So far so good. I was originally told that the duplex i wanted had a pending application and that i should call in a few days to find out if it was rented. I did and the duplex was still available.I was call within 15 minutes of leaving a message requesting to view the property. I was told there would be a viewing the next day. Everything went as planned. I sent in my application via e-mail and mailed out the check for the application fee the next day. I called to confirm that it was received by the right person and i actually got a call back and an e-mail confirming my check and applications where received. So far so good. I sent an e-mail with a couple of questions today and am hoping to hear back. i really hope my experience with Cornette is different that what you kind people have described. IF anything changes i will be sure to update my post, for better or for worse. read more

Cornette manages ten single family homes and two multi-family properties for me. They are highly professional and do a great job in a fairly thankless profession. When they turn units, they are always nicer than they were the last time a tenant moved in, and while perhaps not every landlord does this, that's exactly what I want. And, they deal with issues and problems without dragging me into them. Their maintenance department is very responsive. read more

I wish I could give a negative 5 million stars. This place is horrible. My husband and I own Several rental properties ourself. We right now do not have any available openings in our rentals. My very high-functioning autistic daughter who is almost 21 tried to rent through this company. This would be her first rental so she doesn't have any rental history. We offered to co-sign pay a Year's worth of rent up front and be responsible for any and all other Financial Obligations for the property. We found several perfect places that seem to have been rented the minute we inquired. My husband has a perfect credit score we proved that we had over a hundred grand and our bank to backup any financial responsibility. We were told we were approved through their process and that they wouldn't legally be able to tell the owner of the property that my daughter is disabled. We were called and told all we were waiting for was a contract to be print it out. My daughter got super excited told her all of her friends and family, just to have them go silent for about 10 days then send us an email saying that the owner had picked a different applicant. Which was very interesting seeing as we were told she was the only applicant. When will inquired about it they said oh another applicant popped up and so he chose that one instead. Then we find out the property is still vacant and being shown a week later we had a friend inquire about the property they never replied to her email but they did send us then another email saying the reason the owner said no is because the applicant didn't make three times the income. Which is a flat out lie they wouldn't have approved us if we didn't make the income they said that they would move our application to a different property come to find out that property was already being occupied we had to find that out on our own when we didn't hear back from them and we went on the site to find out it had already been rented. With us being landlord's knowing all tenant landlord rules we think they discriminated against us knowing that they couldn't yank us around if something went wrong with the property or they were discriminated against my daughter who is a disabled adult either way they wasted almost 2 months of our time and lied to us. So glad we decided not to rent from them. At this point we've decided to just purchase a property for my daughter so that we don't have to deal with discrimination ever again these guys will be expecting a lawsuit read more

If i could give a zero star I would ! My family and I applied for one of their houses to rent. First of all the agent that was in the house, didnt know anything. The house wasnt ready to move in at all, trash everywhere in the house and they had the nerve to have an open house. Then when they send you documents for verification they will give you less than 24hrs to get it done while we waited almost a month to hear from them. Shannon J. handled a potential rental agreement very poorly. Her message on my cell phone message was inconsistent in that your first referred to my pet as a dog, then called him an animal. People's pets are important parts of their families and you showed a lack of sensitivity on this. She obviously not a dog owner and probably runs to the other side of the street when one approaches her. Also, she required me to pay for renter's insurance for the renter's property not covered by the landlord's property insurance. I check with my insurance agent on this. This is an option for the renter to protect their renter's property not covered by the landlord and should not be required to be bought by the renter in any case. Having a dog has nothing to do with a requirement of obtaining renter's insurance. She has a lack of knowledge in this area and was imposing this on me for the simple reason of satisfying another financial penalty for a dog owner. If you own a dog and want to rent thru Cornette Property Management, be prepared to fork up some serious added money for having a dog. She wanted me to pay an additional $750 on the security deposit for a combination of pet and poor credit and was not clear to explain this to me on her breakdown. She told me it had very little to do with my poor credit rating. Typically, a pet deposit is about $100 additional on the security deposit, which I paid on my current rental property and have no problem with paying it. She told me the poor credit score had very little to do with this $750 added security deposit. So I assume the pet security deposit was going to be around $650 and the poor credit rating added around $100. She never made this clear and the more I thought about it, I could apply this added security deposit to on a higher valued rental property with more compassionate people that respect dog owners and lovers. I was "allowed" to move in on the mid month date of Jan. 14th with the entire month's rent of $1000. That meant I would lose a 1/2 month's rent in January and I assumed this and I would have to come up with another $1000 on Feb. 1st. She also wanted me to take time off of work and rush into her office in less that 24 hours with the $1000 initial deposit, which is about an hour from my office. She also wanted me to show my present landlord a lack of respect and credibility of not giving a 30 day notice as I moved out. It's people like her that cause all of us to have to damage our dignity to others in our society and just rush the money along so you can pay for you new food processor and new shoes in time for the holidays. She handled and presented this rental matter very poorly, as I was very interested in moving into renting their property. As a former home owner and someone who used rental property managers in the past, I know it's important to pick the right property managers to represent the home owners. And as she would expect, I will be discouraging any property owners and potential renters to go thru Cornette Property Management in the future based on your lack of professionalism and poor handling of this rental property, as you are a representative at this firm. read more

Overall, we were very disappointed with Cornette Management. We have been working with them for 3 weeks trying to sign a lease on a property in Elk Grove. We provided the proper documentation on 3 separate occasions and were treated very poorly. Cornette wanted us to send a money order for double the deposit, claiming we were a risk to rent to (even though we both have great credit scores and even provided proof of income and our bank statement). It seems like they don't have the renter's best interest in mind. I asked to talk to upper management because of how we were being treated and they refused. They claimed to send an email for confirmation but we never received the email. After asking for them to resend the email, their response was "well if you aren't going to rent the property, I'm not going to send the email." If you can avoid using this group, I strong suggest it. read more

For starters it was hard to get to see the place that I wanted to rent and when they did have it available to see they gave me 10 minutes notice saying that it was not going to be available to see for 15 minutes so I decided to apply because housing is difficult to find in Sacramento so I sent them my $40 and then they said that my credit wasn't good so they kept my $40 even though it says on the application rules saying that it's good for 30 days on the other properties will they told me that I'm not qualified for any of the properties even though I have a cosigner and excellent rental history with one thing on my credit for $300 guess I should have read all of the other reviews before I applied but this company they are very shady and will keep all the money they can excuse after excuse there should be no reason with the cosigner I should not be able to rent avoid this place at all cost unless you like giving your money away from nothing this place is a joke Shady Shady Shady Shady that's all I can say about this place read more

Shannon Jones was completely unprofessional in handling our application to rent. Unlike when I worked in property management, she did not follow-up with any of my phone calls. I was only contacted when she requested documents for our application. However, the call was brief and was accompanied by a condescending tone with a phone demeanor of somebody terribly inconvenienced. After having promptly following up with her requests via fax, I was appalled that I was transferred to voice mail immediately for every call afterwards. It is in my professional opinion that if someone faxes you sensitive documentation and call you afterwards to confirm, you respond promptly! I work in the health field currently, and this is common practice. Additionally, they informed us the application process took a total of 24hrs to complete. We turned in our application Tuesday at noon. She apparently didn't even receive our application until Wednesday (why did Derek not return to the office with such personal information? I hope he kept it secure!!), but didn't hear anything the next day! I finally just withdrew our application this morning to avoid further frustration. She told me they were still waiting to hear back from the owner (couldn't she have called to tell me that?). I'll never look at a property under this companies domain again. When things break they just ignore you 95% of the time. I have asked for several repairs for over TWO YEARS and not only don't they fix them, they lie, make false promises then say they don't make promises, they LIE then they say it is not their responsibility to fix anything, it's the owners...then they just say the owner hasn't responded. Carrie, in maintenance hung up on me because I said she had the wrong information and I had been told something different. HUNG UP on me, and I've paid my rent on time for over 4 years. So I spoke with the owner, Judy, who just placed the blame on the homeowner and told me Cornette doesn't do repairs! I stayed in the apt maybe 1 month total No locks on my windows....my house got broken into immediately after moving in. My front window was crack with tape on it!? I had a very serious safety issue (stalker) and tired to get out of lease because I cud no longer stay there and these cold blooded aasholes got me for a eviction. Cornette is very unprofessional . I have lived in my property for over a year with my roommate and we had countless indescrepencies with them. Not only did we go without a bathroom for a few days (we live in a two bedroom ONE bath) while Cornette did nothing for over 24 hours, they never came to help with any problems with our house untill the city inspector was called. Then they hounded us for days so a "handy man" could come and fix everything so they wouldn't be fined. When we didn't oblige,we found out from the inspector that there were countless fire hazards, (i.e. Windows would not open and stay open, old wireing, and our diswasher was not installed correctly) Everytime we would call them, a nasty women would answer and say that there was "nothing she can do about it". Horrible way to treat future tenants!! This has been one of the worst property management places to deal with. They have no idea what customer service is. I walked into there office with apps filled out for credit check and money in hand. Told me the place was not available for viewing. The woman took my number said as soon as its available she'd call. That was 2 weeks ago I called today only to find out they are waiting on a app to be approved for the place. Unfortunately this is not the first time I have had a problem. To start I saw a duplex for rent on their website WITH PICTURES OF THE DUPLEX I automatically contacted them to view they property how ever they told me I couldnt see the property because the people still lived there and that they were going to be moving out by august 24th ,but they said if I was interested in the property that I needed to summit my application in order for me to see it , don't understand that part but okay . Once my application was approved they said my move in date will be sept 15th and that the property was going to be ready by then , mind you I haven't seen the property only through pictures ,still don't understand why they would wait until the 15th to show me the property. The date arrived once I showed up to the property the duplex was in really bad shape dirt everywhere ,bathrooms were disgusting ,doors broken holes on them , refrigerator with stains and not cleaned overall everything was pretty bad ,I understand I was not going to get everything brand new but I expected a clean place to move in ,the person they send to show me the duplex took pictures of everything and said they were going to be sending them to the office ? whats ???I thought my move in date was the 15th?? why they waited 15 days to get this fix and clean .I call Sonia who was the person in. charge for that property but again all the people who work there it seems that they don't like their job and they go to work just to eat and talk shiet about their customers . Sonia proceeds to tell me that they where going to wait on the owner to see if he wanted to clean up the place and fix it , I couldnt believe what I was hearing ,the next day they call me and Sonia tells me that the owner OF THE DUPLEX WHEN back to clean up and fix the house up and if I wanted to go and check so I could sign the lease and get my keys this was on there 17th of September . I went back and to my surprise the DUPLEX WAS even worse !!!! the house was still dirty and to top it off one of the bathrooms had shiet all over the toilet like if he only went to use the bathroom there and didn't flush the toilet . it was pretty bad even the person who showed up to open the property saw how bad it was and all she kept saying was you don't have to take the property . NOW the owner wont give me my deposit back, is not that I didn't want the property but I am not going to clean someones shiet .please beware of this company. First of all, yes i am on disability however my wife is employed and she confirmed nobody from your property management team contacted her employer for employment verification. Second, I confirmed with our most rescent landlord that nobody from your staff bothered to contact her for a rental reference. Lastly, i have a rather large file containing sale documents executed through Placer Title Company where if I had been asked i could have easily provided proof of home ownership prior to renting. So again Cornette Property Management, what was our 70 dollar fee used for? The only thing that is factual is you ran our credit. Nothing more. I understand the homeowner choosing the candidates they feel most comfortable with however, to send me an itemized statement of what our application fee was used for when in fact it is bogus is disheartening and offensive and i am prepared to obtain sworn statements that you did not verify or even attempt to verify anything. Terrible customer service. First, let me say that every time I talked to anybody on the phone, there was no energy, no enthusiasm, and a general lack of "nice-ness" from the staff. Nothing rude (at this point), but definitely not outstanding. My husband and I really liked one of their properties while viewing it at a showing. We tried to turn an application in there on the spot, and the representative told us we couldn't, it had to be turned in to the office. But our showing went after 5:00, so the office was closed for the day. So I went the very next day, right at 8:00 when the office opened to turn our application in. I was there for only a few minutes, but the entire time the girl at the desk was on the phone helping somebody else while trying to also help me in person. She told me that she couldn't accept applications to the property we were interested in anymore. Seriously?? So the entire showing the day before was a waste of time, because if what the representative said was true, no applications could have been turned in between the showing and when I arrived in the office. The girl on the phone did not offer me a list of other available properties. I know it's not her fault, but she could have had better costumer service to communicate why that was the case, or explain the process better. The property we viewed was a gated community. At the beginning of the showing we were told by the representative to wait just inside the gate, and he would come lead us to the specific property at 4:45. By 5:00 we were still waiting for him to come get us, along with others who were also waiting to view the property. We looked outside, and the representative was gone. So we were all there wondering what to do. Where did he go? We eventually found him..inside the property. So not only did we wait around for him (because he TOLD us to), but we also had to find him and the property on our own. (this gated community was not clearly laid out as some, so it was a little confusing to find our way around). I tried to call and complain to the manager about their general lack of customer service skills, and the negative impression they gave to a brand new customer like me, but she was unavailable and couldn't come to the phone at that time. I guess we lucked out, because we definitely will not consider any of their other properties, due to their overall lack of communication and customer service. read more

When I was a resident of Cornette Property Management when I would have problems with my house Nancy Drikas would go above and beyond to make sure that all of my issues for repair was Addressed to the owner. After I moved out I clean the house wiped on the walls in the kitchen the bathroom they charge me for window covers but tomorrow I am now at holes and they charge me a cleaning bill after I had clean the whole house for several weeks moving furniture out of the way to wipe down walls have lived there for five years The closet handles when I moved in were missing and I got charge for all of that crap their bill to me was 500+ and that is the way I got it and it was cleaner when I gave it back I will tell you right now that cornet is a piece of crap and does nothing for you and when you move out May will be a part of your deposit so just have that in the back of your mind you are not getting all your deposit back read more

Hello, I like to begin with starting out by saying this company has been a nightmare! I moved into a three bedroom condo they manage April 01, 2016. A few days prior I was forced to schedule a walk through on their time and not mine. I was forced to leave work earlier to meet with a gentlemen they have working for there company. Keep in mind, I was told I needed to be there at 4:00 PM. Now, this employee did not show until 4:40 PM and left work early for no reason! I conducted a walk through of the condo and immediately began pointing out several issues with the condo such as, Filthy Capet, inhabitable due to long build of dust and a found what appeared to be a used condom in the master bedroom. Also in both bathrooms, pubic hair was found along side the tub and toilet, and sink. I also pointed out the fridge had mold on the top of the ice maker which was not cleaned thoroughly. The dishwasher was non operable and completely disgusting. Items were left inside the garage and advised Cornette Management of the items. They sent someone out to my garage to retrieve the items after our stuff was moved in without giving a proper 24 Hour notice and came when we were not present WHICH IS ILLEGAL! Now, I been asking to repair the broken dishwasher for five months and was provided with a used dishwasher. After the dishwasher was installed by the contractors provided by Cornette Management they departed the property. The dishwasher was running it's course and when it reached the drainage of the overflow, it was pouring out large amount of water. I contacted the personal cell number provided by the contractor and advised of the issue. They returned back to my unit since it was only moments after their departure. They had came and stuck a screw driver in the hose leading to the garbage disposal then departed again. Later on in the evening at approximately 6:00 PM, both sides of the sink were filled with water. When I tried to drain one side the other side fills up higher. I contacted the contractor notifying them that this is an emergency situation and was told they will not be coming out. I HAVE TEXT MESSAGES TO PROVE MY STATEMENT. I left for school at 7:30 AM the following morning and found the sink to have remain the same. I came home around 10:00 AM and found my kitchen completely flooded with water still pouring out heavily out of the sink. I contacted Cornette and spoke with April advising of the emergency issue. No one showed up until after 2:00 PM. This resulted into me calling off for my scheduled shift that evening. Dishwasher has still not been used the entire rest of my lease due to afraid of another flood. Another issue that was advised of immediately was the AC Unit was leaking water in the closet making not only the smell of mold, but producing mold on the wood floor. They sent someone out months later and all they did was cut the piping shorter and then left. Max time there was fifteen to twenty minutes. I contacted Cornette Property again stating the AC is leaking still. Keep in mind this was asked to be fixed in April, 2016 and was not finally fixed until January of 2017. (10 Months Later) BY LAW ITS 72 HOURS, WHEN ASKED TO BE FIXED NOT TEN MONTHS LATER! This means I was unable to use my heater during the coldest season it has ever been in Sacramento. They sent another contractor who replaced the part that was making it leak and also what made the heater not function at all. Now April an employee whose job description just specify as vacant unit coordinator and her mother who works there is the current resident maintenance coordinator. Now some emails I've sent to April and she states send them to Nancy because she deals with current residents. When I email Nancy as told to do so, I get a reply from April in regards to my issue. I am bit confused now of who does what this is completely falling under the category of the RUN AROUND! My lease is up in three weeks and WILL NOT BE RENEWING MY LEASE! At the end of the day people are gonna rent where they want to rent. I just simply want to make Sacramento aware of this company and to be aware of CORNETTE PROPERTY MANAGEMENT. Absolute worst property management company I've ever dealt with! After living in my rental for4 years under their management, finally bought a house and moved out. I had contacted them several times during my tenancy with numerous problems, exposed tack strip, plumbing issues, etc and they NEVER ONCE inspected my property(unfortunately my actual landlord passed away from cancer and his estate hired the incompetent Cornette), when i moved out I left the house cleaner than when i moved in! Reality is, cornette advertised my rental a month before i was to move out, and they had never even set foot on the property in 4 years until 8 days after i moved out! They refused to return my $1850 deposit and sent a generic itemized list of why they were keeping it. Long story short, I got back less than $400 and that was after i had to threaten legal action after 3&1/2 weeks of getting the run around. Steer clear of these slumlords! read more

Zero! Terrible company. Does not return phone calls to owners or tenants. My tenant complained about a safety hazard, and Cornette didn't call her back despite several calls. She blamed me. Cornette cost me money by not collecting deposits, requiring rent to be paid on time, evicting a tenant who hadn't paid for months and, after the court awarded me over $10,000 in judgments against tenants, Cornette told me judgments had been turned over to a collection agency. That was almost a year ago, and I just found out they hadn't done it. Waiting to hear why Cornette failed to do what they said they had done. Still waiting. read more

Where do I start.If you use this company be prepared for them not to answer your questions or tell you one thing and do another. Then deny it. Keep everything in writing. When we went to look at the property,we were not allowed in,so that was my first clue. When there was a problem,they would take days to respond,if at all. We had a roof leak,the roof was fixed by the HOA,and never was repaired on the inside the whole year we lived there. Yes, I have pictures! If you tried to report something that the HOA handled they would say call the HOA,well the owner has to do that,so how about you tell the owner?!?! They try to charge you for things that don't exist on your move out,so when you move in make sure you take pics of everything. They charged me for cabinet linings that did not exist. Why would I remove them? They tried to get me for a broken shelf. I have a picture and an email that we sent them when we moved in to fix it. It was never taken care of and they said I broke it. That was taken off after I threatened to go to small claims. Since I only have a pic of an open cabinet that doesn't show any linings it wasn't worth trying to battle for the last $300. So all I can do is say beware. We asked for a move out inspection and they said we didn't.If I can figure out how to post a pic,we have an email that says final walk through inspection and all they did that day was take the keys. They don't do anything for you.I am thinking these 5 star ratings have to be fake accounts. read more

We went through the same thing. We were the first one to apply and Credit, background, and everything came back fine. Waited a week and a half to get an update. Was told that all is good that we are just pending the owners approval. Got a voicemail saying that "the owner picked another applicant.". Like wow. ?..they just took our $60 and wasted a credit report pull. I felt discriminated because they couldnt give us an exact reason why. The worst part was I had a friend call them to ask if the SAME property is still available just to see...sure enough, they said "the owner still havent made a decision so we can still take applications" wow again. ..I feel like company is scamming possible renters by taking in applications to make money. I asked to get my paystubs, bank statements, drivers license copy, tax papers, and credit report back, but they refused to. Sarah told me that "it's cornette property".BS!!! I was coming to look at a house today because it was something I was Interested in I was given a 10 min window to look at the house I was supposed to be here at 3pm and was at 305pm. Mind you I live across town in natomas and this place was off watt and arden way. I left at 215pm and hit every possible red light here without getting a ticket I rushed. I got to the property and 1. Was not greeted 2. Was told I had "3 mins to look at the place and than get out". 3. I was totally rushed; when I asked about outside she had no information- normally when your showing a property and your a property management you get all the information you need about the places so you can tell people about it when they ask questions. Very very unprofessional in every way possible. I wouldn't even give them 1 star but I had to. I wouldn't even rent from them ever. Very disappointing I wonder if the owner knew how their company ran his or her house they would be astonished. read more

I'm a new property owner customer of Cornett Property Management. My best experience and the primary reason I'm giving Cornett 4 stars is due to the timely ACH deposits, the online owners portal which makes it hassleless to review and obtain statements and info pertaining to my property rental and a very nice employee by the name of April who has been consistent in answering my calls and responding to my emails in a timely fashion from the beginning up to now. read more

Cornette managed a property for us for 10 years. When we gave 60 days notice that we would no longer be renting the property, they basically stopped working for us. They failed to complete inspections or repairs in a timely manner. The repairs they did make were shoddy and did not hold up. They failed to collect the rent from the tenant and told us they would send a form letter requesting payment to the tenant. That didn't work of course, so they told us to sue for the rent. I thought we were paying them to rent the place!!! Cornette is affiliated with or owns the repair and painting part of the business. When we asked for some of the paint which we had paid for, we were told what color it was and to get it from Home Depot. I would never use this company again. read more

Horrible to deal with. Impossible to get ahold of and scattered. Trying to view a property for weeks, made multiple calls, was waiting on someone to call back to set time to show but no one ever called. Called back a few days later to find out there were 2 applications submitted on Friday that are being reviewed. Friday was a couple of days ago, I've been trying to reach them for weeks! read more

Office staff is horribly inept! First, at the 10 minute window for viewing a house in Shingle Springs, the lady who showed up knew absolutely nothing about the house. I knew more about it by reading the description online. But the house was cute, so we applied. I faxed in my application, mailed the application fee the same day, on Friday. On Monday afternoon I left a message with Andrea to make sure they had received our check and didn't need anything else. Never heard from her, so assumed all was going good. Called again on Thursday, only to be told by Andrea that they never received my check, but did get my message. When I asked why they never called me, as I would have brought over a check even though I live an hour away, she said the cell phone number she had for me did not work. Confirmed the number, my correct number. Asked her why she didn't try my work number, my email, my fiance's number or email.....for crying out loud, on our application they have all the information they could possible need to contact us! Andrea said it was because I had left a message and she was trying to get a hold of me! Are people really this stupid? She assured me they would rip up my check when it finally did arrive, but pretty sure it is there some where, waiting to be deposited and I will have to contact them again. Ridiculous that we spend half an hour filling out an application and collecting all of our copies of items they need, but someone in the office cannot take one minute to contact us and tell us they did not receive a check! There is a shortage of rentals right now, so obviously companies know they can get away with horrible customer service! read more

i WOULD GIVE A 0 STAR BUT THERE WAS NO OPTION Me and my husband we applied for a property and eveything was ok with our credit and our backround check , but for some reason they seem so racist when I called to ask if we were approved Megan Had no reason to tell me why I was denied she is one of the most rude realestate agents and she is so RUDE she dosen't give you a chance to speak I have never seen this kind of realestate and espically and girl the sits in front of the office she first needs to know how to speak to clients she talks as if we are some kind of a little kid this office is the most worst worst realestates I have ever seen. According the way they talk it seems like they dont even show the application to the owner they only charge and thats the only thing they are good at by taking money becuase 2nd time we applied again on one of the propertys and was on process then my husband said lets try from different phone and ask if there is any application on this property and they said no there is no applications yet and I might get approve for it once I pay application fee.... then my husband said oh wow this is me we already put application on this property so how you say there is none? then she said oh I'm sorry I didnt see that and she put my husband on hold and she hanged up.... So I found a much better realestate office much professional agents know how to talk and they do charge but they are very reasonable I just got approved with the most Beautiful 5Star House I'm glad I went to another Realestate office So if anyone needs a rental as my experience please choose a different realestate. read more
