When I picked them up, the job he had done was better than the original manufacturer with a better shank and thicker rubber sole. We used to send boots and heels here all of the time when I worked at a certain boot store but this was our first time sending our own shoes. We sent in three pairs of Birkenstocks, two to be resoled and recorked and the third to fix a strap. All three were done in about two weeks for the price of buying a new pair of Birkenstocks. This place has been in business, owned and operated by the same man for over 20 years. He gives the meaning of customer service something people could only wish for now days. He is honest and experienced. I took a pair of brand new boots to get stretched and a pair of heels to be fixed and he did an excellent job! I'm so happy, I even dropped off another pair of shoes that needed work. It's located downtown so the parking isn't always the easiest. There are a few spots right in front of his shop with pay meters so take your change. It's well worth it if you need your shoes shined, stretched, fixed...you get the point. read more

I wish I could give more stars to this shop! I had a pair of squeaky boots that had just gotten worse and worse with each year. In the end, I had gone to no less than 4 shoe repair shops in the past 5 years and each one couldn't fix them. I had almost given up but the boots were so cute and they're a great quality leather. The only issue was that darn squeak! Seriously, it was like a mouse was stuck in my shoe. Get it? A mouse? Squeak squeak! Updated Review: To make a long story short(er), I dropped off a pair of ancient combat boots for new heel treads, leather topstitching repair, and stitching on one sole on a busy Saturday. Picked them up a week later and part of the job hadn't been completed, though what was completed was done to perfection. In my haste, I didn't realize there was still a needed repair until I got home. I posted a review and Lawrence, the charming, talented cobbler here, reached out to me STAT, offering to remedy the remaining issue and generously refund some of the cost. He has since completed the job -- Very well, I will add! -- and I refused to take the refund because Lawrence is not only an outstanding cobbler but an obviously good man who places great importance upon customer service and satisfaction. I am sold on Coronado Boot & Shoe Repair from this point forward and will not be taking future shoe and boot repairs anywhere but here. Lawrence's focus on his customers is profoundly noble and did I mention how talented he is at his craft? All of that said, if I should happen to spy a trash bag wielding lady with dozens of shoes flowing out of a Hefty bag equivalent of a clown car the next time I am in Lawrence's shop, I'll be grabbing Lawrence a latte before dropping off my own shoes. I was really impressed with how nice my shoes came out after I had the soles redone. The most important thing that happened is that they were HONEST when considering whether the heel repair on a boot was worth the cost (they weren't high quality boots and it would have been expensive). Being only 19, this was my first time taking my shoes to be repaired. I found this place (on Yelp!) and visited the location across from Burlington on Atrisco and Central. My boots were suede and of course I had gotten the soft fabric all dirty but what I was coming for was just to replace one of the silver pins that held the strap in place along the side. Not only was the woman behind the counter all smiles as soon as I arrived, she recommended replacing the other pin as well so it would match the new one, and only charged ten dollars for the work done on both boots! Coming back to pick up my boots, I was pleasantly surprised to find that she had gone over and above and CLEANED my boots with suede cleaner (which I never would have done...#CollegeStudent) so they looked like new. Can't beat next say shoe repair. All I've had done it replacement of taps on my pumps, but they always match the color, and even do a little extra heel repair. I've never paid more than $8, and my shoes are always ready next day. A very convenient cobbler for those working downtown. read more

My husband and I have been taking shoes and boots to Coronado Shoe Repair at the downtown location for several years now, and the service and quality of work is consistently superb. We're both trial lawyers, so we have quite a few pairs of dress shoes and boots that need frequent repairs, and Lawrence has never let us down. This is a one man shop, so be prepared to wait a few days for your shoes to be ready, but it's worth the wait. Before going to Coronado I'd tried a few other shoe repair shops in ABQ, with mixed results. It seems that good cobblers are becoming harder to find, as apparently not many younger people are doing this kind of work. I'm so grateful that Coronado Shoe Repair is still in business, and providing excellent shoe repair work at very reasonable prices. The best cobbler in town! I've been going to Coronado for years and have always been extremely impressed by the high quality of work -- not to mention the low prices. My boots and shoes have always left this shop looking and feeling amazing. The owner has saved my beloved (and ancient) cowgirl boots by replacing the heels and soles with sturdy leather, rescued my expensive leather sandals that the dog chewed up, and even transformed some rubber-soled boots of mine into slick dancing shoes. YOU STOLE MY HEART-O Coronado!! WHOOOT! Hey ya'll!! Just walked to The 'Querque and survived on BEEF JERKY!! Recently had to leave Phoenix in quite a hurry. No ride, so I decided to glide!! MY FEET HURT SO BAD!! It took me almost two weeks and it made MY dogs squeak!! HOWWWWWWWWLLLLL!! I still cant believe that not even a trucker would stop to pick me up. DONT PEOPLE HITCHHIKE ANYMORE???? Well at about Pine Top my VINTAGE Doc Martin 12 holes blew out and It was rough going from there. But if theres ONE thing I learned from my Gammy Mabelline its how to " GET THE EFF OUTTA HERE" . Had to fight off a few coyotes and explain myself to several local sheriffs( WHEW!! Thank GOD they didn't check for warrants!!) SIKE! JKJK!! ( WiNK WinK). I made it!!!! Happened to find and skin a bison on the way and after brain tanning the hide fetched a pretty penny at a local crafts fair I literally stumbled across in Gallop! Side note- I love you Gallop! Youre like a desert Scallop!! Whoot!! This financed the rest of my walkabout and that's when I found this gem of a shop in the heart of the city!! They fixed my soles so I could roll!! I brought a pair of Cole Haan black pumps with white stitching to have new heels applied. I *thought* of asking the owner not to polish over the white stitching with black, but I didn't want to insult his intelligence and didn't mention it. When I picked them up, sure enough, he'd done just that. He said he had a big brush on a new machine and had to get used to using it. In the meantime, he experimented on my shoes and ruined the look of them - half black and white on the back, all roughly blackeded-out white stitching on the front. The shoes obviously had to be hand-polished; it's taken me minutes to do it that way at home. But that was too much work, the result was shoddy...meh, $12 please. read more
