and she disagreed with our request for updated x-rays. She disagreed that Ruby was showing symptoms of congested heart failure, or anything related to that. She essentially told my husband everything was fine and if we were really worried to take her to a heart specialist, but she didn't think that was necessary. Fast forward a month her coughing was getting worse. We decided to make another follow-up appointment, this time with Dr. Burke, as they toldm he specializes in lung and heart issues. Fast forward two weeks and we are sitting in the emergency vet listening to that vet tell us that Ruby's heart was probably filled with fluid and that her heart rate was doing very weird things, and that she basically could not come off oxygen. As a result of what the e-vet told us for prognosis we had to make the excruciating decision to euthanize. Now, does this sound like everything is fine? Does this sound like my dog didn't have congestive heart failure like we suspected two months ago? Who refuses a client x-rays if they want them? We called to cancel our appointment and told the front desk what happened and was met with "Well the doctor can't talk now but we're sorry." I'm sorry too, because my beautiful Ruby is dead and you all don't seem to care. Never coming back here again and I will tell this story to anyone who will listen and copy this review wherever I can so people know this establishment can't diagnose hard situations and that they don't listen to their clients. read more

Dr. Burke and his staff are always professional and just great people. I have been coming to him since I moved to Arizona many many years ago with all our animals over the years. He has taken care of our cats, dogs and birds. The office is clean, everyone is helpful, and he is fair in pricing and what you actually need to do. One of my schnauzers had a very expensive surgery to remove an eye due to valley fever and he explained what was necessary and what would happen and gave me all the facts about glass eyes etc. He made me feel comfortable that she would be fine without the eye and compensate for it quickly and not feel bad that we couldn't afford another $2000 for a glass eye for cosmetic purposes. The dog was fine for another 5 years without the eye, fur covered over it and it wasn't even noticeable to us anymore. He has always been amazing with our pets. read more

Went to Cornerstone Animal Hospital yesterday by a friends recommendation. I needed a second opinion on surgery for my Golden. Arrived on time, filled out some minimal paperwork and was shown to a room within 10 minutes. The vet tech Garrett came in to take vitals, and within 5 minutes Dr. Piper came in to access the issue. I received a quote from them and was pleased enough to schedule an upcoming surgical appointment. Feel confident that all will go well, and will give a follow up review after surgery. Follow-up: Dr. Burke is genuine and kind. He removed a cyst on my Golden's back and did a beautiful job. She is recovering wonderfully and I recommend Dr Burke and this facility to all! read more

My entire family has been going to Dr. Burke for about 20 years. He used to have an office in the Superstition Springs area but we all followed him here when he moved. If you need a veteranarian, this is the place! The office is clean, pleasant, welcoming, and all the staff are always wonderful. Dr. Burke and the other vets in the office are all amazing with the animals. I have brought dogs and cats to him over the years but I also see people in the office with birds and reptiles. His prices are fair and there are usually appointments the same day if you are willing to take any of the providers. I wouldn't take my animals anywhere else and Dr. Burke can never retire!!! read more

A+ for Dr. Burke, the rest of his staff get an F. We came in for a new puppy wellness check. Waited 40 mins in the lobby despite being on time for our appointment. The room we were brought to was quickly swept by the tech but floor/surfaces were not disinfected which I consider imperative with a 6 week puppy. We saw the dog before us come out, the quick sweep, then we were ushered in. To wait. More. Vet tech took our vaccine records which he said he would be "right back with" after making a copy. Twenty minutes later he returned with Dr. Burke and completely forget about our records, I had to ask to get them back. The 5 minutes with Dr. Burke went smoothly and he was wonderful, kind to us and our puppy. Most frustrating of all was trying to make an appointment next week for my puppy's next round of shots. The receptionist was clueless and disinterested. I requested to make the appointment and I told her the info of when it was needed would be in my chart, she responded "Well I just have a calendar I can't see the chart." So I had to research myself when my puppy's next shots are due. When I asked if the office is always so busy with long waits, she repeatedly explained "Well this is a hospital..." "Well this IS a Dr.'s office..." "We get busy, we're a Dr.'s office..." I'm a nurse. If anyone knows about hospitals and Dr.'s offices, it's me. Being in one is not an automatic pass for hour long wait times. In fact I consider that an exorbitant and almost inexcusable amount of time, barring unexpected emergencies. Apparently here, it's common and normal. Also the receptionist insisted that I require another full service appointment next week although I had just spoken to Dr. Burke and he said I only needed to see a vet tech for the shots. Maybe if she had read my chart she would've known that. We'll see how the appointment goes next week. If it's not drastically better, we'll be taking our pets elsewhere. read more

We have been taking our pets to Dr. Burk and his staff for 10 years, I have never had any complaints, until this past week. Our senior dog, Scotty had a devastating turn of health on Wednesday night, we were not sure he would live through the night, but he did. I called Cornerstone at 8 on Thursday, Dr. Burk was in surgery , I explained the condition of my beloved boy who was 16 years old to the staff. I was told that there were no openings and the next time there was an opening was on Monday, I did not realize it was actually Monday the 17th. I was told to call to see if there were any cancelations in the interim. So, I call on Friday, again explaining the urgency for our dog and was told no they could not help, there were no cancelations and "see you on Monday the 17th". Yes, I was also told to take him to the emergency vet, we have been down that road before with our other dog, four hours and 400.00 dollars later, no answers, except to hear "we want to keep her and do all these tests on her, etc , etc, we are not wealthy people, but we love our dogs, that is what they guilt you into. They would never allow us to see our dog during the entire time she was there, finally, my husband said" I want my dog" no thank you. However, that is beside the point, We finally found Exceptional Pets, they worked us in on Friday, did blood work, and found out that he had a seizure, with an underlying cause of cancer and we ended up putting him down, they were so caring and loving to us and our boy. I WILL NEVER return to Cornerstone, nor will I ever recommend them to anyone who wants a good vet. I am very disappointed in the blase attitude of the staff at Cornerstone. It seems they no longer care about the pet, just the money... forget EVER going to them. Exceptional Pets, they are the REAL deal, caring and loving, especially during a time that is so heartbreaking. read more

I have been taking my two dogs to Dr. Burke for 4 years now and he is the best vet I have found in the valley. My beagle is older and has a lot of issues, but Dr. Burke always suggests an alternative to the expensive therapies. I never feel pressured to buy more treatments than are necessary. Also, he is always patient with me after check ups and answers all of my questions thoroughly. He made my baby healthy again so he gets 5 stars. read more
