I called two local plumbers (Pristine and Poseidon) and left messages stating my problem (backed up toilet and shower) and where I lived. I didn't receive a call back from either plumbers. I called Cornerstone and received a call back in less than 5 minutes. They had an expert plumber out to me in less than 30 minutes. Dennis snaked the downstairs bathroom and was finished in an hour. Cornerstone Construction Property Services - General Contractors Near Me - San Clemente, California

We are very happy and truly amazed with the extensive restoration and remodel provided by Cornerstone Property Services that was completed in April 2015. Our 2 downstairs bathrooms and foyer closet were completely rebuilt by Cornerstone. We had contacted 3 other construction companies to obtain estimates on this project and decided to proceed with Cornerstone based on their reputation for quality work, reasonable price, and their outstanding customer reviews. While another full-service company was recommended by our home owners insurance, we found that the volume of local reviews for Cornerstone and their responses to our questions were clearly superior. Once the water remediation and air quality testing was completed by the original company recommended by our insurance company, we started to obtain reconstruction estimates for our home in Fountain Valley, CA. Then, after a reality check on the cost and time required to properly rebuild those rooms, we decided to re-pipe our home before proceeding with the reconstruction. Having an older home with copper pipes laid into the concrete slab and having had to reroute a hot water pipe 2 years ago in our kitchen due to a slab leak, it was the logical choice to re-pipe before attempting the 2 bathroom rebuilds. We had Ameri-Cal Repipe & Plumbing do the full house re-piping because that was their specialty and we were still interviewing construction companies for the full rebuild at the time. Ameri-Cal did an excellent job I am happy to say. By the time the re-piping was done, we had a tentative shopping list of the materials that we wanted for the rebuild of the 2 bathrooms and foyer closet. Steve Cederquist and his staff at Cornerstone helped us refine the list and keep the project within our budget. After I signed the construction contract, Cornerstone started the project the following week and that start date was ahead of schedule. During the project, his supervisors and work crew provided good communication and care in working through each phase of the project and keeping the worksite cleaned up on a daily basis. We had porcelain wood-like floors installed, new electrical switches & circuits, a new ceiling mounted Air-King heater, fan, & light combo, new composite bathtub, new subway style tiles in the guest bathroom, new curved bathtub shower rod, new master bath shower pan, new shower drain trap, hot mop for the shower pan, new shower tiles, tall shower pass-through doors in master bathroom, new Kohler toilets, Kohler sinks, Kohler sink faucets, new medicine cabinets, new vanities, new vanity mirrors installed, along with new drywall, primer paint, finish paint on the walls and doors, reconstructed door casings & door jambs, and new baseboard moldings. The Cornerstone project was completed in only 3 weeks elapsed time. We happily moved back to our home after our insurance company allowed us to stay free of charge at the local Marriott Residence Inn for 3 months while the materials testing, demolition, water remediation, air quality testing, re-piping, and reconstruction took place. read more

We contracted with him for a major remodel of our interior including a compete new kitchen, guest bath, enlarging master bedroom and adding additional closet space, plus more. Disappointing experience from Cornerstone Property. They must be really busy because from the point of initial contact to actually getting a call back took a week. This first call back was to ask about 10-15 questions about the project, the only question they forgot to ask was my social security number. Call back #2 was to ask the same questions again and to ask what my budget was for the project. Call #3 a week later was to inform me that they wont take the project, but almost a month later from my first call I found another contractor. Here are a couple of tips: If you don't have a minimum budget of $20,000 don't bother calling them. If your project can wait a month to go through a "consideration" process call them. If you are into taking chances try them out. My friend's house is having issues already from the work they did. read more

We initially called Cornerstone Property Services while in the midst of a project involving the uprooting of cement around our jacuzzi due to tree roots. The contractor we had originally hired for a relatively simple job found "problems," including outdated spa plumbing, that would increase our out-of-pocket cost from $2500 to upwards of $40,000. Concerned about the integrity of this individual, we reached out to Cornerstone Property Services to receive another bid. We spoke with Leeann, who scheduled a free estimate with Jeff, who was nice enough to add us onto his busy schedule the very next morning. Jeff's assessment was in great contrast to that of our original contractor. He concluded that our original contractor had recommended excessive and overpriced repairs. Jeff also advised us that this contractor's business practices (in terms of contract/change orders) were not in compliance with the rules of the contractor's board. Because Cornerstone subcontracts for swimming pool/jacuzzi repair, Jeff provided referrals to several different contractors specializing in swimming pool/jacuzzi remodels. Though we are still in the process of deciding who to hire, Jeff's wise counsel was instrumental in our decision to terminate our relationship with the original contractor we hired, and subsequently saved us thousands of dollars. Jeff went far above the call of duty in terms of the time he spent answering our questions and providing his expert opinion in regard to the issues we were experiencing. All the office staff, including Leeann, Crystal and Maria, were extremely polite, helpful, and efficient in all of our interactions with them. After seeing Steve Cederquist on HGTV's Flip or Flop show, I thought I would call and get an estimate knowing he would know what to do to "update" our home. We had a horrible experience with a contractor years ago and we were so hesitant on going thru this again.. well... it was FAR from what happened years ago.. Recently our house got a plumbing leak that damaged our bathroom ceiling and garage. I was yelping to find a good general contractor. Luckily I found Cornerstone! I called in and the next day Steve (the owner) came out to assess the damage, he was polite and gave a fair estimate. He put my mind at ease saying it could be fixed within a week or two. There was small miscommunication with the technicians but Steve was very professional and set everything straight and sure enough him and his team got the job done in less than two weeks! Professional and quick turn around. Had a gas leak at our unit. Called our property management which called them and within an hour they showed up at the place. They stuck around and did as much as they could within a day but they had to return the following day first thing in the morning. I met the owner, Steve Cederquist, through my now Ex-girlfriend. She had used him for her remodel and two of her friends were also using him currently. I was on the inside, or so I thought. Between my experience personally, as well as through her, I can tell you he is never on time (even after rescheduling and/or postponing) and does not return phone calls, texts or emails timely, if at all. Because of friends, I chose to ignore his other bad reviews online-Big Mistake!!! He was at my house 2 or 3 times, did his measuring, gave me his price estimates and we were attempting to schedule a start time since I had already picked out my specific granite and travertine. He assured me he could get me the same stuff I had picked, but cheaper, by using his stone buyer Ryan Musser. Eventually he told me to deal directly with Musser to save me time and money. The floor was first and they convinced me that the travertine I had already picked out was not good quality and had too much fill and shouldn't use it. Cederquist only saw one piece and Musser went to the store to check it out. Turns out that the place that sells it only sells retail so no spread for the middleman (I wonder if that influenced the decision!) Cederquist kept calling trying to schedule a start time for the project. I kept telling him that Musser had not found me the stone I wanted. Bad experience with Musser and two months later he eventually convinced me to buy something I was not happy with (I took his word for the quality). Took a few weeks to get delivered and while waiting, and after getting extra samples, I was convinced it was definitely not very good quality. Musser was not sympathetic so I called and emailed/texted Cederquist telling him I really needed him to come over before that next (delivery) week to look at the stone. He never showed up, called, emailed or texted until after the delivery about a week later. Now I was stuck and he was unresponsive so I fired him. He texted me back basically pleading with me to let him do the work and not to trust someone I didn't know. So I got stuck with two crates (out of six) of inferior tile that neither I nor the installers would even want to use. It was all low quality tile (exactly what they said they were saving me from) that was marked up drastically. I could not even complete my floor project even though there were still two crates sitting in my garage. Musser wouldn't stand behind it and said he could buy me more (at my expense) at an inflated price that he said was his cost. He lied, not knowing that I knew what he actually paid for it. When confronted with the invoice he basically told me to get lost and actually told me "Look, I don't do that many jobs so I need to make money where I can". I went back to Cederquist as the GC and laid it all out to him. Cederquist wanted nothing to do with anything, accepted no responsibility, and told me that Musser wasn't his guy and was just a "suggested resource". He then told me that he was not my contractor as I had never signed a contract. Remember, this was part of a group of friends and he kept calling me to schedule a start date on the project. He even called my GF to get her take but she was having an issue with him as well. I had suggested to both of them that I would be willing to give them the 2 crates in the garage that they could resell if they delivered one crate of good replacement stone to me. I said I would eat the difference. They both denied and refuted everything. In the end, I was overcharged for, and received, inferior quality tile ($11K+), which they bought way too much of, had to buy more tile just to complete the project, had to pay extra to my installers to deal with all of the sorting and extra work just to use what they could from the 6 crates. While this was still happening, my Ex had Cederquist do some kitchen work at her place. His guy broke 3 tiles in her kitchen and he wouldn't stand behind that either. He said she would have to pay to replace the whole floor if that's what she wanted. After complaining, and being friends, he then said he would supply the material of his choice (leftovers from another job I'm sure) and she would just have to pay labor. She still was not happy since his guy caused the damage to begin with. I'm not sure whatever happened with that situation but last I knew they still had not talked. FYI-she did not have a contract either. Her one friend that used him at the same time told me they were not happy and would not use him again. I guess he never even showed up at their job. In my experience and opinion, Cederquist uses dishonest/subpar subcontractors and is not even willing to stand behind their work as the GC. His moral compass is questionable as well. Looking at some of his other bad online reviews, it appears I was not alone. Deny everything seems to be his motto, assuming he ever gets back to you. Caveat emptor!!! read more

Had a bad experience with Cornerstone Property trying to get an estimate on some rehab work out in Temecula. After contacting them and sending out a work list, had great trouble getting them to respond and follow through. Each time I sent an email providing the work list or trying to schedule the on-site estimate I received no acknowledgement or response until I called the office to request some feedback. I even told them initially if they were too busy to accommodate me to just refer me to another local contractor. They said they could probably do the job quickly. After setting up an appointment directly with one of the project people to inspect my property, I never heard back two days after the visit was to take place. I emailed him again saying I assumed he had not visited the property as expected and was then told they normally schedule appointments thru an office system which no one had told me about. I told him this continual lack of communication is not the way to do business and had backed me into a corner by forcing me to seek another contractor at the last minute. I cannot recommend using them based on this performance. read more
