A roof leak damaged our walls and ceiling in our kitchen and pantry areas. We requested a quote from Cornerstone Appraisal & Restoration Service. Steve Abramovitz inspected the damage and submitted his quote to our insurance company. The insurance company notified us of their approval, we contacted Steve and he sent two of the best workers I have ever met. Every inch of our hardwood floors was completely covered with canvas cloths, cabinets and countertops were covered in plastic, pantry shelving was dismantled. These two workers replaced drywall, spackled, painted pantry and all walls and ceiling and then put everything back together again. Through all of this, they were professional, respectful and personable. Steve checked with us during the work to make sure we were satisfied. We will be calling on them again for future projects. Steve Abramovitz was assigned to our project through our home insurance. He was unresponsive and never followed through on the aspects of the project we agreed to. After waiting more than 2 months for him to schedule the repair, to provide tile samples, and provide an estimate for some sub-contracted aspects of the repair, I expressed my frustration with the slow progress and poor communication. He pretended that we had a bad phone connection but then later repeated back to me things I said under my breathe during that time in detail. If you want to take responsibility for every aspect of your job, Steve might be a decent sub-contractor. Throughout the project he never followed up about missing paperwork or decisions that needed to be made. When I contacted him to ask why things were not moving, he would indicate that he need this form or that decision. Finally, he offered two reasons why he couldn't move forward and I showed him e-mails where he had taken responsibility for one of the two and where we had asked for references to another supplier for the second. At that point is when he pretended to have a bad connection. But don't expect guidance, help, or pro-active support on scheduling or job completion. The owner, Peter, indicated that they were not able to complete the repair (Steve was the only project manager he had available) and to ask my insurance company to cancel their check and issue it to another contractor. While appreciated Peter's candor, it was frustrating to get that information after waiting more than 2 months. The company might be better than Steve - but it is hard to know that. With no oversight on project timelines or completion, you are likely to wait for months only to be back at square one when they are unable to deliver. read more

These guys are in the Insurance Companies "back pocket." Paid extra to keep claims low....estimated the damage to my home at $1500 and I have a $1000 deductible....Luckily due to protection laws, I was able to terminate their service....the next (2) estimates of damage to my home were $38K and $43K respectively. Their PM Steve brags about how many years he's been in the business and has "Zero" experience with water damage, mold, and what happens if the standing water and water saturated wood are not addressed in a timely manner! The work that was done on my house was adequate however, I never received quotes in advance or at all. Work I was interested in having done but needed to know the cost first was finished without ever getting a quote. I learned the hard way and have to go to court to resolve. Be sure to get quotes in advance and do not let any work be completed until you sign off on it. read more

peter kieswitter was very rude and intimidating. work was very subpar, cornerstone damaged my home, had to retain an attorney, i advise you find someone else. i could write a book on how bad their workmanship was but i will spare everybody. just find someone else. read more

We hired Cornerstone after a neighbor's tree fell on our garage roof and damaged the roof and some of the vinyl siding. I found project manager Rosemary Kochy to be knowledgeable and professional. She explained what needed to be done, answered all my questions, and quickly had a crew out to the house. The job was done well and the price was fair. I was so pleased with the price that I had them replace the shingles on the entire roof. They cleaned up the work site very well, something we've had a problem with when we've hired roofers and construction workers in the past. I would definitely recommend them without any hesitation to anyone who's had damage done to their property. read more

I do not recommend this company. I worked for him as the electrical sub-contractor for one job. It was a $90,000+ kitchen remodel due to water damage. I was payed late, there were no architectural drawings, furniture and expensive rugs were not protected properly, and the job was not finished in a timely manner etc. Although this company appears to be a "high end" builder, they are not what I would call "professional". I would not use this company even in your most desperate hour. They came out to appraise roof damage/find the problem. They told me they couldn't find the problem, but they went ahead and put a tarp on the roof before more rain came. When I went to look at the tarp, I saw IT WAS SCREWED DIRECTLY into my roof with 23 screws. Now, I had no option but to replace the whole roof thanks to them. read more

I am not quite sure about the high recommendations this company has received but I know, from experience, that this is not a place I would go back to. My elderly mother needed work done on her house due to damage caused by a pipe burst and was given such a runaround that she asked that I step in and handle it for her. Just as I see in another review they did the same to my mother. Workers showing up without appointments, rushed subpar work and not a care in the world for protecting her floors and furniture. I had to hire another company to come in to clean up the mess they left since I was unable to do it myself. The only time they will talk to you is if you threaten to report them to the BBB. read more

Although this company has received high recommendations I suspect those jobs were major, high dollar projects. We experienced minor water damage in our bedroom, and two bathrooms due to faulty flashing on the roof. Our insurance company chose Cornerstone to fix the source of the leaks and repair the water damage in the 3 rooms mentioned. One day the workers just showed up at our house without an appointment to start the work. My wife, not knowing they were coming , let them in but needed to go to an appointment. When she returned two hours later the workers were leaving and told my wife they had completed the work and would be back tomorrow to paint. The estimate for this job was over $4,000 and included replacing dry wall in places which was not done. There was no effort to project our furniture or bedding. There was plaster dust all over the 3 rooms they worked in. My wife spent the next day cleaning up their mess. When we called to report this to the project manager, she was not available. I explained to the person who answer the phone ( who was very nice and understanding) that I was stopping work until we came to an understanding of the scope of the work and our expectations. She told me that when the project manager returned she would return my call. When the project manager returned the only call she made was to our insurance company wanted to know when they were getting paid. No one call us to discuss the situation. Maybe this job was too small for them. If so, they should have denied the work and saved us the aggravation. read more

A friend of mine owns a trailer/moble home in Wrightstown, NJ. The plumbing system apparently part of outdated MFR. lawsuit for materials deterioration and resulting water damages. My friend had State Farm Insurance which said for repairs. The bathroom approx 6'x8' with single sink, long vanity, toilet, tub/shower unit, floor to ceiling cabinet, corner boxed area which contained water heater (natural gas) with access from adjacent bedroom. Custom Porcelain tiles 14"x 14" made in Italy stamped on the back side of extra/spare tiles in shed. floor, bottom of walls, insulation floor & partial walls rotted. Plumbing leaking in multiple areas. Rotted pex clamps & pipe joints. Contractor rep came after numerous info put together by the mobile home owner through certified resources that the insurance company should have done by sending a qualified/certified rep. to co-ordinate. State Farm said ServPro clean up to do initial cleanup before repairs. All items removed from the bathroom were stored in the Kitchen blocking off table & chairs as well as most of the kitchen. A hotel room was recommended which aged pet made out of question. Bordentown, NJ area hotel was mentioned at 1 point which was almost half hour opposite from my friends work. Thank Goodness my friend stayed because all of the goings on made me sick wishing my relatives would've done the 2 week job that took almost 4 months and me helping out with number of things that should've been done right in the first place. ServPro didn't do proper clean up, left debris in drains and under the mobile home of which I cleaned up using my own equipment while they were paid and wouldn't return inquiry phone calls. Cornerstone came in did estimate and my friend had to send info to State Farm. Cornerstone tried to talk my friend into very cheap items in place of quality items removed sitting in the kitchen. The rep wanted to put a sink on a post instead of vanity, disagreed with floor to ceiling cabinet for towels which my friend using discretion picked in Home depot and had the gall to ask do you really need vanity & cabinets? Cornerstone rep even mentioned rotted floor under water heater need replaced but said let the plumber replace it. A plumber was called in on immediate notice from Browns Mills by ServPro to seal a leak from bathroom under hallway to washing machine by cutting hole though tiles & bedroom threshold with no intent to repair or discuss any other plumbing repairs. Cornerstone tried to get away with installing under-rated floor insulation R19 which in stated estimate was R30 and had the gall to ask if could double up paperbacked R19. They were supposed to replace all tiles in bathroom & small hallway. They used my friends custom porcelain tiles to do small replacement by bedroom threshold but got paid for doing the whole hallway. The hole cut in the threshold between bedroom was never properly repaired & a piece of 1/4" Luan plywood placed over still there!, my friends spare tiles put down using real dark grout which looked like dirt in contrast to original light colored grout. After complaint from my friend for an obvious blight the contractor came back and tried to color match by mixing grout after removing the real dark. Windows were supposed to be caulked/painted and sheetrock replaced in adjacent bedroom wall. Contractor used as much of old sheetrock as they could get away with. State Farm would not pay for plumbing repairs and another Plumber was called in on my friends checkbook at over $3,000.00 Plumber couldn't understand why contractor didn't replace the small piece of flooring and had 2 workers already installing Tub/shower unit over area of floor to be replaced. Plumber said he wasn't a carpenter but didn't take rocket science to put down piece of treated plywood. Which no treated wood to my knowledge was used in any wood replacement/repairs. Vinyl tiles were used in bathroom floor over plywood that had gaps all the way around perimeter which I caulked/sealed. Towel racks, toilet paper holder, shower curtain rod & plumbing fixtures were all supposed to be replaced NEW. I bought them out of my own pocket even though they were put in estimate. The old shower curtain rod had already been installed by the 2 workers and to remove would cause damage. I had to repaint everything because Flat White Painte was used in the bathroom after workers put 2 coats on and you could see right through it. I bought out of my own pocket Behr Premium Egg shell using 2 heavy coats. Satin or Gloss would've been best as stated to me by longtime friend & professional painter but Eggshell would be fine. I also sealed/caulked & painted the window in bathroom as well as adjacent bedroom. Cornerstone had to be called back to fix a gap in the vinyl tiles. Too many pics/video (still saved in file) that show everything to post! No inspectors ever came! read more

They fixed our back roof after the storm last summer, but a few weeks ago the roof stared to leak. They just came by and said it was nothing they did even though they didn't put the flashing back properly. The one man told my dad they weren't paid to put the flashing back under the wall. So my dad told him that he would call the insurance company to tell them that and the guy got very offensive saying not to call them. They were being very unprofessional about the situation. Also our neighbors across the street used them after the storm. They have had so many problems with the job they did and are still having problems with it. Hopefully we never have to deal with these people again. read more
