Cornerstone is a TERRIBLE management company. All the negative comments reviewers say about this company are true. They do not care about the tenants, and you will regret renting from them. Cornerstone will probably answer this review and say how sorry they are and how I should contact them for assistance. DO NOT BE FOOLED. -Our garage doors are constantly broken here at Park Cheesman Apartments. This allows homeless individuals to break into cars, have access to the entire building, and puts residents at risk. Building management does not care. chastises residents for "improperly using the garage doors", and has no urgency to fix the doors. -The laundry room washers and dryers are constantly broken. If you inform Cornerstone, they will tell you that it isn't their problem and that you have to contact the third party company that they lease the laundry room to. Cornerstone customer service is nonexistent. -Cornerstone undertook construction in the lobby area without a permit from Denver. As a result, the city issued a Stop Work Order and construction was stopped until they received the proper permit. Cornerstone does not care about ethics, morals, or rules. -There were two homeless people found living in two areas of our building on two separate occasions in late 2021/early 2022. This is because Park Cheesman does not secure the building. The front door that was broken into with a crowbar by the two homeless individuals has not been fixed or made more secure despite management being aware of this vulnerability. -Management is almost never onsite in the office. They do not live in the building and do not care about the property. Additionally, we have had 3 or 4 building managers/assistant managers in the last year or year and a half. Cornerstone churns through employees. Any good employees that work at Cornerstone end up leaving because the company has a bad culture. -(Potentially controversial opinion) Cornerstone installed a basketball hoop in the outside area right outside the apartments. If you plan on working from home or sleeping in on the weekend, plan on doing so while listening to a ball bouncing and hitting off the rim for hours at a time. -Heat and air conditioning are only available half the year. Air conditioning isn't turned on soon enough and you will have one, two, or more months of pure heat torture until the building decides it's time to turn it on. Don't take my word for it. A number of residents, including myself, are being illegally, charged for renters insurance through the Cornerstone has with Assurant insurance. We have all been requesting for several months to have these charges removed from our accounts. Cornerstone has been unable to do this and continues to charge us on a monthly basis. read more

Me and my partner live at a property on Clayton St. in Congress Park that is managed by Cornerstone. We are great tenants. We keep the place exceptionally clean, have good relationships with our other neighbors in the building, keep the property owner and Cornerstone in the loop with anything going wrong, and we never pay rent late. Let's start from the top. The maintenance group took 3 times to repair a rotted out deadbolt. Each time saying it was "complete" and "fixed". It was not a difficult fix, they are just either lazy or incompetent. Next, we pay $2285 a month for rent and a flat utility charge for water, trash, common building space lighting etc. This building is 6 units total. For almost an ENTIRE MONTH (next week will be 4 weeks) we have been without a washer. There is 1 coin operated ($1 per cycle) washer and 1 coin operated ($1 per cycle) dryer. These 2 machines are used by all 6 units. Every time the washer is full of coins, it jams and you are unable to push the coin slot in, and in turn, unable to start the washer. We have had to notify maintenance of this issue several times. The building owner is apparently the only person with a key to empty this, so if they can't reach him, we are just SOL. Makes a lot of sense right? Most recently this happened, and for over a week no one could get the owner to come by. Finally he comes by and "empties" the coins. Nothing changed. Still jammed, still can hear coins inside when you shake the washer. 2+ weeks without a washer for 6 units they let us know the washer needs to be repaired by a tech who works for the company that makes them. Let me note this washer and dryer are likely 20+ years old. The dryer sometimes takes up to 3 cycles to dry garments or bedding completely. They finally "schedule" a technician around Thanksgiving and we are told that the tech can't get out until the week after the holiday. Well, it's now over a week since Thanksgiving and nothing has been done. When we asked Cornerstone for compensation in the form of reduced utilities for a month cycle or in reduced rent for the time and money spent doing laundry elsewhere when it is promised as an ammentiy on the lease we signed for this building, they simply said " I will not be able to offer any sort of rent reduction for this. Again, I apologize for any inconvenience this has presented and the machine should be up and running today." That was on November 18th. It's now December 2nd and nothing has been done. We are still unable to use the washer. Don't live at a Cornerstone property, you're just a number to them. Even if you're a number paying almost $2500 a month. read more

Oh man. Very difficult time renting. Most ever. Not worth the stress and constant fighting for your simple rental rights. Pros: Nice women in the office when signing lease. Online rent payment. Cons: Manager would communicate ease/no worries, then "increase rent or vacate." Coming home to mistaken eviction notices. Rent was raised 3 times in 2 years. Lots of stress and emails, just to fix Cornerstone's constant errors. They would breach their own contract Coming home to cornerstone van parked in my parking spot. Then calling office. Hours later, getting an email saying its not my parking spot. I owe them back payments of $35/month for 2 years. I had such a terrible time dealing with this company, that even though Denver has a housing shortage, you are better off avoiding them. read more

I'm giving 5 stars for Jimmy on the maintenance team - not for the building I currently live in. Jimmy is always cordial and responsive. There is often something broken or needing to be fixed in the building (ie: no heat for 3 days, no water for 2, broken glass... etc) and I'm very thankful Jimmy is willing to spend long hours over the weekends to get things repaired. 1 star for my building, but 5 stars for the maintenance team. read more

I have called and emailed regarding your maintenance guy running a stop sign in cap hill. I was walking with my dog and thank goodness we stopped bc he kept going. He had to stop BEHIND the red sign. Not keep rolling out. He then proceeded to chase me down 9th ave yelling at me and videoing me. For what? Because I took a phot of his license plate and told him he should've stopped? Pedestrians always have the right of way. He harassed me to the point that bystanders had to ask if I was okay. He is representing your company. The incident occurred at 8:15 at 9th Ave and Marion. I have attached the photo of his license plate. Your drivers should know the rules of the road before getting behind the wheel. They also shouldn't harass people. I'm a female, person of color and felt unsafe being chased down the street by a white male. Thank goodness there were other people around to help. Shameful that you haven't responded to any of my other methods of reaching out. People should be aware of the type of company Cornerstone is. Cornerstone is very responsive to any questions or issues I may have. I had a slow drain in my bathroom and I requested maintenance via the company's portal. Within an hour, a technician named Dusko, was at my door (masked) and ready to fix the problem. He was in and out within 10 minutes and problem was solved. This is the first building I've lived in where management has been so quick to help. The building is also extremely clean. I've seen a cleaner almost every day, thoroughly cleaning the halls, stairwells, elevator, etc. I've deducted one star (wish it could just be half) only because I've noticed sometimes there have been delays in cleaning out the dumpsters and mail room and both get backed up with garbage. It might be because of Covid and unrelated to the building management (I just moved in 1.5 months ago), but otherwise Cornerstone is great. Thanks! read more

I have been renting from cornerstone for two years. The reason I rent from cornerstone is because they have the BEST maintenance crews in Denver. There is nothing worse than paying for these expensive rentals and then having something break and waiting on someone to fix it. Things with cornerstone rarely need attention but when they do they are so responsive. Daniel and Mark are my two favorite dudes! They are so respectful and considerate. Where to start with this leasing company.. Early July 2021, I signed a lease to move into The Hooper Building August 23rd; early August, they tell the other tenants and me that we can't move in because the building wasn't done. I looked for other places to move, but peak season renting in Denver is nuts. Ended up being between leases for 4 weeks due to their lack of communication. Because I signed a lease in early July, I asked them where they would be housing me temporarily, as I legally expected a place to live by August 23rd. Cornerstone then informs me that they never countersigned my lease and that my housing issues are my problem alone. They just sat on a signed lease for 6+ weeks? Shady.. I tried several times via email and their office to get in touch with Leasing Coordinator, Sam, and Portfolio Manager, Kevin Goodman. Finally, I got ahold of Kevin, and he did everything he could to sound like he cared, all while putting the blame on his team. Wake-up call for Kevin: YOUR team is YOUR responsibility, as are YOUR tenants. I eventually moved in on September 18th, despite my efforts to find other options. In this being a brand new building, my hot water has already gone out several times. Kevin has done absolutely nothing to rectify the situation, and now, I'm strapping in for what could be a very interesting year-long lease. Save yourself the trouble and don't sign with Cornerstone, let alone at The Hooper. Edit: I have been living here for 5 months and only have more complaints; one of note being that Cornerstone makes its tenants pay for 30% of the common area electric, essentially doubling my electric utility. No lights are on motion sensor and there's several hundreds, the card-operated laundry uses electricity, as do other features that tenants already pay for. What should be their cost of doing business is now the tenants responsibility. This company cares about getting your money, not about making sure you feel satisfied with what you receive in return. read more

The management lost my $1000 money order and didn't tell me till two weeks after my rent was due. Kevin the manager refused to check the security cameras to the office because "he would trust the maintenance man with his new born baby". Since I wasn't notified till 2 weeks after the person that took my money order cashed it and western union wasn't able to do anything for me. My car was also stolen out of the garage, Deb (the owner of the building she claims) literally laughed and said the downstairs parking was safer???????????????????? I'm 4'10 and 120 lbs, she put me in the furthest parking spot in the back of the second floor? When my car was stolen Denver PD requested the camera footage from the parking garage but deb the queen of the parking garage never sent it. read more

Where do I even begin... Cornerstone and the Harvey Allen building has been my home for almost the last 4 1/2 years. This apartment has truly become my home base. I've connected over the years with various apartment tenants, I've made friends with homeowners on Grant Street and the neighboring blocks, and I've watched over this building as it was my own. This isn't just an apartment to me, this has been my home and a community that I have really connected with over the years. The memories here are all across the board from surprise parties, to my beloved dog cookie passing away, relationships, hosting events and more. My friends are even sad and shocked that I am moving. They all have really loved this home and felt at home here too. What has made this apartment even more special is Cara Young. Cara was there for me during a very difficult, put mildly, time in my life. I am forever thankful to her for that! She, of course, maintained being professional but she was also empathetic, understanding and incredibly helpful! Cara is willing to go the extra mile and problem solve to make sure that you as a tenant are taken care of, which is everything anyone could ever hope for in a landlord. Cara, thank you for everything you have done for me! I will never forget it and I will always be thankful! To be honest, I am sad to be moving. The only reasons that I am moving is because I miss having a balcony, my dog barks due to being close to the entry and proximity to work. Beautiful property, neglectful management. Common areas are not well maintained, hot water went out for a few days and they gave us vouchers to shower at the rec center... I see a staff member on the property maybe twice a month. One of those times he was hanging out on my balcony while a plumber worked on the sink. That guy was fired; The guy after him was also fired, and as far as I know, nobody has been hired to replace him. Cornerstone's phone has been out of service a couple of times, which...is it the 90s? The garage door is often stuck open, and there's no lock on the door into the building. Apparently, according to fired guy #2, one that's up to code is too expensive. We've had a few break ins, and at least once someone came in and pulled the fire alarm. Don't get me started on the monthly fire alarms. Lots of little avoidable annoyances with this management company. You'd think managing includes calling in repairs, but residents are expected to call in broken washers and dryers, of which there are nearly always at least a couple. Anyway. We live here. We love the unit and the view. I don't think about these complaints too much, but thought it would have been nice to know about them in advance. read more

He walked through our hallway, found the vacant apartment, fixed the gas leak and even fixed the beeping on a fire alarm that had been beeping and driving us all crazy. I rent my apartment via Cornerstone. This agency is very accountable and keeps my property (The Patrician) incredibly well maintained. They are quick to respond to maintenance requests and are always friendly. The quality of the service far exceeds what I expected for the price range and is better than all other leasing company I've rented through. Our dishwasher is mobile and needs to be manually connected to the sink to run. Having never seen this before, I had no idea how to get it to connect. The building manager was willing to come over and explain it the very next day! read more

I want to start off by saying I do not live here. I saw the listing online and went to their website to check out the apartment I was interested in. I was about to apply, so I called them to ask a few additional questions just to confirm it was what I wanted. However, talking on the phone to their staff completely turned me off from the entire apartment complex and company. When I asked a question, the woman was very short and impatient with me and did not answer any of my questions and just said, "I don't know check the website." This place may look pretty on picture but I can't imagine how frustrating it would be to communicate with the staff about standard questions. If this is how they make a first impression, imagine how bad it could get once you are locked into a lease!! read more

I can't speak highly enough of the maintenance team at Cornerstone. I'm going on my 4th year with cornerstone, and in that time have submitted a number of maintenance requests that have been answered promptly and solved successfully. Both Robert and Pete are friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and efficient. They are completely respectful when coming into my unit and communicative. Pete answered a request I submitted this morning within the hour and fixed my heat half an hour later. Cornerstone is fabulous for a number of reasons, but the number one reason I will stay with them many years to come is the quality of service I receive. read more

We literally have mice in the Red Owl complex where we're living. We've emailed twice, and no response. My wife then called, and the brutally unhelpful person she spoke with said "It's not an emergency, so we can't guarantee someone coming out this week." When my wife responded with "Well, having mice in an apartment complex - especially a brand new one - is in fact an emergency," said unhelpful person retorted with "Is the place on fire? If not, then it's not an emergency." Just A+ customer service over there. Glad they don't really care about having an infestation in one of their buildings. read more

He cut my internet line and there response was "well internet is not an amenity we provide, so we can't ensure it will work" Can you at least put a lock on the door to the telecommunications room? Can you ensure a lock on the door to the telecommunications room so stuff like this can't happen again? No. No they can't lift a finger to help. If you value your internet connection or work from home, find a different place to live. Cornerstone are nothing more than lazy slum lords. read more

I moved from Chicago to Denver today and had to contact Cornerstone to get a few items fixed. I feel so fortunate to have met Maeghen Davis there who listened to my concerns, showed up in-person to my apartment to formulate a plan of action, and even went to the store herself to buy a part needed for a door. She was SO kind and supportive and even called me at the end of the day to once again check in and follow up. I've lived with cornerstone twice before and both horrible experiences. The office doesn't communicate with each other at ALL. Whenever I would call my apartment complexes managers (Tamai Towers) one of them would constantly try to tell me that others had it worse etc... Never came in for a therapy appointment, just wanted to know why they were not communicating with each other in their office about people's ledgers and payments etc. There wasn't any transoarency and expected us to know things that they didn't communicate to us. Why hasn't management done anything? I'm not sure I'm still paying rent and my stuff still keeps getting stolen!! To date 2 bikes from a secure garage, 5 packages including an Amex card that was racked up to over $1000! Have cameras been installed?! NO! Has the front garage access door been addressed?! NO! ( it's a $20 dollar fix without impacting fire code) Have the front doors been glazed to obstruct the view to the packages that have been left? NO! Summary....... Broken window in bedroom, reported on day 1 of lease in Sep 22. Not repaired as of 2/25/23. Maintenance requests are systematically closed out with status "completed", but never even addressed. 3 fix dishwasher requests for same issue were ignored. 2 fix window requests never addressed, but "completed" in the tenant portal. Dripping spout in tub fixture was never addressed, and today there is a major leak in the building extending through 3 floors at least is most likely related to my ignored service request which has snowballed to a major issue. Cornerstone is at the same time moving full steam ahead in units in this building with unit renovations of vacant units, yet treat existing tenants with total disdain. Capture your ROI at any cost; like what a slumlord does? I'd give them ZERO stars, but there isnt an option. Shame on you, Cornerstone! read more

DO NOT rent from these crooks. It's nearly impossible to avoid their buildings as they are everywhere in Denver but for your well-being seek housing elsewhere. I have never had issues with a landlord or rental property ever before having rented for well over 18 years now. They treat you like a number and not a person. They provide no flexibility whatsoever on anything and will absolutely find a way to squeeze you for all that they can. I have had roaches for months on end and still do after having asked them several times to address it. The paint in my apartment was chipping away upon moving in and their solution was to tell me to wash it off on my own. So many more issues to vast to list here. Just pleas don't do it. I saw this complex and wanted to check it out. Went it, saw a unit that was too small. They found me another unit and I loved it. They worked up the lease the 2nd week of September. I had a few days to sign the lease, didn't have a chance to fully read. I was charged $1760 + the prorated amt for the remaing month. Thinking the deposit was the first month's rent also. I got a notice that I needed to pay the deposit and the first month's rent or I would be evicted. During this time I was in a major car accident and my car was totalled. I explained the situation because I had to pay my deductible. It didn't matter. I was told by my assistant Ryleigh Mussato in the first email sent there will be starting eviction procedures. Now after paying almost $3000 to catch up, I have not received a ledger of how much I've paid and came home to eviction papers in the mail. I work for Amazon and I've hired a lawyer from our vast amount of lawyers to counter sue for the prejudice and incompetent way they do business. read more

Called the thursday before thanksgiving to get my water repaired as it was coming out of the wall from a improper installment from either this rental company or the one before, it is now a WEEK AND A HALF after this was to be fixed, ive reached out to portfolio managers, assistant portfolio managers (btw sams a real treat to deal with always pissed off and never smiles at the tenants living in the building hes suppose to manage went up to ask him a question and it seems like a bother to him, allie never picks up the phone and or reaches out to anyone back) and we also had a week in november where we lost hot water for 4 days and didnt get any compensation then, my tub still does not full function as when i take a shower out it pours mad amounts of water in my tub, mice problems, roaches, bugs, maintence and s&*tty managers equals what guys????
