My school recently sent dinner to my house, all the way in Marina Del Rey. Not only did Cornucopia Caterers deliver everything beautifully packed, but they even came early. Everything was outstanding and perfectly cooked. We enjoyed the asparagus with lemon and butter, the chicken, grilled salmon, beautiful salad, faro and pepita and the yummy bundt cake. Cornucopia Catering was AMAZING!! They catered our outdoor wedding in October 2019 and wow did they do an amazing job. They made the process of tasting on finalizing menus super easy and Chelsea was a great help! When I tell you that people RAVED about the food I mean they WOULD NOT SHUT UP ABOUT IT. Literally. The food was perfection!!! We went with a Mediterranean theme buffet with some more Americana appetizers. People still tell me how good the food was. The presentations were lovely and elegant and exactly what a wedding should be. Their entire staff was lovely and friendly during service. If you're on Yelp researching caterers for your wedding, stop looking. Cornucopia is the BEST!! I got married 6 months ago and people are still talking about how AMAZING the food was. I should have written this sooner but hopefully I catch the rest of you brides/grooms in time as you plan your wedding. Most people focus on the dress, the flowers or music but we were the most concerned about the food. We met with two other caterers but CC was the only company who set up the meeting at our venue. Andrea walked thru the grounds with us and listened to what we wanted. She made suggestions about where tables and the kitchen should go. She is very detailed and throughout which is great because the hubby is that way too. Instead of handing me a preset menu like the other caterers, Chef Dennis asked us what we like to eat and said he had some ideas. We met them for a tasting the following week and OMG it was so delicious that we had a difficult time choosing between all the options. Another thing to point out is that both Chef Dennis and Andrea worked very closely with us on rentals and food adjustments so we could meet our budget. We really appreciated it. The day of the wedding...they were a well oiled machine! The entire staff was super friendly and helpful. We ended up running out of champagne and Andrea came to the rescue and ran out and bought more. No one even noticed..including us! I'm going to be painfully honest here. The (second) most important thing to me going into my wedding was the food. I learned to appreciate things like flowers and decor through the wedding planning process, but when my wife and I started talking about our wedding, all I could focus on was what I was going to eat that day. I'm in my late 30s. I've been to many weddings in my life. What I learned from all of these is nobody cares about anything but the food. So when it was my turn, my wife and I spent some time looking for good catering, and budgeted accordingly. Eventually we found Cornucopia. Our initial correspondence with them was very promising. We wanted something simple and rustic-- something like skirt steak and some sides, served family-style, maybe with some fish as well. After we had our tasting, we knew Chef Dennis was our guy. As for the fish, Dennis mentioned something about sea bass. On the big day, Andrea, Dennis, and the rest of the Cornucopia staff delivered on every promise. The food was delicious. It was so good -- and I only noticed this just now, as I was looking for photos to add to my review-- that none of my guests took the time to take photos of the food. I know this because we had one of those instagram hashtag/social media things the kids are all into these days. Out of hundreds of tagged photos, 0 pictures of the food (which is a shame, because the food looked as delicious as it tasted). I have friends who seem to take pictures of nothing but food, but it wasn't the case that day. Everyone was too busy savoring the delicious skirt steak and God's Own Sea Bass, along with the accompanying dishes to bother with cameras. The starter salad, a crunchy and refreshing jicama and grapefruit number, opened my eyes to what starter salads could be. Thanks Dennis, for making me consider possibilities beyond kale and butter lettuce. My only regret is that I was not able to sit at the big tables and inhale the food like everyone else. The best I could do was steal bits of sea bass from my wife while she was distracted by friends seeking photos with the bride and groom. (I'm in those photos too, but I wasn't about to let some cameras interfere with the second most important part of my day.) In sum: I urge all my single friends to hire Cornucopia to cater their weddings, so I may fully enjoy the great food and service they provide. read more

It seems odd to me that there are negative reviews on here because I can assure you, Cornucopia was AMAZING for my wedding. They always responded on time to my emails. They were prompt, organized and thorough. The biggest thing for us was budget and they were incredible helping with that. The day of the wedding, there was no issue what-so-ever. Here's the other thing, they did a completely vegan menu for me. No, they are not a vegan catering company. But they were willing to work with me, which shows so much. I was actually turned down by 3 catering companies before I came to Cornucopia. I didn't know if I wanted a vegan wedding, but I was toying with the idea, just to see if it was even possible. Or like 50% possible. Not only did they take on this task, the food was INCREDIBLE. They set up a crackers and "cheese" table, no one knew it wasn't real cheese! I heard guests saying it was the best brie they ever had. The mushroom risotto and butternut squash raviolli.... to die for! They say brides don't eat at weddings, I literally sat down and told no one to bother me for 10 minutes so I could finish my food. It was amaaaaazing. I am very happy with my experience there. Well this was a breath of fresh air and deliciousness in the midst of the pandemic. My mom is a rabbi and we celebrate a Shabbat dinner every Friday night. So Friday night dinners are always special, and prepping a good meal and even hunting down or baking challah take up time and effort! We recently enjoyed a delicious catered Friday night dinner delivered to our home. Not only was it delicious food, but well packaged and labelled and socially-distanced delivered along with easy to follow reheating instructions. We had a Mediterranean inspired meal for 2 people, including a steak and veggie entree, a grilled chicken and veggie entree, along with yummy curried carrots, delicately flavored rice, salad, 2 mini-challahs (Jewish braided egg bread), hummus and pita AND delicious baklava for dessert. There were 4 of us for dinner so we supplemented the generously portioned dinner with just a little extra chicken and rice and really enjoyed ourselves. You start to forget how stressed life is now on a daily basis - to figure out how to pay the bills, cook for a family, look to navigating the future - and I never realized how much a beautiful and tasty meal prepared by someone else could make our day. Everything was perfect. Marcy and her team created the wow factor we were looking for and the food was excellent. We turned a high school cafeteria into a special place for our sports teams year end banquet with the help of Cornucopia Caterers. The Cornucopia staff worked hard on site to prepare and set up the food and it showed in the high quality and presentation of the food and the classy look of a usually drab cafeteria. The soccer ball cake pops were the a big hit for dessert. Before I post my review, let me thank EVERYONE at Cornucopia for the most fantastic job at my son's Bar Mitzvah. YOU WERE ALL GREAT!!! We found out about CC at an event at our temple. I commented to my wife how great the food was ( past experiences weren't so good) and that we should grab a card and call for an estimate. Once we connected with them and discussed our needs, they suggested we come in and pick out what would work best for the kids and the adults. We met with Elliot and Dennis and they carefully listened to what we were saying. They are great and suggesting foods that works in these situations. Anyway, we were given a wonderful list of choices to review on our own with our son and the next step was reviewing the set up and decorations. My wife and I are both pretty creative so we were going to handle most of if but we still needed someone to set up and direct everything for the day. In steps Denise with a big smile and a willingness to accommodate what ever we needed. My wife and I decided what food would work and told Denise who then set up a food tasting evening with Elliot, Dennis and my family. It was here that solidified how great these people are. They did everything we wanted, they gracefully dealt with our back and forth of " add 2 adults, take out 3 kids... add in an adult, add 4 kids...." and all the nuttiness that goes with planning an event. Used this company for a wedding party. I should have known from the beggining they would be bad, but they came reccommended. Bad communication, lots of last minute pricing changes and hidden charges. VERY overpriced overall. Poorly managed and organzied. They wasted materials I purchased, napkins, cups, candles, food etc. Food was left inside the stove at the venue and it was found 2 weeks later!!!!!!!! Set-up looked terrible on the day of event. When the employees went into the lunch room to get some of the left-over food, the person managing the catering staff said that the emplyees coundn't eat the food because it was for the catering staff. They have catered some lunches for our employees and customers. Their sandwiches & salads are okay but mostly the dishes are bland. We have an incident where we didn't ask for plates we thought they're included and they ask us to pay for them before they give them to us. I work with a non profit and we hold a HUGE golf and tennis tournament every year. We host a breakfast, boxed lunch and amazing dinner reception for the entire group which totals around 400 people for dinner. Cornucopia provides the catering for the entire event and there is absolutely no one else we would ever go with. Elliot is the epitome of catering perfection, which is hard to come by. His greatest asset is remaining calm at all times. I've never seen this in the event world. It almost seems like he doesn't care because he's so laid back, but in fact, he absolutely cares...very much!! We couldn't have been happier! Our Bar Mitzvah this past weekend was a huge success due mostly to the food and the ease of planning from Marcy and her staff. Marcy makes herself available, both by phone/email and in person which really made everything run especially smooth. She's upfront about everything and very flexible and understanding with all your changes and concerns. We didn't go overboard with a "theme" but because my son loves food trucks, Marcy suggested she could set up food stations like "trucks" with blackboard menus at each one. She helped coordinate some extra decor and lighting we asked for. It was a huge hit, especially with my son. I highly recommend Cornucopia. I recently had Cornucopia cater an event. I had heard from numerous people about how good their customer service was, because of someone named Andrea. Low and behold I never did meet Andrea whom a friend of mine was raving about. Instead of meeting Andrea I met someone named Gloria and another girl named Denise. Not the most professional people. All in all they were very unprofessional, total lack of service, it was like pulling teeth to get a confirmation or even a call back to get final details for the event! Our food was subpar at best as well as dry and cold. We asked the chef who I believed was named either Dennis or maybe Danny about the food. he proceeded to blow us off as if he had more important things to do than to address our needs. All and all the event cost much more than expected for the service we received. Do Not Use Them!! They don't care! It's was unfortunate I wasn't able to meet with Andrea. We used Cornucopia Caterers for our wedding this fall. My husband and I had a hard time selecting a catering company that we could find within our budget, and Cornucopia was the clear winner after many tastings. Chef Dennis is FANTASTIC and has great suggestions for whatever theme you are looking to go with. He was great to work with, very attentive to any questions I had about the menu, especially as our date creeped up. The entire catering staff was kind, professional, and charismatic. We had an outdoor reception and served skirt steak, chicken, tamales, rice w/cilantro for dinner and all of it was amazing!!! We had just as many amazing comments about the dinner as we did with the hors d'oeuvres. The jalapeño mac and cheese balls seemed to be the guests favorites. And dessert!!!! Dennis made some pretty incredible s'mores cupcakes and mini cronuts. Overall, everything was fantastic and I am THRILLED that we went with Cornucopia Caterers. Cornucopia catered a funeral reception at my home for over 100 people and I was impressed with every detail and how the event was handled. They came to my home to see the layout a few days before the event and made recommendations for the set up and the menu. I handed them the keys to my house the day of the funeral and I came home to a beautiful set up in my backyard. The setup was perfection and the food was delicious. Dennis could not have been more pleasant to work with and his generosity and ability to make the numbers work was amazing as my guest count went up but my budget didn't. It's not easy to feed 200 people, but Dennis made everyone happy. I was able to offer my guests 4 different entree options - which is not common at such an affair. Like many hosts, I did not get to eat much at my party, but all I heard from my guests were rave reviews about the appetizers that were passed around, and the appetizers on the tables - which apparently were truly spectacular. I heard particular praise for the borsht shots and the beef tartare. I did get to eat some of the main course and my salmon was yummy. Dessert was also delicious - wish there had been leftovers for me to take home. People told me the bar was great. Dennis is creative, generous, talented. We went with Cornucopia Caterers for our wedding and the food was amazing!! Marcy is super sweet, and really knows what she is doing. She can be difficult to get a hold of at times, only because she is sooo busy I think. Also, they didn't give me a final contract until 3 days before my wedding, which can be really stressful right before you're about to get married and already juggling a million different other things. But the bottom line is that in the end, I had NO regrets about going with Cornucopia caterers because 1. the food was amazing, I tasted it myself before the wedding and during the wedding, and we heard about how good it was from all of our guests, and 2. the service was also awesome(we heard from our guests and experienced it ourselves). Also, it was not cheap, but neither was the food, it was really quality. So, bottom line, room for improvement business-wise, but not with the food-it was perfect, and that was the most important thing for me overall.
