I've been going to cornerstone for little over a year now and I'm so glad my husband found this place. We first started out with Dr Nic, but he's in Oregon now and have been seeing Dr Aki since then. The whole staff is welcoming and friendly. They are awesome! Please know that they don't par with insurance so you are paying out of pocket for the services. For some it can be considered expensive but it really comes down to the end goal in mind. I initially came because my Achilles tendinitis pain (which I had for about 2 years prior to starting services at Cornerstone) was not improving. I was constantly limping and had already gone to see a Podiatrist, an orthopedic doctor, a regular chiropractor, and gone through physical therapy. I was at a point wanted to make sure it wasn't throwing everything else in my body out of line because also started having some back pain. Since coming to cornerstone I've notice huge improvement in my Achilles pain- it no longer causes pain. My posture is improving slowly but surely. And also I believe Gonstead adjustment has improved my health overall -- I get less headaches, and better range of motion. After receiving subpar care from another chiropractor, I took the leap and contacted Cornerstone online. The office was quick to reply to my message and called me to set up a consultation. My husband and I were scheduled for the last appointment of the night, and we were thankful Dr. Aki stayed past work hours to see us. He did his visual checks and then informed us he would like to do an X-ray. We were anxious to start treatment and agreed to have an X-ray done and get a baseline of our alignment. My first mistake with this consultation was not asking if they accept insurance. After getting our X-ray done, we were informed it would cost $47 per person, so a total of $94 that night. I was disappointed that I wasn't aware we'd be charged for the X-ray until after we agreed to doing it. It wasn't until that moment that I was told Cornerstone is a private practice and unfortunately does not accept insurance. My husband and I wanted to get chiropractic care right away so we decided to stick with Cornerstone. They offered us a payment plan or to pay upfront for a slight discount. We chose to pay upfront and save some money in the long run, so our total was nearly $1900 for 12 visits each ($950ish per person). This was a hefty payment, but we've heard positive things about Dr. Aki and decided it would be a great investment. Dr. Aki showed great concern and interest to keep our alignment in check. He would check our inflammation with that little machine of his, and get to work with customized plans for each of us. He also talked us through stretches and asked us to ice our bodies every day to ensure our alignment progress stayed on track. Dr. Aki is knowledgeable and showed us kindness during our visits with him. At the end of our 12 visits, Dr. Aki did a follow up X-ray to show how much progress was made in the areas of concern. I definitely saw improvement in my X-ray, and for the most part I did feel some relief in my spine and hip area. Unfortunately, we are unable to continue our care because of the cost. If only they accepted insurance to alleviate the financial stress because payment plans and $80 visits aren't feasible for my family in the long run. Also, my only real complaint is the wait time. Many of our appointments were never on time... We've come 10 minutes early only to be seen 30 minutes later than our scheduled appointment. I understand Dr. Aki is a hot commodity but it becomes an issue to wait that long. Maybe in the future we will reconsider continuing care with Dr. Aki. Husband and I have been going to Cornerstone Chiropractor for a while now and we must say that it's definitely been helping with our posture, our mood, pretty much our health in general. We found out about this office (because they have a Kapolei office & there's this one.) because originally Dr. Nic was a member in my Kapolei (West Side Success Chapter) BNI. At first I refused to get chiropractic done because the very first place I went to (somewhere in Hawaii Kai) pretty much scarred me. I never wanted to get adjusted again... until I heard Dr. Nic's commercial for our meeting regarding pain in the neck and back area that comes and go. I told him I had that problem for years due to trauma, falls, etc. I finally set up my meeting. I had to get my husband involved with me as well because his current job is Drywall Construction. It's a lot of wear and tear on your muscles/joints. We had the pleasure of getting adjusted by Dr. Chad Kobbs! He was the very first chiropractor I actually trusted. My first appointment, I did explain to him that I had gotten adjusted ONCE in my life by a female doctor and my experience that scarred me. First off, he took my xrays and examined them. We came back for a follow up to explain our current situation with the spinal cord. Then I explained to him about any trauma, falls or accidents that happened to me. Dr. Chad explained to me that the falls I had were pretty serious that it caused me to have congestion problems because I had fallen from a ladder and other incidents before. I'm not sure I gave Cornerstone Community Chiropractic a fair shot but my experience didn't meet my needs. My back was out and I really needed an adjustment. I wish the staff had helped me gain a better understanding upfront on the cost and price range, along with the possibility that I would not receive a back adjustment right away. The staff was super warm and friendly and the office feels very homey. They are upstairs above Buffalo Wild Wings with decent parking. For clear transparency, you'll see what I experienced not to try to sway someone either way, but purely for reference because I wish I had known this upfront. - I needed an adjustment as a new patient. My back was out and I could not sleep, was constantly in pain and couldn't think straight. I booked an appt but they couldn't give me a cost or price range. It depended on my condition. - Happy to finally make it to my appointment a few days later and still no price range. - They took x-rays for my back (especially since I have some numbness in my arms sometimes). That was $99. Okay no biggie for my health but there would be no adjustment until my x-rays could be analyzed. So maybe after the weekend on Monday, but I could not make it back to the office until Tuesday. I was dying at this point but all the other chiropractors were just as booked. - So come Tuesday and before I'm about to get on a plane, I head back in thinking I would get a good adjustment. Dr Mikey gave me a great explanation and view of my crooked spine on the screen. Neat gadget. Wow no wonder I was uncomfortable. Who knew how many years I was living with a crooked spine. - Then I got the sales pitch, with a highlighter on a piece of paper. This adjustment program could have easily been printed out. I am a planner. I appreciate time to absorb and know what I'm walking into (even the possibilities of care depending on my needs), not decide on the spot. I have received other cost plans for different types of medical treatments from $7K to $14K and opted in. But this is nothing to spur on a patient at the last minute - I did not commit to a 3-4 month plan, 2x a week, on the spot. I just wanted one adjustment and then I would think about the $1200 and up commitment. - Instead I received a small adjustment on my neck for long term health. Great. But my neck wouldn't crack anymore than that and there would be no adjustment for my mid and lower back. ouch. So $200 later and I was still incredibly uncomfortable, achy, and grouchy. It's like you haven't fed me for days. It left me with a bad taste in the mouth. I ended up going somewhere else to get adjusted. I understand the long term plan of helping my spine get into a better place but if a customer wants hot fries, give them hot fries. Then try to share the benefits of eating more salad after that. My husband and I were assisted by Mari on our initial visit, and she is pure sunshine and aloha! She made sure I understood how things go & what to expect. Every visit, she greets us by name, which stuck with her, as her mom is also a Frances, and my husband is Patrick, same name of my chiropractor. Mari created that immediate bond with us. I restarted my investment on myself and went back to Cornerstone Chiropractic in Ewa, to Dr. Aki. I found out I have double scoliosis! My lower back was really bothering me before, couldn't even turn while lying down without pain. It felt like my lower spine was shifting all the time. Okay so those who feel like they have nerve issues and headaches, did you know that a misaligned spine? We go through so much and if you want to prevent arthritis in your discs then look no further for Dr. Aki on your personal journey to better posture and health wellness. Dr. Aki is very happy to hear what your needs are and he will direct you into the areas to improve and correct what life (i.e., accidnets, bad posture habits, etc). Basically, what gravity does to us. With his consultations it's best to pay in full to get the most discount. I currently am in a six month program that not only comes with x-rays to monitor but alignments once every other week and his home care and exercise to food workshops. Dr Aki is informative, and his energy is positive. After doing my first initial visit, I was hopeful that he would be able to help with my pain. Cornerstone Chiropractic is the best of the best. I've been getting seen regularly for chiropractic care for the past 3 years, and throughout my 2 pregnancies. Since coming here I have a stronger immune system, have noticed a decrease in headaches, and realized that having back pain/ neck pain is not something I have to live with. It has helped with pregnancy aches and also getting my hips aligned and baby in the proper position for a smooth birth. They are extremely gentle and knowledgeable about what they do. I have since brought in my husband, and daughter (since she was a newborn) who also get seen regularly. Now even my extended family and friends come to see the Docs here!
