The tour started 10 minutes late. Our Jeep had to follow the safari tour truck. Their truck had a tire issue so we missed out driving in the dunes. They offered an additional ride on the safari truck but really defeated the whole reason we rented a Jeep. I would not rent from them again. read more

Awesome ride on a 4X4 tour vehicle where paved route 12 ends and the sandy route 12 begins...no joke you are driven to your end destination along the Atlantic Ocean to see these wild beautiful horses on protected land. You will enjoy every part of this tour. From the homes that are built out here to the beach goers out there all day. Looks like a Jeep commercial out there. Trip is 2 hrs long but you'll love it all. We've done these tours before - but nothing compared to our experience with Outback. Our driver was Nate who was such a character. Nice, informative, funny, intentionally terrible driver ... We went on the wild horse tour and it was amazing! Nate was our tour guide, and I highly recommend asking for his tour. He was so knowledgeable and friendly. He told us all about the history of how these horses wound up there, how many there were, and tons of things about the area and the animals. We saw a lot of horses on our tour and were able to take a lot of great pictures. This tour is well worth the money! I can't wait to visit there again and take my daughter on the tour. Rick drove us around in the cab of a Chevy 3500 Crew Cab pick up truck. The bed had about 15 people on fabricated benches. The rear cab was covered as it was a little chilly during our trip and there was a lot of standing water, so we were thankful for the Diesel 4x4! We drove a lot of places, and saw two groups of wild horses in addition to a very nice scenic view of the inter-coastal. Drove all over the beach and all the way up to the VA state line. We were recommended by the Sandpiper Resort and they didn't disappoint. We started a little later because Rick didn't know exactly how to use the iPad with the credit card reader and had to have the owner on the phone to get it done. Small potatoes though; we got to see wild horses and had a blast doing it. I would like to do it again sometime. Recommended, just call ahead by a week or a minimum a day in the winter time. read more

Early May - Went back w my friends, Jen took great care of us - again. If you are debating about going with another company - don't bother. I noticed that other companies had 40 ppl in several vehicles with only 1 guide. The guide was on the beach yelling facts, etc to the tourists who weren't allowed to get out of their vehicles. If you can't hear due to 35 mph wind - too bad. With Corolla Outback Adventures, 1 guide per 16 ppl. We were able to get out and take pics (from a distance). Also, we all decided that Jen is the best guide in the whole OBX. She knew everything and everybody! "That helicopter overhead, he is going into town for groceries." Make sure you bring cash to tip her because she deserves it!! I went looking for Jay Bender after our tour to tell him what a great time we had but I missed him. Hopefully, he will see this review. If you are on the plus side, call ahead to see if they have seatbelt extenders. PS: Call ahead to order the pizza nearby and make sure that they are open. read more

This was our third tour and highly recommend this company. They are able to get to some areas inland that other companies can't access. This is where we saw our first horses today and then got lucky and saw a bunch at the ocean. We've had Brad and John as tour guides and both did a great job entertaining us along the way. We have three young children and love how helpful they are with the kids. We've done the sunset tour and also have done a mid morning one too and both are equally as good. Definitely call these guys you will be glad that you toured with them! read more

We definitely recommend this for your vacation. When we called to reserve (2 days ahead), because we had 12 in our group, they offered us a discount on the adult tickets. We chose the sunset tour and it was great. One of the big reasons is that the air temperature was colder, perfect on a 90 degree day, the sunset itself is beautiful, and there is a greater chance to see dolphins and other ocean animals. We had a great time on our adventure. In addition to a very scenic ride on the beach, we got a little tour of the neighborhoods that are out there, and of course, saw horses! Another big plus - they are the closest tour to the drive-on beach. So of the 2 hour tour, only like 10 minutes is on the main road. They were also very accommodating. One member in our group had a recent surgery and they had a two-tier step to help them get into the cab. read more

The tour itself was great. Enjoyed the history and seeing the beautiful horses. Our guide was knowledgeable and fun. However checking in was a disaster. We called to book tour for 15 people and called back within several minutes to let reservationist know we had two free passes from our rental. Left a message as there was no answer. The ladies at counter were extremely rude and said the phone lines were down and they hadn't gotten message and couldn't process the free passes. Nothing they could do about it. I showed them the passes on my phone from the property owner and offered to email them. They said wireless was down and I could go to library to print them (our tour was to start within 15 minutes). We then asked about parking the golf cart and were told rudely we were in the wrong spot. Having never been there before we were unaware. Needless to say our tour did not start off on the right foot. Not a good way to get repeat business. read more

I first want to thank Outer Bank Wildlife Conservatory for the referral. Thank you Mary for your kindness and giving to the horses. We had a great time and even though it rained off and on, we went out on the truck with Brad. It was great he gave us history and jokes. Yes, horse jokes some funny and other not so funny. I learn so much and we saw about 30 horses or more. I will take this tour every time I come to Corolla with only Corolla Outback Adventures. Keep on giving back and keep those Mustang safe. The best way to see the wild horses on the island. Kate did a great tour and has tons of knowledge, not only about the island and the horses, but the wildlife and marine life overall. She's also a fun laid back personality with just enough spunk, but not so much you feel like a wild tourist blazing through protected lands. There aren't as many horses as we thought we'd see but this company has access to grounds other companies don't, and they give back to protecting these horses. Highly recommended if seeing wild horses is a goal of your trip here. read more

Ok, so my fiancé wanted to go on a horse tour, but I was a bit skeptical. $50 to see some horses? I wasn't sure. In any case, she was pumped about it, so I obliged. Man, am I glad I did! Our tour guide, Tim, was passionate, funny, and totally engaged. Far from the stereotype of a tour guide you might have in mind, he truly was passionate about his work, the horses, the history, and making sure everyone was comfortable. They provided bottled water, and everything felt totally safe (from the seatbelts to the truck itself). Honestly, it was quite the fun experience. Driving through sand dunes, spotting horses in remote locations, beautiful scenic locations, pointing out where celebrities vacation, and again, Tim's consistent passion and positive energy, really made the experience memorable and fun. We booked over the phone the day before. The man was extremely nice who we talked with and arrived 20 minutes before the time he specified. We were taken care right away. They had 2 vehicles that day and each had a small grouping of people on each. We had 9 on the vehicle. Ample space and could see from any place on the vehicle. Our guide was very nice and provided us with facts & stories of the horses, outer banks area and Corolla. We saw horses by the houses 3 times and again by the ocean. We were very happy to have had seen them numerous times. Saw dolphins in the ocean. The tour lasted 2 hours and enjoyed the ride on the beach. Perfect weather in October. Highly recommend this as I saw other tour companies jammed with tourists in their 4 wheeled vehicles. About $50 per person, but worth it! read more
